In today’s world, many students have had some sort of tragedy happen to them or their families. In his novel, “Indian Horse,” Richard Wagamese chronicles the story of one man’s journey through his troubled life. He uses descriptive language to present painful memories of loss and abuse. "Indian Horse" accurately illustrates the effects of irresponsible drinking, the abuse that took place in Residential Schools, and the inspiring way in which adversity can be overcome; for these reasons, among others, Canadian students should engage with this subject matter despite its use of explicit language.

The natural habitat of the horse is grassland and open forest. Horses origanally evoled in sparsley vegatated habitats where other large plant eaters could not survive.

New discoveries have been found that prove the Giraffe family went through two stages of evolution, which involved cervical elongation. New studies done on Giraffe fossils reveals the likely hood of evolution in stages, “first toward the head, then later towards the tail a few million years later,” (Solounias, 2015). There were different species of Giraffe’s that underwent only one stage of the evolution process, and ended up becoming extinct. The modern Giraffe is the only species that have undergone the whole process of evolution. There are other Giraffes who have shorter necks mainly found in Africa, but they attribute their evolution of those species who only underwent one stage of the evolution process. The four main categories of evidence for evolution in accordance to the BAT tutorials are: fossil records, chemical and anatomical similarities, geographic distribution of related species, and genetic changes over generations. Fossil records allow researchers to examine evolution through past species. One example is the Archaeopteryx, a million year old fossil found in southern Germany that had characteristics of both dinosaurs and birds. This fossil finding resulted as the discovery that birds had evolved from reptilian ancestors. Also, the similarities between body structures in vertebrates make for a distinct link leading to the conclusion that they must share a common ancestor or a similarity in how they came to be. Additionally, the geographic location of certain species determines their evolution patterns. In certain areas of the world, there are animals that are native to that land and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Lastly, a species genetic alter over time in order to survive. In the case of a drastic environmental change that results in death, those that survive do so because they possess traits that allow them to survive. These are the only ones that will be likely to reproduce. Selective breeding in dogs is an example genetic changes over evolution. In these cases, dog breeders mate different breeds of dogs together in order to achieve the desired traits they want in a new breed of dog.

As a prey animal, the horse has eyes located at the side of the head which allows for a wider field of vision, useful when scanning for predators. However, due to eye location, the horse has only a small range of binocular vision which greatly impacts food selection. The inability to focus on one particular object paired with overall lack of depth perception requires the horse to graze in order to meet dietary requirements as it would be unable to hunt other animals. The equine has evolved to be an efficient grazing animal. The muzzle of the horse consists of sensitive nerves and strong muscles. The pairing of nerves and muscles allow a horse to selectively graze, avoiding plants that are sharp or thorny and separating them from the plants

Every living creature can reproduce making another copy of themselves with small variations. The variation can consist of characteristics Like the passing down of fur colour in mice or the development of the length in cane toad’s legs. When these changes occur to their offspring’s, evolution has taken place. Whilst many scientists believed in the theory of evolution, alters to the belief extended to a certain extent. Throughout this essay two scientists, Charles Darwin and Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, beliefs opinions and theories of evolution will be deconstructed.

Scientists such as Charles Darwin, Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Alfred Russel Wallace among others who studied evolution have suggested that all organisms evolved from simpler forms to the more complex forms that exist today. They base their evidence on environmental and climatic changes. Charles Darwin claims that as the environment and climate change, so do the organisms in the affected region (Jackson & Groves, 2015). The main idea of evolution is so that the animals may be able to cope with the current conditions. If the organisms’ structure and morphological structure do not modify themselves with the changing conditions, then these animals are bound to perish. To understand the idea behind evolution,

Many time organisms evolve due to environmental changes. To better understand evolution this paper will review a diagram of an organism and explain how the organism has evolved physiologically to become suited to fit its environment.

Geographic distribution of related species and the similarities of animals over large regions of land also prove that evolution has occurred in the past, and is still occurring today. Animals have adapted and evolved over time so that they can become suited to the environment around them allowing more animals to survive the harsh conditions proposed on them. For instance, bird's beaks have evolved from species to species based on the diet needs and the food available in each region over the decades.

The modern science considers "evolution" as one of the basic original concepts regarding life (Pojeta & Springer, 2001). The potent theory of evolution provides explanation of observable facts like "the history of life preserved in the fossil record; the genetic, molecular, and physical similarities and differences among organisms; and the geographic distribution of organisms today and in the past" (Pojeta & Springer, 2001).Without a doubt, evolution provides a structure to the establishment of new biological and paleontological trends. A number of scientific disciplines have verified the theory of evolution. In addition to its significance to modern science, the common man considers evolution as one of the most misapprehended and divisive issues. Such a state of affairs is regrettable as it is pointless to make this principal scientific concept controversial (Pojeta & Springer, 2001).

Animals live in all kinds of different places around the world ranging from desert, rainforest, savannas, and tundra. Some of these areas aren’t best fit for some animals to live in, but they adapt, but what is adaption? Adaption is what helps the animals stay alive in the current surrounding and situation. Animal’s adaption can range from the shape of its mouth or beak, the thickness of its fur, or even the color of the animal itself. For example camels have adapted to survive by their camel hump, they use the hump as sustenance when there isn’t any food around for them. Camels evolved to develop their hump because they live in a desert where there is a lack of food for them to eat. These adaptions didn’t just come from camels though, adaptions may have come from animals that are extinct. Some extinct animals may look somewhat familiar to the animals we see today, that’s because a lot of animal evolved from the same creature, but adapting to different areas. An example would be that a rodents live in one place, and some separated to another. Two of the same rodents now lived in different ecosystems, so they adapted to them differently than the other. One rodent evolved into a tree habitat so it developed flaps so it could glide to other trees, similar to a flying squirrel. The other rodent evolved with similar flaps, but the rodent was smaller so it could hide from its prey easier in the bushes.

The textbook defines evolution as a change within a species over time and have a common ancestry. Webster defines evolution as, cumulative inherited change in population of organisms though time leading to the appearance of new forms. These definition mean that over long periods of time genetic mutation develop in a species and these new traits are passed down through birth. One great depiction of this concept is Fig 3.5, introducing anthropology, showing the idea of how giraffes evolved. The idea of giraffes as we know them today came from herds of much smaller neck animals. The ones with longs necks possibly were able to eat the ever taller plants and because of this they survived and produces more and more offspring that would have this same trait of long necks, until no short necks were left. Evolution is a process of living things change slowly in a very long time, so it evolved into a new species more complete body structure. According to the theory of evolution, living now in contrast to living in the past. The ancestors of creatures alive today may experience changes in form and structure. In addition, may experience changes in both the structure and genetics in a very long time, so the shape was totally different from the original and finally generate different types of species present. So the plants and animals living there now was not the first time here on earth, but it comes from living in the past.
