Walt Disney Theme Parks currently make over 2.2 billion dollars a year. The park became known as the place where children and their families could explore, enjoy rides, and meet Disney characters. This all happened because of the dreams of one man. Disney Theme Parks would not be where they are today without Walt Disney who changed the concept of animated cartoons. He stood for believing in your dreams and because of that he changed many things in his lifetime. Walt Disney’s contribution to animation forever changed cartoons.
Before he contributed to animation, cartoons in the past were made differently. In 1908 the first cartoon, Fantasmagorie was the first animated film to use hand-drawn animation. By the 1950s Mickey had a themepark, a comic strip, and The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was a show that was a hit for children everywhere. It taught them shapes, numbers, and how to solve problems. Mickey’s story does not start there in fact it goes way back to a bunny called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was instantly popular and Universal ordered a series of cartoons. In 1928 “Disney met with executives to negotiate another contract” (Suddath, Claire. “Mickey Mouse.” Time, Time Inc., 18 Nov. 2008, content.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1859935,00.html.) but things did not end up in his favor since Universal offered that Disney could keep his job for lower salary but he declined. Many late night brainstorming nights later reinventing Oswald the rabbit, Disney and Iwerks decided to “shortened the ears, added some extra padding around the middle, and turned the rabbit into a mouse” (Suddath).
