Exploring Different Printers
Printers allow you to transfer images/text from your PC to paper, and can do so, using a variety of colour. In general, there are three different types of printers, two of which we are going to review. The three different types of printer are: a Dot Matrix Printer, an Ink Jet Printer, and a Laser printer.
Laser Printers:
The way laser printers work, is by using a print engine. This works by shining a very thin pattern of light, on to a type of metal drum. Black ink (toner), will stick to the parts of the drum that has been exposed to the light. The paper then rolls over the drum, and the image is transferred from the drum to the paper, but before the paper

The set back is, that they are expensive to buy, and very expensive to run, as toner cartridges expire after about 6000 prints. Most laser printers are used for printing text and pictures in black and white, because although the colour cartridges give excellent quality, they are VERY expensive. This printer could be very useful when doing my future fashions project. The high-quality prints could be used to make leaflets/flyers, which could be used for advertisement purposes.
Dot Matrix Printers ===================
A dot matrix printer is quite a contrast form a laser printer, as it uses simple technology, to that of a laser. The dot matrix printers have a head, which moves backwards and forwards across the paper. On the head there could be either nine or 24 steel pins, that imprint the image/text onto the paper, using an ink ribbon between the two.
Dot matrix printers are quite cheap to buy, because they were the first types of printer to be invented. When the ink ribbon needs changing, they are cheap to purchase, making them cheap to run. These printers also allow you to make a carbon copy. When the steel pins hit the paper on the top, the pressure made, imprints a replica on the page below. The disadvantages of the dot matrix printer are that they can be very noisy. The qualities of the dot matrix printers are also very
Each of the children did very well with identifying concepts of a book the first child that we will look at is 6 years old. She goes to kindergarten all day and has grown up with many books around. She was able to hold the book right side up for me, show me the front cover, and show me the back cover. She was also able to show me the title page of the book. Lastly she was able to show me the first page of the text. Although she did do a good job of pointing out some main parts of the book she did struggle with a couple others. She wasn’t able to turn some of the pages of the books she would skip three or four at a time. She also had a hard time pointing to the title of the book if it was not in the top of the cover. Lastly the child could

Printers, Scanners & Photocopies – These are normally combined within the same machine if it’s multi-functional.
The printing press was an invention that forever changed the world. Some may say that it was the most important discovery in terms of communication. The printing press affected many other discoveries as well as various major events such as the Age of Discovery and the Protestant Reformation. Both of these events were very important consequences of the printing press, however, the Reformation was the much more impacted consequence. The Protestant Reformation was affected by the printing press because it spread the 95 theses all over western Europe as well as spread the Gutenberg Bible, influencing and provoking questions about the Catholic religion.
Everyday people read newspapers and books, but where did printing begin? The movable type printing press by Johannes Gutenberg made this all possible. Johannes first conceived of this idea of the printing press in the 15th century in order to speed up the slow process of producing books (Bantwal). The movable type printing press, the first real technology of its kind, helped to solve problems, but in turn also caused problems. This technology did influence many areas of life in its lifespan. This includes challenging the church and poisoning people with the increased toxins from mass products of materials. Depending on one’s point of view, this invention could be the best or worst thing to happen during the 15th century. Regardless of
Laser printers are usually bigger than inkjet printers. A printer can print one sided or double sided. Most small offices purchase an all in one inkjet printer which means that this printer can print from a computer and can be used as a photocopier it is also able to scan documents and send fax through the internet. Printers need to be connected to a computer or computer network either wirelessly or through a cable to be able to print documents from one or more computers. Big company have often a range of different printers and copiers available depending on what is needed by the staff: fast big quantity printing or precise high quality picture and photo printing.
The printing press revolutionized the world as people now know it. Since kids humans have learned through books, and documents. But what if they would never have them? Would humanity still be illiterate and isolated, just focusing on religion?. The printing press was created by Johannes Gutenberg in 1450 giving people more books to read, the alphabet, and religion with the bibles he printed, making a huge jump on people's education. Even though the printing press was really influential in exploration times, it was more influential in the reformation era.
(Hook) There have been many milestones that have changed human communication, from the invention of sign language to the development of the internet. (Bridge) One of those milestones was the Printing Press. (Background) The Printing Press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg in Germany during the year 1450. By 1500, more than 20 million books were printed.
In the 1450s the first practical printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg. This invention was a major mile-stone in the evolution of human communication. In the (Background Essay) it notifies that “The idea wasn’t new. The Chinese introduced woodblock printing in 600 CE.” This exploration inspired Gutenberg, and saw his chance to reform it into something even better. This made him ask himself “Why not metal letters that wouldn’t wear out, set in a frame that could be inked, papered and pressed?” in the (Background Essay). The purpose of this essay is to explain whether the exploration or reformation of the printing press was the more important consequence.
Hyper Competitors especially those that more diverse in technology. Very competitive and people want the best and newest technology
As André Gide once said, “Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” During the mid-1400s in Europe, German inventor Johannes Gutenberg created the printing press, a machine that revolutionized the way ideas spread. The printing press quickened the production of books, speeding up the spread of information from one place to another; it also educated people in the areas of reading and writing. However, the two main consequences of the printing press were the Exploration and the Protestant Reformation. Although the Reformation was substantially impacted by the printing press, exploration was a greater consequence of the printing press because it sparked interest in exploration in the European citizens,
In the beginning of the 1400s, books were all handwritten, and only institutions like churches had them. This made the chance for leaders that had access to books to change or censor some of the vital information withheld in them. However, in 1455, Johann Gutenberg invented the printing press, a machine that made it much easier to spread books and thus, ideas. This changed the entire course of history, making it possible for people to spread these ideas and discover truth for themselves. There are many specific instances of it, but it is hard to see the whole picture. The printing press, one of the most revolutionary inventions in human history, was an integral part of the Reformation during the 1400’s through the 1600’s.
I read the article Beginning to Read: Thinking and Learning About Print by Marilyn Jager Adams. I chose to read this article because it was the one that looked most appealing to me after viewing the titles of the other articles.
In 1350 the renaissance had begun, it was the time to bring back and restore many things from the past. Many people from the renaissance time tried to make a living on their own by painting and writing books. Although it seemed very hard to spread their ideas around the world but until 1444 their worries began to shrink. A man from Germany named Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, which made possible for people to have copies of books and letters in much lesser time than they were used to. The invention of the printing press was one of most notable inventions from the last millennium because it brought very important changes and accomplishments in the whole world that we can still
