When it comes to ethics involving controversial topics such as the HB2 law, which permits transgender people to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with instead they have to use the bathroom that identifies with the sex they were born with. There are two different ways to look at this situation. Obviously the main perspectives are from opposing sides. The purpose of the boycotts are to create social justice and by businesses contributing to the movement, they are trying to protest a political action but does it only affect the intended target? Big corporations such as Paypal and The NBA have contributed to the the protest to show support to the LBGTQ community. According to a video on USAtoday.com, Paypal CEO explains their reasoning behind revoking their expansion to Charlotte, …show more content…
From Paypals perspective, They are performing a good deed by not supporting a town for a political outcome. Yes the overall intentions are to target the city but who else is being affected by this action? What about the employees that were already hired to work at this building? Do all those people lose their jobs? That is a lot of employees that will no longer have the opportunity to be employed at paypal even if they did not support the HB2 law, they are still impacted. So is the loss of the potential jobs justifiable because it was for a good cause? The utilitarianism theory can also be applied to the opposing side as well. Gov. Pat McCrory has explained that the reason he passed the law was because he felt that the privacy of the citizens of North Carolina would be violated with allowing the opposite gender to use which every bathroom they identified with. Which is an appropriate reason for the mass majority but still is not fair to those affected. The Deontology theory i feel best fits with the businesses retracting their association with the town because their going above and beyond to
According to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, the Affordable care Act from President Obama gives consumers more options and benefits when seeking coverage from insurance company. The article states that “more than 1 million people gathered in Washington and in cities around the country… to the inauguration of President Trump (Stein, Hendrix, and Hauslohner 1). These people marched in order to protest the treatment of women, minorities, and immigrants by Trump. They held signs and made their voices heard by people all over the world. This march can be compared to the march of Dr. King and his comrades to seek justice for the unfair treatment of people of color.

The effect of this transaction and next year’s income statement would be the ending inventory balance will increase and added in the cost of goods sold. The current period, the high value of the inventory balance will imply lower gross margins. The income tax expenses will decrease as the income tax expenses are usually proportionately depending on the company’s net earnings. In the next year, the transaction will increase in income and tax expense. Because a lot of inventories will be processed into finished goods which increase the gross sales, increasing the level of gross profit and earnings in the company. The income tax expenses and net earnings will increase.
I think that major protesting for this organization has been to bring awareness to the police brutality against African Americans; many of the protests have taken place when blacks have been injured or killed by police. I being a criminal justice major have learned the past four years that blacks are highly overrepresented in the criminal justice system. This week in the notes we learned that inequality in the criminal justice system is a
When it comes to the HB2, it is not going against transgender human beings, it is simply keeping citizens in the community safe. For example, a man could say that he was transgender and called himself a female just to get into the woman’s bathroom and sexually assault a woman or a child. No matter what anyone says, most women tend to be frightened when they are with or around a strange man. For example, in the essay “Just Walk On By: Black Men and Public Space”, it talks about how Staples and a young woman were walking in the same direction on a sidewalk at night. When the young woman realized that Staples was behind her, she instantly became frightened, which is understandable. The young woman began to walk faster trying to get away from Staples not grasping that he wasn’t going to hurt her. Eventually, the woman was out of sight and away from Staples. Even though the essay “Just Walk On By: Black Men and Public Space” does not talk about bathroom safety itself, it does show how people feel harmed by others looks and who is around them because of stereotyping. For women and children, the door is always open for the possibility to become sexually assaulted. With this law passed, it gives women and children a small sense of relief. Supporters of the HB2 stand up for their rights and say that HB2 “defends religious liberty and protects girls in public restrooms
A law that states that all people are to be treated equal, no matter the race, sex, or religion. However, a landlord can refuse to rent houses, or banks denied housing laws because of the house bill 1523 there would be millions of homeless people. Medical professional refusing treatment to the sick and dying patients. For example, a patient has cancer, and the doctor is refusing to treat them because they have had a sex change, violates the United States Equal Rights Amendment to be treated equal. Pharmacies turning away women seeking to fill birth control prescriptions, state, and government employees right to deny marriage licenses to same sex couples are all examples how the new law violates the rights of individual to have freedom of choice. Although everyone is entitled to their own religious beliefs, but when you are a business owner, or runs a business that are funded by social service agency open to the public, those beliefs do not give them a right to discriminate. While all situations may differ, one thing remains is that religion is being used as an excuse to discriminate against, and harm people who views are different from what the law states it to
Administrative standards are policies and procedures established “to prevent, detect, contain, and correct HIPAA security violations” (The HIPAA Security Rule Primer, n.d.). They are administrative actions used to satisfy security requirements as mandated by federal and state
While for some a people using a bathroom is not an issue, because it does not directly affect them in a personal way. This to me is just another example of people using politics, fear, and religion to leave a legacy in history. History is what shapes and changes the world around us. You will always have the conspiracy of how much will your vote cost me to secure? When you support laws or ordinances that seek to regulate morality, behavior, and your fellow man/woman’s rights to be free you are standing against the constitution that you so often swear by as the most precious document ever laid in the hands of a nation. The rights and laws outlined in that document allow for the freedom of Americans to behave in the way they see fit, and not the way the politicians do.

In this case scenario I would do my job and give them out to the families that have a limited income and cannot afford them. If one sees that they are coming to the expiration date soon then I would believe that it is okay to take them home then, but these samples are for those less fortunate. It is ethically correct to not take the samples home unless they are about to expire and be wasted, but only then. Legally it is not yours to take home it is for the patients.
A counselor should be aware of the signs when their ability to work affects their clients. Eloise have encountered a traumatic incident, making her socially separated, and to some degree numb, prompting feelings of lashing out on others. Eloise needs to help herself first with her circumstance it is conflicting with her counseling, this is the rule that applies specifically to counseling (Corey,Corey,Corey & Callanan, 2014). In the event that Eloise needs to address her trauma experience, she can't help other individuals (Help, 2015). The client would not benefit from outside intervention if counselor, vitality is depleted from their experience, she can't retain what the client is experiencing. Self-care is essential to Eloise, wellbeing is one of the key factor in being a counselor (Counseling, 2011). A counselor needs a huge measure of compassion for their clients, Eloise can't give that because she is need of her own perspective.
Due to several recent occurrences of being challenged on ethical compliance issues from the Compliance Officer, prohibiting partnerships with local community organizations, businesses, and VSOs, I am writing to receive guidance on how I should proceed. Recently two of our VSO organizations provided an annual cookout for the Veterans and staff at the Sumter CBOC; the event generated positive media coverage. The Veterans and staff were pleased to be the recipients of this event, because they cannot always travel to enjoy programs at the medical center in Columbia. In response to the Summer of Service, the VSOs and Volunteers were honored to show their appreciation to the Veterans for their service and the staff for the care they render to our

Everyday, healthcare professionals are faced with ethical dilemmas in their workplace. These ethical dilemmas need to be addressed in order to provide the best care for the patient. Healthcare professionals have to weigh their own personal beliefs, professional beliefs, ethical understandings, and several other factors to decide what the best care for their patient might be. This is illustrated in Mrs. Smith’s case. Mrs. Smith is an 85 year old who has suffered from a large stroke that extends to both of her brains hemispheres which has left her unconscious. She only has some brain stem reflexes and requires a ventilator for support. She is unable to communicate how she wishes to proceed with her healthcare. Mrs. Smith’s children, Sara and Frank have different views regarding their mother’s plan of care. The decision that needs to be made is whether to prolong Mrs. Smith’s life, as Sara would like to do, or stop all treatments and care, as Frank feels his mother would want. In the healthcare field, there are situations similar to this case that happen daily where moral and ethical judgment is necessary to guide the decision that would be best for the patient. The purpose of this paper is to explore and discuss, compare and contrast the personal and professional values, ethical principles, and legal issues regarding Mrs. Smith’s quality of life and further plan of care.
