Evidence Based Literature Review: Patient family education is an organized, planned and individualized method in which we assess knowledge and bring change in their behavior. The ambition is to help patient and their family to raise understanding about the disease and treatment besides this take involvement in the management of their health care requirements. According to The Aga Khan university Hospital Karachi Patient and Family Education (n.d.) the aim of patient education is that the care giver should know what is obligatory to understand to accomplish patients need. The patient, his family and other care givers play a dynamic role and part in the process of care. The importance of this model is to make a connection between patient, family and health care team members especially nurses. The model helps nurses and other health care providers to build an inter-professional platform in which they coordinate with each other, take decision with patient and family. According to Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organization (JCAHO), Patient and Family Education (PFE) Standards (1997) to promote patient, family involvement about the health care options is done by making decision.
