I’m not sure if my fandom is considered a fandom, furthermore I’m not sure if my artifact is a real artifact let alone an artifact for my fandom. I have chosen to bring in a picture of my grandparents after a long debate between cd’s, movies, artwork, books and etc. Being that my grandparents are partially responsible for my fandom today only made sense that I presented there love. I’m a enormous fan for true love, my grandparents represent true love in my eyes. We all will have opinions on love along with the different meanings of happiness, nonetheless my grandparents have been together for 50plus years and it wasn’t always happy times. They had a great deal of hurt throughout their journey but it's always been loyalty and to me love without
My artifact is a necklace and it’s so unique and important to me because it has my name on it. And it’s so beautiful, in the middle there is my name with Arabic letters it’s so old so I don’t wear it any more but it still my favorite on of all. I allow keep it in a small box in my bed room near to me so that nobody will play or touch it. I get it when I was 11 years old from a special people in a special event. The artifact represents personal objects and meaningful moments, person influence on our own life. These were the last words ever spoken between me and my best friend, Stephen. I never saw him again after that.We weren’t allowed to speak because his girlfriend didn’t like it. He left the day before I ended 8th grade to live with his daughters. He may have been 16 years older than me, but I never had a better friend. He died 3 years later, in 2016.He fell in the shower and the doctors told him he had a concussion, when n reality he had a minor brain bleed that killed him 3 days later. The item that I will be using for my cultural artifact speech, is my tattoo that I got for my past birthday. The tattoo represents him in the way that I am able to remember him best, with something he loved to do. He loved music and playing the guitar
Identify an artifact that embodies or refers to ethical values, and write a sentence stating what the ethical connection is. Examples of such artifacts are provided in the resources this week, but they may also be found in literature, other forms of music, live performing arts such as theater, and other visual arts.
The artifact that shows and represents me during my years in high school is my Principal’s Honor Roll Award. This artifact came from all my classes based on all the grades I earned. The artifact I was awarded, was acquired by all, the effort I put into my classes by turning in my homework, classwork, passing my quizzes and by participating during class. I earned this award by earning 3.5 GPA or better.
The first artifact I am using is the zoo animals. Antonina the zookeeper’s wife, nurses all of the baby animals she also takes care of the animals that are hurt or sick. Before the war had started the animals were Antonina’s life she guarded them with all her heart. When the war began lots of the animals were killed by bombs that were shot off by Nazi Germany. Other animals were killed by Nazi soldiers because the soldiers thought that the animals
Today the sunday paper arrived with again bad news. Even the man that delivered the sunday paper had a look of sadness and despair. Today is March 1st, 2017 and still people are upset about the new president. I just can’t believe that so many people are still mad about the new president. “Wow.. what a surprise… another article on the rioting. Rioting on the streets. Security in Washington D.C. is low and the police force is spread out thin because of all this. If I were someone living in Washington I would move out. Why did I ever move here. Look at this. Artifacts are being stolen daily from museums. Cops are trying very hard to stop this but there numbers are spread very low. Because of this,
Nonverbal communication plays an important part in any interpersonal transaction. Artifacts are ornaments or adornments that communicate messages about us. We choose artifacts for both function and for the message that they say about us. When people enter your space and see an artifact they may interpret it in different ways.
Merriam-Webster defines the word artifact as something created by human usually for a practical purpose: an object remaining from a particular period. In my family, there aren’t a lot of artifacts, but we do have a special artifact that means a lot to my mom’s side of the family. Similar to the way Brazilians celebrate Brazilian Carnival, in New Orleans, we celebrate Mardi Gras. Celebrating Mardi Gras is my family tradition. But my mom and I haven’t been in years due to school complications and other commitments. Every year when my mom and I miss Mardi Gras we go to the basement and find different Mardi Gras beads, and where them all day.
My culture artifact is the Hina doll because it is a tradition in Japan to decorate with them for the Hinamatsuri. The Hinamatsuri is also known as "girls day". This is on March 3, and you wish girls good health and future happiness. The Hinamatsuri's origin was during the Heian period. The people would set afloat straw hina dolls and sent it down a river, which led to an ocean. This was used to take bad spirits away. The hina dolls are displayed on a hina dan. The hina dan is covered with a red carpet and the dolls are displayed on it. On the top is the imperial dolls ,which are the Emperor and the Empress. On the second platform holds the three court ladies. They are holding equipment for sake, a Japanese drink. On the third platform are
In the section Curiosities, Collections and Memorabilia, Susan Steward examines the symbolic meaning and narrative of the souvenir and how that relates to the found object. She explains how people authenticate meaning through souvenirs. Souvenirs authenticate the past while the past gives authentication to the collection as a whole. Souvenirs remind us of an experience we’ve had or allows us to imagine an experience we’ve never had. Steward says that souvenirs function as an allusion. There are meanings assigned to souvenirs that are basically dependent on the viewers prior experience. The trigger a viewer’s focus on relationships, people, places, destinations and events. Souvenirs create meanings that are fluid, constructed and reconstructed overtime, and therefore always incomplete.
Another important artifact in my life is my suitcase. My suitcase has been to L.A, Washington D.C., New York City, and even Hawaii. It has been everywhere I have. If I did not have my suitcase I would not have been able to travel because I would not have had any clothes or even a jacket. This is definitely one of the most important artifacts in my life.
Paul McCartney said he emulated Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis. As a result, McCartney and John Lenon have made it to be one of the best song writing teams. Additionally, McCartney has also emulated Little Richard’s singing style. Little Richard has a unique voice and way of singing as he puts emphasis and weight on both the start and end of his phrases inconsistently. It is an extraordinary sound where he pushes his exhalation to a high short scream. His highly energized falsetto is one that many rock singers love to employ (Soto-Morettini). His free-style kind of singing has influenced many artists including McCartney. McCartney eventually adapted to Little Richard’s primal scream sound (Soto-Morettini). Henry Ford has also admitted “I invented nothing new. I simply assembled the discoveries of other men behind who were centuries of work. Had I worked fifty or ten or even five years before, I would have failed. So it is with every new thing. Progress happens when all the factors that make for it are ready, and then it is
When looking for an artifact I first asked my grandfather. When I asked him I found out a lot about my family history like how my great grandfather was in the Olympics which lead to the fact that when around 1953 the trend was to collect pins and place them on a hat. The artifact I found was pins from a collection of different sports events in the Olympics that mark wins and teams competing in the olympics. Looking and researching these pins I have noticed how valuable they can be. Some history behind these pins is how they all represent some countries and the times they were in the
Fandom, both as a community and a culture is interpretative. The term interpretative community was rooted from a literary theorist named Stanley Fish. He established this notion in his book “Is There a Text in this Class?” (1980), believing that the reader holds a core position both in shaping and producing the meaning of literary works where according to him, reader’s experiences affects their interpretation of a text. In his study, Fish (1980) divided the act of reading texts into two (2) categories in accordance with the reading strategies of the reader enabling him/her to interpret the text and define it. First, the same reader interprets different text differently. Second, different readers may interpret the same text similarly.
