Religious Experience Project For my project, I decided to discuss divorce with someone who has gone through it. By doing this, I selected questions to ask my interviewee regarding the divorce experience. I also found out whether faith played a role in her personal divorce process or not. My aunt Leonor De Leon is who I chose to interview for my project. Leonor became divorced a year and a half ago after being married for twenty-one years. I chose to this project because of the major impact divorce can have on a person in a variety of aspects. Divorce is truly a heavy concept to fully understand. She discussed that prior to the divorce they went through counseling with a priest and worked with him to retrain their marriage, but it failed. She had done her duty as a spouse, but it was difficult to rebuild a relationship when the other person didn’t care to do the same. She agreed that a married couple should love each other and devote themselves to one another's happiness to make the relationship work all while serving God. But if one person consistently failed to do that, then in her eyes divorce could be considered because God wouldn’t want her suffering in an unhappy abusive marriage. She then continued and said, “Yes, it was one of the most difficult times in my life, but once it became final and we were divorced, I felt a sense of relief, hope, and optimism for my future.” Since the divorce my aunt has returned to school, traveled, and has rediscovered herself once again. During our interview, she mentioned many times how happy and free she feels, and you could see it in her face. In completing our interview, I learned that at the end of the day the only one standing in your shoes is you. The thing is, a divorce can happen for several reasons
