Duty of Care Concept.
Duty of care: Workers have a responsibility to work safely so they don’t cause any harm to themselves and others, this responsibility lays at the workplace for everybody: contractors, visitor’s volunteers and casual worker. Everyone mast take personal responsibility for their only action and every one must follow health and safety procedures.
Duty of care: A PCBU has the primary duty of care to ensure the health and safety of workers while they are at work in the business or undertaking work away from your usual place of work. Monitor the health of workers and conditions at the workplace
PCBU officers such as manager, supervisors and safety officers will apply a process to a safe environment with zero accident.
One method will be to apply weekly a checklist by the officers responsible to make sure that the workers they supervise are complying with their duty of care.

The Manager could then commend the Supervisor, or assist the Supervisor as necessary to rectify any duty of care point that needs attention or any risk raised by somebody in the workplace.
An example checklist is shown below to best suit our workplace that would have to be complied with by a Worker to satisfy their duty of care. This points could be amended or add other points to suit the particular needs of your workplace. .
This is an example of the check list we will be implementing to make sure the Duty of care is implemented and working, to create a safe and efficient workplace.

There are many other jobs that need to ensure Health and Safety is important and some of these are: landlords, contractors, emergency services, trade union representatives and consultants. They have to make sure Health and Safety is an important role whilst doing their job as they don’t just have to think about themselves and the people who work for them, they also have to consider the people who are putting their trust in them to help them.

Before I start work, I ensure that the environment is spacious to avoid any accidents. By ensuring that the floor is dry and clear of any obstruction or material that could result to risk of an accident to both the service user and member of staff in line with Health and Safety first Aids Regulations 1987. I carry out checks on the residential areas and on the surroundings, fire checks and parked the wheelchairs and Zimmer frames in their appropriate places to avoid any accidents. I ensure staff are kept safe within their day to day work by ensuring that they work to Health and Safety Law and Legislation and that this is kept up to date. I ensure risk assessments are in place and reviewed regularly for any changes or updates. I ensure staff are all treated equally and are given the same choices.

This is a requirement that a person acts towards others and the public with the watchfulness, attention, caution and prudence that a reasonable person in the circumstances would use. If a person 's actions do not meet this standard of care, then their actions may be considered negligent, and any damages resulting may be claimed in a lawsuit for negligence.
