Beowulf: A New Telling by Robert Nye is a story of horrendous monsters of legends Beowulf has to face. But, Beowulf is not your ordinary hero, and this story isn’t your ordinary hero legend of Good Vs. Evil. In Fact, the story shoes things aren’t so black and white. You will hear again and again, about light and darkness being in the same being, a kind of a yin and yang concept. That is one of many themes throughout this story, and the longer you read the more you see the deeper, overarching theme of the entire story.
Fenn has used some first person’s phrases in this book, so she can give her opinion about certain topics. However, it’s quite fascinating to many of us because many authors usually avoid using first person’s phrases in their book. There are so many pictures about Mandan’s people are included in this book with a caption, it can help a reader to experience each situation visually for better understanding. The tone of this book is very formal and proper by the way Fenn have includes her experience in the beginning of this book. In the Encounters at the Heart of the World, Fenn’s writing style is very clear and concise at the same time because every topic in this book has been discussed very efficiently. However, the climax of the book nearly end during epidemic of 1837/38, which is quite early in terms of Mandan’s history. “The winter of 1836-37 was especially difficult. The summer had been disheartening. Twenty-eight warriors and the war chief wounded”. This book takes a reader to a transition of a successful centuries to dominance by the

Leontien Kouwenhoven suggests in a paper titled “Satan as the Hero of Paradise Lost,” that Milton’s creation of Hell is void of order giving Satan the power and ability to become a strong and prominent leader. Milton uses vivid imagery to conjure up the image of Satan and his second-in-command Beelzebub tied by chains to a fiery lake below earth’s atmosphere also known as Hell. Satan contrite with anger does not show any penance for his rebellion from God but instead disgust for their current condition. In an attempt to alleviate the discomfort he feels for rebelling he decides to gather an army and attack the Lord again. Satan and Beelzebub easily break free from their chains. His chains are so weak that he and Beezebub are able to

Some might argue that there is no reason to retell such horrors that took place during the Holocaust to children, or that the Holocaust did not take place, so what is the point in teaching it? The Holocaust did in fact happen, and it happened not long ago. Some people can not see this as fathomable, but it is possible that if we do not tell posterity of these horrors, they could very well happen again. The book Night written by Elie Wiesel paints a dark and very real depiction of the Holocaust. It recounts the time the author spent in Auschwitz and how the experience affected him. There are a number of reasons why the Holocaust should be studied in schools, including how recently the Holocaust took place, the possibility that something similar
