Michael Facey April 29, 2015 Professor Christian Heisler ENG-103(Argument Essay) Police Brutality has become a serious topic in today’s time being that every time you turn on the TV you see them mention another act of violence from the police and since that were in 2015, cellphone cameras are being used to capture every single second of it, so it won’t become he say, she say evidence. According to Salem Press Encyclopedia, police brutality is abuses of authority that amount to serious and divisive human rights violations involving the excessive use of force that may occur in the apprehension or retention of civilians. Police brutality has become the issue of today’s time with civilians of this country; recent examples of police …show more content…
True enough police have their protocols to go by, but they aren't treating citizens like human beings. I believe that if a crime is committed, the criminal should be have to deal with some consequences, but for kids-young men mainly- to be shot and killed in their own neighborhood without justifiable cause is just absolutely insane. Being that they put their life on the line every day to protect us, doesn’t empower them to treat citizens like a class of people below them. Don’t misinterpret what I’m saying, this intended for those officers who are misguide or blind to the line between reasonable and excessive, because there are officers who help the community and host program to reach out and save the young kids from these streets. There are certain ideas for alternatives in the air, such as the “Body Camera”; according to the New York Times, Police departments around the country have been moving with unusual speed to equip officers with body cameras to film their often edgy encounters with the public. But the adoption of these cameras has created a new conflict over who has the right to view the recordings”. I feel like these body cameras will change the whole game plan on law enforcement being that it’s like having a supervisor over your back watching your every move, another alternative to this brutality is the use of Non-Lethal weapons such as CEDs. CEDs are conducted energy devices or also known as
Police brutality is the lavish physical assault or verbal assault during police procedures which can involve interrogating or apprehending a suspect. Police brutality originated from the labor worker strikes in the 1800’s through the 1900’s. The violent brutal act of these officers usually formed around the lower socioeconomic class. Since then police brutality has hit an all-time high in the 21st century. In New York alone there has been reportedly over 72 police brutality reports some reports even ended in the deaf of a citizen. There’s been claim of police officers violently choking citizens at traffics stops and beating citizen up in public. There’s been new technology such as body cameras which are used by most police but not all.
Although I should know by now, I cannot help but think that there has been an overwhelming amount of police brutality in recent years. Police brutality can be defined as, when a police officer uses more force than necessary. This issue has spread throughout the United States of America, and is putting the lives of our citizens in great danger. Police brutality is not only physical, but it can also be verbal attacks; and, in most cases, it is caused by false arrest and racial profiling due to police corruption. Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society and it is used very loosely to any and all forms of police misconduct. Whereas, in reality, excessive force of police misconduct is what defines police brutality. The jobs of a police officer are too calmly resolve public disturbance and disputes. Police officers are supposed to protect citizens; instead they are hurting and using excessive force. It is not right and it is unjust for a police officer to hurt a citizen due to an assumption without any actual proof of criminal activity.
Police brutality is one of the most serious and divisive human rights violations in the United States and it occurs in every community. The job of a police officer is to maintain public order, prevent, and detect crime. They are engaged in a dangerous and stressful occupation that can involve violent situations that must be controlled. In many of these confrontations with the public it may become necessary for the police to administer force to take control of a situation. Sometimes this force takes the form of hand to hand combat with a suspect who resists being arrested. Not all police officers in communities are good cops. At least once a year the news is covering a story about a person
All of us have formed habits in our daily life. Even though some of these habits only exist in our subconscious and we cannot actually make sure whether they are real or only the conjectures. But it is undoubted that all of our behaviors are influenced by our desires on specific objectives. In the book, the power of habit, Charles Duhigg explained the definition of a habit as an effort-saving instinct. “When a habit emerges, the brain stops fully participating in decision making” (20). To support his opinions on habits, he introduced the three-step model of a habit loop, the theory of golden rule of habit, and the role of a craving brain and belief in the process of a habit changing. Through learning
In the 1970’s the American government used the SWAT team in an estimate, few hundred times a year, however, in the recent days, there has been over 40,000 military style raids a year. Looking at the statistics from the National Counter Terrorism Department released in 2011, the number of private US citizens who were killed by terrorists in that year were 17. From a film by Charles Shaw, it is documented that at least 500 innocent Americans lose their lives to police brutality. 5000 have lost their lives since 9/11. The is equal to the number of US soldiers who died in Iraq.
Have you ever thought about all the jobs that were made available because people became ill? According to the National Center on Caregiving based on the February 2015 poll, “annually 8,357,100 people receive support from five main long-term care services; home health agencies (4,742,500), nursing homes (1,383,700), hospice nurses (1,244,500), residential care communities (713,300) and adult day service centers (273,200)”. These figures are astounding and have only increased in recent years. In addition to these jobs being created, large scale facilities have also been built to take care of those who become ill. These facilities are filled with doctors, nurses, caretakers, etc., all people who now hold steady well-paying jobs. So what would
"Approaching" alludes to bundles which begin somewhere else and land at the machine, while "active" alludes to parcels which start at the machine and arrive somewhere else.In the event that you allude to your web server, it generally acknowledges approaching associations with its web benefit, and just sporadically (or possibly never) makes active associations.
The rolling sea of people crashed and tumbled along the cracked and time-worn sidewalks. The honking cars, engines rumbling like hunting lions, barely rolled down the street. Traffic had never moved very quickly in New York, unfortunately. The mingling scents of cheap coffee, baked goods, and an assortment of unflattering perfumes somehow managed to waft upwards to the tops of the shorter buildings lining the block. Watching the bustle below with squinted eyes, a pale woman stood atop the roof of the Summerdale Apartment Building. Her slim figure easily went unnoticed that high up, but the smell of her spearmint perfume or shampoo gently joined the scents of the street below rising up towards the sky. Her hands pressed flat against
I would agree that there’s some merit in creating programs that allow people to do immoral actions. Technically you are giving people the opportunity to do unlawful things, which means you should be held somewhat responsible for the damages due to being the creator of the chaos. I do agree with the idea that the software would have been created regardless, but it doesn’t undermine that the software was created at all. If you are going to open the door for people to commit immoral actions, you should be held accountable for allowing people to commit these actions. But the argument of the reason behind creating the software justifies whether or not if the creator should be penalized by its users.
In the year 2990, the Geneva Convention banned all war. This supposedly impossible declaration was caused by one man. Kira Hanate demonstrated incredible power that had terrified the world. He was able to create and destroy at whim. The entire russian submarine fleet was destroyed in an instant. This terrified the world and put it into his control. If any military tried to amass an army to fight him it was destroyed immediately. On New Year's eve, he projected his face across the sky of every country. He was a man in his 40’s who had a very handsome face with an all white goatee. He declared all large scale wars illegal and told political leaders he would give them a different way to settle disputes. This entailed providing every country
As my group and I entered the convention center for the first time, I was unsure of what was to come. I hoped the 500 dollars I’d spent on hotels, costumes, and tickets was worth it. The event volunteers, referred to as “Guardians,” ushered us up an escalator into a line that went along the wall of a massive hallway so that we could pick up our tickets. As the line slowly pushed up around the corner into another hall, my group was struck by two realizations. The first was that what originally looked like a thirty-minute wait was actually going to take multiple hours judging by the ridiculous length of the line. But the second realization was better: this was going to be the best line we’ve ever been in.
It was New Year’s Eve. We finally made it down to Times Square around 10:30 PM and we couldn’t move. People were everywhere and it seemed like motion just stopped for a moment. I was frozen among an endless sea of appendages and cheap cologne, and I was mesmerized. I looked up and was instantly captivated by all of the signs, all of the screens, the screaming fundamentalists who prophesied the end of the world, and the people dressed up as Elmo and his supporting Sesame Street characters. The plethora of things meshed into a tsunami wave of sensational overload, and I loved it. I can’t vividly recall a single sign I saw, person I heard, or advertisment I read, but I can vividly remember the feeling of awe that was evoked within me from all
