Far North by Will Hobbs Often times, people find themselves in very sticky situations which seem to have no way out. During difficult times, teamwork is an important aspect in overcoming the challenges that life may throw in the way. In Will Hobbs’ Far North, it is clear that the two friends could not have survived the dangerous wilderness of Canada without the help of each other. In the end, they pushed each other to their limits to overcome their greatest challenge: returning home alive. Throughout the book the boys are forced to work together to overcome challenges that seem impossible. The main theme in this book is that anything is possible through teamwork. Teamwork is extremely beneficial when it comes to physical challenges. Sometimes in life, a person may face an obstacle that requires more strength then they have. This is where teamwork comes into play. On page 137, Raymond is talking to his friend and says,“We need to get this raft unstuck and get it back into the water. It’s a race with the ice now. If we work together, then we should be able to make it downstream where some trails might be.” Raymond knew he had severely messed up by getting the raft stuck and he …show more content…

Without the support of others, it is common that people break down and lose all hope. The boys worked together to keep each other motivated and not lose sight of their goal of surviving. In the book, Gabe was freaking out about their situation to Raymond, and Raymond was helping Gabe calm down. “Raymond was listening, listening intently as if he understood every word. I think it helped him somehow to calm himself down.” (87). The presence of another human being usually helps a person keep their sanity and remain stable. Human connection and understanding helps to keep people calm in tough situations. If the boys did not have each other to keep them from losing their heads, their chances of survival would have been slim to
