Decisions for seniors are like cell phones nowadays; they are everywhere. As a senior begins to come close to deciding what future career path to take, they begin to develop options for themselves. For some, it may be going to the University of Cincinnati and pursuing a doctorate degree in physical therapy and transferring to the Navy after graduating. For others, it may be going in the Navy right after high school and joining their medical support team. Although the physical therapy unit at the University of Cincinnati and the medical support team in the Navy are both beneficial for helping people, going to the University of Cincinnati is a better option for me because of the educational opportunities available. Before a person would go …show more content…
Going to the University of Cincinnati for only one study, it is more likely that a person will always be doing something that they enjoy. A benefit to the physical therapy classes at the University of Cincinnati is that they are accredited by CAPTE, which stands for the Commision on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education(Vincent). This is a major plus to taking classes here, because that organization is legitimate and looks good on a resume. If a person was looking to join the Navy in hopes of being associated with this organization, it would not be possible since they are not focused in on one field of study. In fact, it is possible to come out of the Navy without a doctoral degree in a specific study (“Hospital Corpsman- Medical Support Jobs”). While being in the Navy has its benefits of not costing an individual anything, it certainly does not guarantee that a person will not need to go back to college to get a degree in what a person wants. One negative effect of going to college to get a doctoral degree in a specific study is the cost of education. While majoring in physical therapy at the University of Cincinnati, it would cost around $75,000 (“2017-2018 Fees”). But once completing and receiving scholarships, a student could pay off that debt. However, there are people who are in their late

Living Learning Communities facilitate learning, growth, and friendship. LLCs seek students who are dedicated and motivated. Personally, I am both; throughout high school, I have worked hard and studied hard. I maintained a high GPA while participating in theatre almost every day after school. Indeed, I was able to take rigorous Advanced Placement courses along with dual enrollment engineering course while helping to run my school’s theatre company, Lymlight Production. I plan to continue both this hard work while at USF. Thus, living in an LLC will help me meet my goals.
This paper will conduct a community assessment of Marion County, Indiana. Marion County is located in the heart of Indianapolis, which is the capital of the state of Indiana. Marion County was created April 1, 1822 and was formed from Delaware New Purchase. It was named after General Frances Marion from South Carolina in the Revolutionary War period. This assessment will address the health needs and risks of Marion County through the use of the WGU assessment forms identifying the population’s economic status, neighborhood and community safety inventory, cultural assessment, and the disaster assessment and planning guide.
I signed up to volunteer at a local nursing home. Because my father works there, I have been there many times before. However, volunteering there was very new to me.
What does community service means to me? Well, to me community service mean helping your community become a better place. When you do things for your neighborhood, it makes you feel like a better person. There are all sorts of activities you can do in your community. You can work with children at school, work with the elderly, or help people that are less fortunate and make their day very special. Community Service is very important because it gives you a chance to bond with the people in your neighborhood. It will also give you a chance to give back to your community , you’ll learn a lot from your experience, and you’ll make a difference in someone’s life. I recommend a lot of people to go out and make a difference.
As a student, I have demonstrated many works of service to my community and school. Service opportunities have shaped me into the person I am today and these projects have made me realize how fortunate I am for all that I have. While I've been doing these service projects through the years, it has been a pleasure seeing the joy on the faces of people that aren't as fortunate as I am. Service projects that I have completed include managing the fish booth at the St. Leo's Parish Festival, being an altar server at St. Leo's Parish, helping cook dinner for the Ridgway Fire Department during carnival day setup, participating in the St. Marys Light Up Night by dancing, and Christmas caroling to local residents. I also participated in a zombie/princess
What do you think about your neighbours? How do you feel about your schools? What do you think about your community? Community has always been a big part of our lives and it has been here since the day we were born. We might even live on the same street, but we grow up in different households and this results in many different views on communities. The many definitions of our community may include our home, our heritage, and even our religion.
In the essay, The Worst Hard Time, author Timothy Egan conveys the experience of the community in the town of Dalhart, Texas as it falls from being a town that enjoyed fortune from high demands of product in the market to a town of unrest and helplessness just a while after the market crash of 1929. Egan describes the economic and social conditions in the Texas Panhandle as a whole and in other areas, as well as what it meant for the people of this community in the midst of the Great Depression.
University of Central Arkansas is the only school in the state of Arkansas that has the program to becoming a Physical Therapist. Although, it is still in the state of Arkansas it is not close to where I live in Arkansas, it is a two hour drive from my house to UCA. This is a disadvantage to me because I do not want to live on campus at college, I want to go to a college close enough where I can be able to drive there and come back home everyday. My next choice would be to go to Northeastern State University, this college is a little closer, it only takes a hour and a half from my house. These colleges are still far from home
According to Healthy People 2020 a goal of theirs is to “increase immunization rates and reduce preventable infections.” The influenza virus is one of these preventable infections, which can cause serious harm to patients. The influenza virus is known as the “flu.” Everyone in his or her life has had some experience with the flu, whether that is himself or herself or a family member. What if there was a way to ensure people from contracting a strain of the influenza virus? Well, thanks to technology and medical research there is.
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
" 'But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness, I want sin' "(Huxley 215). In Brave New World people lives were different and they had different believes they were not allowed to feel emotion because as the Director said emotions are unstable. They were conditioned to think the way their world is formed is perfect, but actually it isn't. Emotions could be unstable, but is better to feel them instead of being an inhumane person that doesn't feel anything. People have to paid a price that they didn't choose and that is unjust for them because they have to take what is giving to them.
Social Loafing A major component of Social Psychological research is based on social loafing. Social loafing can result in diverse possibilities and also not only affects the individual who is conducting the social phenomenon but also group members are subjected to exposure. Discussion regarding the reasons of social loafing as an occurrence will be based primarily on evidence from literature regarding the specific component, envy. Possibilities of outcomes range from members being awarded unfair workloads or dissatisfaction, to group performance being decreased.
At the beginning of this course I wasn’t sure what was meant by social responsibility and civic engagement. During this course I realized the meaning of both and the responsibilities that both imply. A definition of social responsibility that I found particularly poignant and concise comes from Entrepreneur Magazine, “Acting with concern and sensitivity, aware of the impact of your actions on others, particularly the disadvantaged” (Entrepreneur Magazine.com). Social responsibility can be as simple as paying your taxes or recycling your glass bottles. Social responsibility can be as complex as finding solutions to global warming or hunger in Africa. You can be personally socially responsible or you can be socially
Power operates in many ways in communities in the past. I will be exploring ways that power is defined and used to generate change in communities, specifically through readings on authority and subjectivity. This reading set is particularly interesting due to the deep unexplored space between the binary of authority and subjectivity. Scott R Hudson explores this idea through Built space and bad subjects, Domination and resistance at Monte Alban, Oaxaca, Mexico. A key note here is in the mention of “bad subjects” in the title, Hudson challenges the static identity frequently pinned on commoners. Hudson argues that even the less powerful played active roles in their communities and were capable of generating change which in turned gave them
