Work of the Holy Spirit After Jesus completed His ministry here on earth, He ascended into heaven with a promise of sending a Helper. While on earth, Jesus required His followers and disciples to believe in Him and most importantly follow Him. In John 3:13 and 6:38, Jesus claims to have come from Heaven to fulfill the will of His father. After this achievement, He tells the disciples that he goes to prepare a place for them. Before ascending to Heaven, He promised not to leave without leaving

Enablement: as nonbelievers respond to God’s saving power, the Holy Spirit works in them to enable them respond to the gospel. This way, the Spirit strengthens faith for Christians and makes repentance possible for the non-believers. In Cor. 2: 4-5, Paul confesses that he had no superior wisdom and lacked eloquence. However, the message he proclaimed had a great demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the spirit illuminates the mind of Christians and consequently directs enablement to the willingness to obey God. The Spirit woos and then strengthens the will of humans to respond to God’s call. Moreover, the Spirit enables Christians to say no to sin that is present in the world and say yes to the teachings of God daily in their professional, social and Christian life (Grenz, 2000). The Holy Spirit acts as a teacher. His work is to teach the Christians in the ways of the truth. In John 14:26, the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus left as a helper to the disciples is depicted as a teacher. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit shall teach the Christians all things, and bring to your remembrance all things thus taught and all that Jesus said. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is a teacher to educate on all things. Moreover, he brings back the remembrance of the word taught when need arises (Tunner, 2013). The Holy Spirit’s work involves guiding the Christians in their daily lives. He guides
In his first chapter, McRaney emphasize the involvement of the Holy Spirit in the conversion of sinners into saints (p. 27), and the all part of evangelism; in the life of His witnesses, and lost people, regeneration and conversion. The Holy Spirit helps the witness and the lost person’s understanding. When Christian who within the heart of God, desire to see all persons come into recovered relationship in faith to sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Evangelism begins. All that is in God’s control.

Charles Ryrie holds a Th.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary and a PH.D from the University of Edinburgh. Hence, he is quite knowledgeable about theology and the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Ryrie’s book is comprised of twenty-two chapters. He includes a section in the book that provides other helpful books the reader might find invaluable to read on the subject of the Holy Spirit. At the end of the book there are two indexes – an index of subjects and an index of select scripture passages.
The fundamental theme presented in chapter twenty five and twenty six of David W. Dorries book Spirit Filled Christology maintains that Jesus came, not only as a pathway for salvation, but also to lead as an example of the Spirit’s movements and to empower His church with supernatural abilities to further the ministry that He began. In order to expound upon his statements, Dorries uses historical context.
The Holy Spirit is the one that allows those He chooses to operate in a greater capacity. I think the book of Acts should be referred to the “Acts of the Holy Spirit.” Statement # 2 (From The Cradle, The Cross, and The Crown Chapter 8, Loc 10794 of 28382, 1st Paragraph)

When an individual comes to faith in Christ he or she is not left alone to battle the struggles of sin, lead people to Jesus, experience heartache and sorrow, find God’s will, or live a life that is pleasing and honoring to the Lord. No, Christians are given an awesome gift that cannot be purchased or earned. Believers are blessed with the gift of a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John 14:16, “ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”(ESV) Sadly, many believers do not have a correct understanding of who the Holy Spirit is, or what He does. The purpose of this paper is define the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit of God is the active force or power in one’s life, which most certainly includes spiritual formation (Pettit, 2008, p. 46). When Jesus was speaking with his disciples he made it clear – by using the analogy of a vine and branches – that apart from him they could do nothing (John 15:5). Only if one is connected to Christ will they have the ability to bear fruit and the way Jesus empowers those connected to him is through the Holy Spirt that that father will send in his name (John 14:26). The fact is that the triune God dwells in the Christian in and through the Holy Spirit. One sees this when they place multiple passages together to gain a full understanding of this concept. For example, Jesus made it clear that he and the father would come and make their home with the disciple (John 14:23). In 1 Corinthians 6:19 Paul reminds the Corinthians that their bodies are the very temple of God because the Holy Spirit dwells in them which is similar to what Jesus said would happen when he sent the Holy Spirit after his resurrection and ascension (John 14:17, 16:7).
He empowered Jesus to cast out demons, to heal, and to preach (Coleman, p. 102). God’s work, whatever the form, is accomplished only through the Holy Spirit.
After these events took place, Jesus leaves to begin his preaching. In doing so, he also chooses his disciples while walking along the Sea of Galilee. Jesus took his disciples with him through Galilee and began his preaching there. He healed the sick and suffering, and also performed
The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father, and is equal in essence and in power in the Trinity to the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit was originally sent by Jesus after his ascension into heaven, Jesus himself saying that he would send a “helper” after he departed from the earth. This spirit is worshipped just as the Father and the Son are, and also participated in the creation of the world, sustaining and giving life continually to all things, and exhibits the uniqueness and characteristics of the third person in the Trinity. This is the same Holy Spirit that divinely inspired the infallible word of God, and although the canon is now closed, the Holy Spirit still works powerfully and constantly in the life of the church and in believers. The Holy Spirit is the giver of spiritual gifts, which are given at conversion and help the believer become more like their creator. The presence of the Holy Spirit is evident in the life of all true believers, and this Spirit turns cowardly men into mighty warriors for Christ who accomplish actions way beyond their natural ability.
The Bible talks about several roles that the Holy Spirit plays in the lives of people today. The first thing that the Holy Spirit does is he provides conviction of sin to all people. John 16:8 said, “And when he comes, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment”. Also, the Holy Spirit works in several ways for many believers that follow Christ. One of the roles that He works is to serve as a comforter and a helper in our daily life. In John 14:16-17 this means that there is someone that is helping us and guiding us and encouraging us during difficult time of
Before Jesus left, He said to his disciples, "You tarry in Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." And He said, "You will receive power after that when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And then you will be my witnesses, in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and to the utter-most parts of the earth."
The various gifts of the Holy Spirit as listed in Scripture are conveyed according to the will of the Holy Spirit to every man for the eventual purpose of the edification and building up the church body.
In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is the source of life and creation. The Holy Spirit worked in the lives of men that God placed His Spirit upon such as prophets and kings to perform His service. Therefore, the Holy Spirit was not given universally in the Old Testament but selectively and temporarily for service. However, in the New Testament, the Spirit grants life to God’s people and believers are brought to faith, in Jesus, through the sovereign work of the Spirit.
