Essay on Comparison Between High School and College

After reading those two articles, I think college writing is totally different from high school writing; we need to put much more effort on developing our research, thinking and writing skills. In college writing, we will use tools like academic writing situation to help us in creating papers. And we must be responsible for all assignments and works in order to be successful. It is not difficult to write, but writing with professional vocabulary and correct format with our own fresh thoughts is challenging. As Strong said, “Writing is thinking.”, there is no perfect first draft, as long as we rewrite with consistent thinking, we will be a qualified college writer.

The purpose of college is to prepare a young adult for the real world and to give them the knowledge they need to succeed in their future career. High school, however, is simply a transition period. It is in high school that students learn what it is they like to do and what career will be a good fit for them. High school prepares teenagers for college, but college prepares young adults for the real world. Although both high school and college are competitive environments which education is the main priority, the college environment will better prepare students for the real world because of the differences in rigor of the curriculum and the differences in the level of responsibility.

As we go on in life we face many challenges and new situations that we deal with. A new situation that most people deal with is college and all the changes that come along with it. What many people don't realize is that high school, in many ways, is similar and differrent from college. Not only are people changing but the surroundings and work change as well. There are some things that seem to never change such as some work and people.

In the America, children begin school around the age of six. Once a student enters elementary school, most stay there for five to six years before they go on to secondary school, which involves middle school and high school. After graduating high school some students go on to pursue a “higher education” through college, but any further schooling after high school is no longer mandatory. In the professional world it is becoming harder and harder for high school students to find their footing and obtain high paying jobs without a college degree and it’s easy to see why that is. The differences between a high school and college education are drastic, as American cities struggle to provide public high school’s with modern technology as well as improved educative practices continues the gap between a basic and higher education is only going to increase. Upon observing the differences between college and high school one can’t help but notice the huge differences between the two institutions.

Schools are undoubtedly important to one’s education. The most important of those schools are high schools and colleges because they have the most impact on deciding what occupation a student wants to pursue. Although high schools and colleges share similarities in providing education, there are also many differences between each other.

From generations to generations I been told to be careful on campus, hang around the right people and do your work on time so I transform that into the golden rule. As I got closer to my high school graduation, I started to put all that advice to use and be prepare for this experience as a college student and be considered an adult instead of a little kid who has to let my mom sign my permission slip so I could go on a field trip that was around the corner. So when I realized that time was winding down I also realized that my family never mentioned their college experience! With all the advice my family gave me about college I am really thankful but if I had to choose two things they should’ve told me prior to stepping on college ground it would be parking

High School and College are both educational institutes for a student to grow and expand their knowledge. The People who instill knowledge in students are none other than Professors/Teachers. Both places are chock-full of experiences and filled with many memories. A student graduates from High School and again in College... Both play an important role in making a person into a productive member of society.

In high school there are many cliques that form. The rich students bond together in the preppy clique. There are also cliques for those that are involved in sports. Cliques form in a wide variety and every student is in some way or another involved in at least one. College also has cliques that are very similar. As soon as you “warm up” to the college life, you will find yourself involved in one and there’s nothing wrong with that. It will help you meet new people and ease the transition from high school to college. These cliques help the school year pass quicker and make it more memorable when you are doing things with friends as compared to being alone the whole year.

It is often said, that high school, prepares a student for college. For certain, a student is being prepared, but only for what the world has to offer, and that is making choices on what to pursue. Certainly, most people would concur with this statement. But, the fact to consider is, that high school does not prepare a student for the major difference in the challenge.

High school and college are educational grounds for a student to enrich their life with knowledge. Having an education is an important aspect of life. It is essential in any work field and provides a person with the tools to achieve self-improvement and success. When transitioning from high school to college can be gratifying but also challenging. High School and college are both forms of education; however, they differ in responsibility, grading standards, and teaching standards.

     Another similarity between high school and college is the multi-cultural and multi-racial school setting. It is quite interesting to observe many different and unique individuals coming together for one sole purpose: to receive an education. Similarly, both high school and college provide the opportunity to meet and associate with a variety of different people. Having group discussions in class, and doing assigned group projects may lead to meeting different students that you normally would not associate with. Meeting these different students could result in the beginning of flourishing friendships and wonderful relationships.

“America pays dearly for its high school dropouts. When young people do not graduate from high school the economic impact is extensive” (Bartos 1). Both educational institutions are key to promote fewer high school dropouts. High school and college both highlight the importance of education and expanding the knowledge of students. Although, they both are keys to success, they are vastly different. There are many similarities and differences between college and high school life.

High school and college have some differences and some similarities. Some major differences between high school and college is that in college you schedule your classes for a certain time through the day, while in high school you have classes one after another till the end of the school day. Also college classes are long while high school classes are about only 50 minutes. Some major similarities between the two is that you still have to study for your classes as well as you still have papers and homework to worry about. Even though both our still school and may be similar is some aspects, they are still very different in many ways.

High school and college are completely two different steps in your life high school. While both sides are different in many ways, college life can be very difficult for some student while high school most of the students find it easy in many ways.
