I think that stores should not be open on thanksgiving because one it will take time away from thanksgiving and spending time with your famille. And two some people are opening loans just to go shopping on thanksgiving and they are going into debt just to go shopping even though people could go shopping after their dinner or spending time with their families., they should not be open on thanksgiving because people are making loans to go shopping and people have died shopping. Here is one reason why stores shouldn’t be open. Some people are making their credit card debt higher by shopping and having to pay more off. And some people are getting loans just to go shopping. And if they do it they will have more money to pay off. And some people might not be able to pay it off. And they might not be able to pay it off hand have enough money. And they …show more content…
Because they are going shopping. Here are some reasons why they don’t spend time with their families. They don’t spend time with their families because they want a good deal so they miss out on families time with their families. And people don’t often get to spend time with their families and they don’t take advantage of it instead they go shopping. Another way they could spend time with their families and have them employees spend time is to shop online and they could open on black friday and then they can ship it instead of them missing thanksgiving with their family. Another reason why they should not be open on thanksgiving is that some people are getting hurt. And by hurt i mean either injured as bad as to go to the hospital or that it is fatal (dead/deadly). Her is one reason why or how people are getting hurt. One is that people say that they would kill for stuff well a someone (anonymous) because the police won’t say who it was and there was a disagreement over a parking spot and it sadly ended in two being shot and two being wounded and lucky they were not hurt badly and they
In his argument, Leonard guessed that Black Friday shopping is degrading to America as a whole. Throughout the article, he states that people should avoid large sprees of retail spending “For the sake of the U.S. economy” (Leonard 165); he insists that voluntarily overbuying causes the country to
This strategy does not have any impact on locking-in retailers. Also, this could be easily duplicated by another competitor for the second major holiday, which is 4th of July. For example, another competitor would copy the idea of using coupons to sell their product and use it for the upcoming holiday.
Other retailers should only close on Sundays if it follows their religious belief/standpoint. Otherwise, they wise well be open Sundays, because restaurants such as McDonald’s are all over the world, and different countries may not practice their religion on Sundays. Chick-fil-A is founded by a Christian man, who choses to have his business closed on Sundays, because he believes in a day of
Holidays are always celebrated no matter religion, beliefs, or culture. Some are recognized more than others but none two are as highly recognized like the cherished Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. The pair may seem vastly different, as they are two completely separate occasions, but in actuality they do share very similar attributes. Many of the similarities and differences are about to be explained, so here goes.
In this article I 'll give my view on this. Disclaimer: I own a couple of Small Business 's which (potentially) benefit from this decision. I have looked after the HR department of a larger ASX listed company in the past and have some reasonable HR experience. I also really think retail shops should be closed on a Sunday so people can do other (more sociable, community and family friendly) activities rather than trudging around shops
The market also takes advantage on this holiday, even though the income from each product is a little bit less than the regular price, they tend to sell many products more than the regular business days. The market can also take advantage and sell products in which were not sold in the previous season. Black Friday is also good for advertising products. There were quite a few stores in the mall that were handing samples to try their product.
Why waste money on things that are unnecessary? Finally, the holiday saves money for humans. It keeps the little they have in their
Thanksgiving traditions don't end on Thanksgiving Day. In the 1950s, the day after Thanksgiving was called Black Friday by factory managers because so many workers called in sick and the Philadelphia Police Department took to calling the day Black Friday to describe the traffic jams, crowds and shoplifters during the start of the holiday shopping season. Black Friday signals the start of the holiday shopping season, but it may be a tradition that's continuing to evolve as stores vie to be the earliest to open Thanksgiving Day.
Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated in America, but it has a fairly dark history to what most people know. Most people know that the Pilgrims came over to America on a boat called the mayflower and made friends with the Native Americans then they celebrated it and made this holiday. While this is somewhat true there is more to it than that. For example the Pilgrims may have came on a boat called the Mayflower, but it wasn’t to make friends with the Native Americans but to spread
When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.
In recent years, fewer people have been shopping outside (about 74 million in 2015 compared to 85 million in 2011), but the number is still large enough to pose a threat to the environment and retail worker happiness (TheBalance). Since there are people who will shop on Black Friday regardless, Buy Nothing Day may not be a permanent solution to overconsumption, but it could be the first step. The Mall of America, one of the largest shopping malls in the country, closed its doors on Thanksgiving to allow time for employees to spend time with their families (CNBC). If other retail leaders follow this example, Buy Nothing Day can become a reality. The more people that participate in raising awareness, the more others will realize that an obsession with consumerism is not beneficial for the
Some people say that workers get a free meal with their working on Thanksgiving. While this is true, it just wouldn’t be the same as a turkey dinner with family. Also, it would make you look better as a family friendly place. You could make special online deals as well. Your employees would be so much happier the rest of November/December if they got to spend Thanksgiving with their
I do think other retailers should consider it. I know there a lot of people that shop or go out to eat on Sunday’s because it is a day they do not have to worry about much, but what about the employees behind the counter? They may have other days off during the week, but it does not feel the same and the pivotal Sunday. On the other hand, stores closing on Sunday’s would be tough for a lot of consumers and retailers could miss out on revenue
For the draw backing for in-store shopping is; you do spend hours looking for the right product or in the lines trying to just purchase it. Or listening to all the people around you and all the additional noises you hear in stores. Not to mention stores have set hours on when you can shop and when you can not, this is something which can change with a sign on the door.
People may get caught up in the excitement of the day, and that can help them to spend even more money. While waiting in line, customers at the front of the line seem to be excited and happy. However, at the end of the line, customers appear to be more frustrated and anxious. Some consumers plan their Black Friday shopping trips weeks in advance. There are many websites available for people to view Black Friday advertisements online, before they are supposed to be released to the public. Walmart has tried year after year for the advertisements not to be leaked, but they usually end up on these websites before they are supposed to (4 Years Strong: Walmart Sends Another Cease & Desist, 2011). Stores may not want to have their advertisements released early for a couple of reasons. First, consumers having the ability to research products and having too much time to explore all of their options may mean that consumers will not make as many spontaneous purchases on Black Friday. They also do not want to have their competition see their deals, and then have them beat their prices. Having the advertisements earlier though means consumers are able to plan what stores they want to go to, which may lead to less chaos on the actual day. People are motivated by saving money on Black Friday. Some consumers may even see it as a competition. For some, because there is only a limited selection available for many of the items that are
