Police brutality is the lavish physical assault or verbal assault during police procedures which can involve interrogating or apprehending a suspect. Police brutality originated from the labor worker strikes in the 1800’s through the 1900’s. The violent brutal act of these officers usually formed around the lower socioeconomic class. Since then police brutality has hit an all-time high in the 21st century. In New York alone there has been reportedly over 72 police brutality reports some reports even ended in the deaf of a citizen. There’s been claim of police officers violently choking citizens at traffics stops and beating citizen up in public. There’s been new technology such as body cameras which are used by most police but not all.

Although I should know by now, I cannot help but think that there has been an overwhelming amount of police brutality in recent years. Police brutality can be defined as, when a police officer uses more force than necessary. This issue has spread throughout the United States of America, and is putting the lives of our citizens in great danger. Police brutality is not only physical, but it can also be verbal attacks; and, in most cases, it is caused by false arrest and racial profiling due to police corruption. Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society and it is used very loosely to any and all forms of police misconduct. Whereas, in reality, excessive force of police misconduct is what defines police brutality. The jobs of a police officer are too calmly resolve public disturbance and disputes. Police officers are supposed to protect citizens; instead they are hurting and using excessive force. It is not right and it is unjust for a police officer to hurt a citizen due to an assumption without any actual proof of criminal activity.

Police brutality is one of the most serious and divisive human rights violations in the United States and it occurs in every community. The job of a police officer is to maintain public order, prevent, and detect crime. They are engaged in a dangerous and stressful occupation that can involve violent situations that must be controlled. In many of these confrontations with the public it may become necessary for the police to administer force to take control of a situation. But it is undoubted that all of our behaviors are influenced by our desires on specific objectives. In the 1970’s the American government used the SWAT team in an estimate, few hundred times a year, however, in the recent days, there has been over 40,000 military style raids a year. Looking at the statistics from the National Counter Terrorism Department released in 2011, the number of private US citizens who were killed by terrorists in that year were 17. From a film by Charles Shaw, it is documented that at least 500 innocent Americans lose their lives to police brutality. 5000 have lost their lives since 9/11. I would agree that there’s some merit in creating programs that allow people to do immoral actions. Technically you are giving people the opportunity to do unlawful things, which means you should be held somewhat responsible for the damages due to being the creator of the chaos. I do agree with the idea that the software would have been created regardless, but it doesn’t undermine that the software was created at all. If you are going to open the door for people to commit immoral actions, you should be held accountable for allowing people to commit these actions. But the argument of the reason behind creating the software justifies whether or not if the creator should be penalized by its users.

As my group and I entered the convention center for the first time, I was unsure of what was to come. I hoped the 500 dollars I’d spent on hotels, costumes, and tickets was worth it. The event volunteers, referred to as “Guardians,” ushered us up an escalator into a line that went along the wall of a massive hallway so that we could pick up our tickets. As the line slowly pushed up around the corner into another hall, my group was struck by two realizations.
