Should college be free? The first reason it should be free is it would provide every american a chance to improve themselves and help them get more educated. The second reason is it would relieve the stress from the students that were trying to work a job to pay for their bills and study for upcoming exams and other assignments they must finish. The third reason is America would have a better educated population and it would help people get the job they have always wanted and help them make more money. College should be free because it would give every American a good education, we would have a better educated population, and it would help people get the jobs they have always wanted and help them make more money.

If college was free students would have to want to continue their education and get a degree. While free would make college affordable, those receiving the benefit would need to have stipulations for the free classes they are attending. Michael J. Petrilli is the president of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute and research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. Petrilli states, “… just 40 percent of 12th graders are college-ready, even though nearly 70 percent already head straight into college.” He is correct that many high school graduates are not prepared to transition to college. Many don’t have the attention span to sit in longer classes. Students are used not study over a time period, but rather cram the night before the due assignment. Some stipulations would be; you have to finish and get a degree, you have to keep your GPA up, and if you drop out without a good reason you have to pay back the money you used.

I personally don't think that college should be free. Students who pay for their college are more motivated, hard working and independent. Many students would have poor motivation to finish school, because they can always come back. As a matter of fact students with ambitions to get university degree are learning much harder in high school than other, who thinks they don’t need an extra paper. There are many students that are so smart, and they will find the way to get money for school. With extra work and help from family students will be able to afford college tuitions. One of the main reasons why college should not be free is because of the common conception of free things: free things are not good quality. Nothing that is given out for free is ever good quality, they are usually simple things such as a pen or sunglasses covered in a company's logo—never anything with great use. Some students would have the funds to begin their life decisions earlier, although some cannot make those choices till later in life, but by having free college could those choices could become possible sooner. Not all students have life decisions they chose or opted into so having something like looking forward to free tuition could boost their confidence in life and get on the right track to become something or someone they have longed to become. Typically when something is labeled as free people tend to take advantage of it, however, it’s not always in a positive way. In this day and age it has gotten increasingly difficult to obtain any type of job, especially without a degree of any sort. Which is why there has been more of a push for people to continue school and go to college, thus the debate of whether or not college should be free in an effort to make it approachable for all students. Should the United States develop a system for free college tuition? Free college tuition would benefit many college students and people interested in getting a higher education because as of the moment the education system is built around money and having to get student loans or scholarships if you cannot come up with tuition up front. It would also take a lot of money out of the economy for the first 10 years or so, mainly because it would take people being able to graduate with a degree for a higher salary for the United States to be able to charge more on taxes to make up for the money lost going to pay for the faculty salary and the student textbook fees. Many are for a free college tuition system but many are also against it because nobody wants to pay even more on taxes but once the people who are against it would see the amount of money begin put back into the economy from the raised taxes there would be able to see the goal of the whole idea. The United States needs to develop a system for free college to give students the ability to get an education they never would have been able to get before and would allow for more money to be brought into the economy from more Americans getting higher paying jobs and make the U.S. a more prosperous nation.

College tuition should not be free by any means necessary. Students would not take college seriously if there was no price. College students would totally take advantage of the opportunity to go to college for free and completely blow it , it would even the playing field for everyone to be equal because college tuition is what keeps everyone else out. Free college is something that has been the topic of debate for years now. There are countries that already have free college, such as Germany for example.
