Employee Communication
Every employee on the payroll is a spokesperson for the company. And what they say in the marketplace carries more weight than the best annual report, the most creative advertising slogan or the most aggressive public relations campaign. Yet company after company fails to partner with this incredible asset.

This is not to say that corporate relations is only about employees. On the contrary, groups such as shareholders, the surrounding community, government, customers and the industry as a whole are all important. But, if you begin corporate relations at the foundation -- with the employees -- and make them feel proud to work for your corporation, the rest of the groups will fall into line much more easily than if employees feel kept out of the loop or if they get little or no recognition for a job well done.
One vehicle that can disseminate information to the employee population is a corporate newsletter. Newsletters can not only give the crucial information (vision/strategy, progress/performance, financial), but also human interest stories to help employees feel as if they are part of one big family even though they might have 40 locations across the globe.
Videos are also a worthwhile method which can get the message out while showing employees the "live" version of executives in the company who they might rarely see face-to-face. Videos can humanize executives so that employees
As some of the interviewed staff mentioned, “it is the responsibility of top management to assure that all employees are getting the information that they need” and that “top management needs to take a more active role in making greater amounts of information available to all employees.”
If the sender’s accent is not easily understood by the receiver then a written message may be more effective.
The workplace is an environment where more and more Americans are spending significant portions of their time. In fact, 25 million workers reported spending at least 49 hours a week at work, (Schabner, 2013). This means that having effective communication in the workplace is becoming increasingly important. Not just to improve business practices, but to improve the quality of both employer AND employee satisfaction. Effective interpersonal communication is the most important aspect in determining the success of workplace practices. Effective interpersonal communication includes practices such as honesty, clarity, and mutual respect.

Communicating information to employees is vital in the workplace if one wants to successful incorporate implementation at work. “Moreover, communication is the key to establishing an open environment where people can trust their management staff (Palmer Group, 2014).”
At Bayer, there are multiple methods used to collect, organize and communicate information to the employees. First, information at the site level distributes across email. For example, the emails include information such as community events, safety issues, Level 3 meeting minutes, construction updates, HR communications, promotion announcements, and short-term assignments. Also, some other technologies are used, including LMS (learning management system). As an illustration, this system is used to communicate and track training and OPLs (one point lessons) mainly for safety issues happening at the site. Additionally, there is also a company Sharepoint that can be used to gather and distribute information to the site. In the same way, management can post necessary information and
The attitude extruded by Kathy Kudler and participation she exhibits will trickle down the chain of command to middle management and lower level staff. When direction is given the managers it is important for them to enforce and innovate a new way to ensure that their employees are aware and onboard with the goal and the direction of the organizations. It is usually not the best idea to present the information on the employees suddenly, so providing advance notice and scheduled training schedule to fully implement new programs will make the roll out easier for everyone, customers and staff alike.
Perhaps one of the older forms of communication used within the company are staff notice boards. During spring and summer of 201 I underwent a six month internship in the information services department of a major company in my country Botswana. The company , Botswana power corporation is the sole producer and distributor of electricity in Botswana. As a company with branches all over the country it is easy to understand why communication would be crucial to the day to day operations of this company as a whole. For the sake of clarity however I’m going to limit the focus of this paper to the Information servives departmentin which I worked.
Business communication needs to become interpersonal again. No matter how we believe our human forms came into existence, we were built to need personal contact and function best with face-to-face communication. As children, we desired comfort from touch, a hug from our mothers. As teenagers, we held hands with our boyfriend or girlfriend. As adults in the workforce, we still need to feel that connection and comfort with our families and the people we work with. As Susan RoAne (2008), owner of a speaking, consulting, and coaching business, discusses one way we feel this connection is through getting to know and building trust by communicating in-person. Through this interpersonal interaction, we not only feel more comfortable around
Communication is an important skill for people to have in an organisation. Through the interpersonal communication (communication between two or more people) process, people can exchange information, create motivation, express feelings or apply penalties for inappropriate behavior, all within the workplace (Robbins, et al, 2009). In this case-study for Electra Products’, I will be addressing relevant, organisational behaviour and communication issues that must be addressed in order to “revive the failing company” (Samson, 2012). Specific recommendations will be offered to further assist in focusing on the key outlined issues and what actions would be most appropriate to take from this point. Throughout the report, it is clear the attitudes of staff are becoming unfavourable and has resulted in a lack of job satisfaction, thus becoming a crucial behavioural issue within the company, restricting its progression and the success of the empowerment campaign implemented by the company’s new CEO. Selective perception and emotions of the staff are creating communication issues that are barriers and are “going to be an obstacle to the empowerment efforts” (Samson, 2012). Limitation’s that restricted the recommendations for this case study were lack of information on each of the departments and individuals involved. There was also no clear mission statement or goals stated to help the employees and departments understand where the team leader desired the company to be repositioned. Communication involves a transfer of meaning and understanding, staff need to have a solid understanding of the company’s mission statement and the individual goals of each department. If they can understand and adjust to work with one another’s goals, it will create greater, more positive diversity in the ideas
