The name Elisa Lam or as Lam Ho Yi has gained worldwide recognition by media from her mysterious and untimely death. After a long and and painful month of wondering where she was workers checked the water tank on the Cecil hotel and saw Elisa lifeless body floating in the water. There are million of theories out there on how it happened or what caused it. Many people speculated that it was murder or drug overdose. Many of these rumors were fueled by the video that came out of her in a elevator showing odd behavior such as moving her arms in many different directions, hiding and moving her mouth like she was talking to someone. In this essay I would like to talk about the 3 theories around her death that peak my interest the most. Murder, The supernatural or an over dose. The drug theory is one of the more believable one on the list of theories on the internet. The theory states that she was high off meads and then died. From the autopsy record shows that Elisa took Dextroamphetamine,Lamotrigine,Venlafaxine,Bupropion all prescribed for people who had bipolar, depression, and and anxiety. Elisa parents have stated that he did have bipolar disorder and she has also stated that on her blog. In cases people with …show more content…
How the theory goes it that she was murdered by one of the staff at the hotel that she trusted. In the chilling video we see Elisa popping out in a playful way and it soon turns dark after we see her frantically pressing buttons on the elevator like she was trying to get away. In the video we also see Elisa hiding in the corner. It can also be said that she was folding her arms around in that way because she was scared or was on her medicine and her attacker took advantage of that. This theory would also explain why she was able to get to on the rooftop of the Cecil hotel because you need a key to reach the roof. This also explained how she ended up in the water tank and how it was
In Katherine Ramsland’s article “Murder by the Book: The Murder of Karyn Slover,” she tells the story of the mysterious murder of a 23 year old mother who seemed to vanish with no reasoning in central Illinois back in 1996. Ramsland begins by telling how an abandoned car was left on the side of the road with it still running, the headlights on and the driver door still open. Police searched the car and found a drivers license with Karyn Slover’s name on it, yet the car belonged to David Swann. The police reached Swann and told him of Karyn’s disappearance, which he then told the police how she was borrowing the car to pick up her son at the Slover’s household. The author continues on about how Swann filed a missing-persons report
An unexpected murder with unexplained evidence all surrounding a 6 year old pageant queen named JonBenet all happening on the day after Christmas. Although there are many theories about JonBenet, evidence shows that it was most likely her brother. Jonbenet Ramsey was a beauty pageant queen that was found dead on the day after Christmas in a storage room in her basement of her house in Boulder Colorado. Jonbenet was born on August 6, 1990 in Atlanta Georgia, and was only 6 years old when she was found dead. One day she was observed struggling to breathe. The author discovered that Karen had a bottle of tablets when he removed the bed covers. She had taken an overdose in an attempt to commit suicide. She was taken to Deacon’s Hospital Intensive Care Unit to pump out the stomach contents and also to neutralise the effect of the overdose. Karen had declared that she never wanted to go to the hospital should her condition gets worse. It was a regular sunday morning around 6 a.m. when Mrs. Robinson was taking her daily run in the morning. She jogged around the perimeter of the neighborhood at a fair speed while she pondered her plans for the day. Would she go grocery shopping, would she go out with some friends, or would she just stay at home and continue to grade papers, as she was a school teacher. These thoughts were brought to an abrupt halt when she saw something very peculiar in the corner of her eye. She approached what appeared to be a hunched over figure next to one of the rose bushes that lined the fence of the neighborhood. As she got closer, she realized what it was.
1. On the 21st of October 1995, Anna Wood took an ecstasy tablet at a dance party and died three days later. At such a young and thriving age, Anna Wood was just 15 years old with a loving family, many friends and a new job. On the night of the event that had taken place a series of risk behaviours were undertaken. Firstly by wanting to take an ecstasy tablet to get high as well as not having any knowledge on the actual drug. By having a broader knowledge on the drug she may have been still alive as she would’ve only had taken half due to knowing a whole tablet would be too much.
“The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but the one who causes the darkness.” Jodi Arias was charged for murdering her ex-boyfriend. Arias said she killed him using self-defence after he tried to “rape” her. The Jodi case is important because no one had proof on whether she had lied about Alexander trying to rape her or, she had raped and killed him purposely. It really seemed like she wanted him back when he no longer had feelings for her and took it to far.
Colonialism is an ongoing practice that is marginalizing indigenous communities because of their race, class, gender, and sexuality. Qwo-li Driskill et al quoted Rayna Green claiming “that colonial discourses represent Native women as sexually available for white men’s pleasure” (34). From their first contact the Europeans through to the present day, Aboriginal, Indigenous, and First Nations women have been categorized and seen as Other. Sarah Hunt employs in her analysis a form of postcolonial critique used by Edward Said, who argues in Orientalism (1978) that there exist constructs of false assumptions underlying Western attitudes towards racialized others, including Indigenous groups, rooted in Eurocentric prejudice, serving as an implicit
Police questioned Amanda and Rafaela several times over the next several days and on November 6, authorities arrested Amanda and Rafaela taking them to are the police station where police held Knox for five days. The news of Marilyn Monroe’s death began to spread. Newspapers were seen everywhere with her bright, smiling face and the giant, bolded letters of ‘death’ stamped on the front pages. Even The New York Times published a newspaper article titled “Marilyn Monroe Dead, Pills Near.” In this article, Dr. Theodore J. Curphey, the coroner, declares Monroe’s death to have not been from natural causes: “After an autopsy the Los Angeles coroner reported that Miss Monroe's ‘was not a natural death.’ He attributed it to a drug” (“Marilyn Monroe Dead, Pills Near”). Her death seemed to be the typical case of overdosing on barbiturates with traces of chloral hydrate which are both sedatives or sleeping pills (Los Angeles County Coroner’s Mortuary, 1962). There
1. After the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese, John Darley and Bibb Latane were in shock as the rest of the city/world that a 28 year old lady could be stabbed in a neighborhood with about 38 by standers or more and say or do nothing. Why didn’t anyone try and help her? How could people stand by and watch this go on? People speculated that the failure of people to get involved might be due more to the influence (socially) that bystanders have on each other. To test this theory, Darley and Latane, two psychologists, decided to conduct a study. “Diffusion of Responsibility” Everyone hopes that someone else will be the first to step up

The detective genre is recognizable by the mystery that it represents or establishes. Every word of a fiction novel is chosen with a purpose, and that purpose on a detective novel is to create suspense. The excerpts from The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, Murder Is My Business by Lynette Prucha, and Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley, create an atmosphere of suspense and mystery. Even though they all fit into this category, there are some differences that make each novel unique. The imagery that the authors offer in the excerpts helps the reader to distinguish the similarities and the differences.
“It’s been an entire year since The Flower Girls’s last murder in Adelaide, South Australia. And the group of eight haven’t been spotted since. We are forced to ask the question – are they simply out of exes to get revenge on or are they just biding their time for their biggest kill yet?”
OK Mr. and or Mrs. Killer. I've got a good theory so you better listen closely because I'm only going to tell it once. This is how I believe you killed Kai.
