While Fareed Zakaria was interviewing Bill Maher, a comedian, a television host and someone who dislikes Trump. Maher is on the left side of the Republicans and would disagree with Trump. Also, that Maher would make jokes on what Trump said. Now, as a Trump Supporter, I disagreed with many points that Maher said. The points that I disagreed with the most on where he said that we live in a fact free bubble, that everything goes out the window if people voted for Trump, and won, and that Americans will vote for celebrities and anyone else before an Atheist. The first point I disagreed with was the point of that we, Trump supporters live in a Fact Free Bubble. That we don't know what is happening ing the world. I know about Hurricane Matthew
see that this is true by looking at his speech and at the manner in
Dave thinks he is almost a man because he buys himself a gun and by having this gun he thinks it will gain the other men's respect. He is tired of getting grief from the men he works with. He believes he will be transformed into a real man by having a gun, but he quickly realizes that it is only bringing him problems and more responsibility. Dave sees that he is not ready for adulthood because of the responsibilities and obligations that come with it. He wants the freedom that he is led to believe that adults have. I do not think that his actions are those of an adult because I think that his mind set is childish since he thinks that a gun is going to make him seem more like an adult and not a child anymore. There is a lot more that comes with being an adult than just having a gun. Guns are dangerous and should be used in the right way. I do not agree with his action of shooting Mr. Hawkins' mule and it could have seemed that he was striking against Mr. Hawkins. I think the reason that he thinks that a gun will make him a man is because he feels it is a quick way for him to become powerful and manly. He believes that having a gun in his hand will give him more control over
Nicholas Carr Claimed that the internet affects our information processing. Carr backed up his argument by speaking with a wide array of educated and reputable people like friends, colleagues, a blogger, GMU and a professor making his argument validity greater. Carr admits that he and his friends also; have the same problem by saying that he was appealing to emotions by using Ethos.
“People are going to attack me just for having you on,” Bill Maher told the guest. Okay, then, let’s give the man what he wants.
An Arizona Rep. named Matt Salmon made what seemed like an ordinary visit to a local elementary school to explain to the kids how a bill becomes a law, when a couple of comments got him in some trouble with parents. Salmon made comments about Iran's nuclear deal and young suicide bombers to a bunch of second- and third-grade students at San Tan Charter School. While the comments were cut short by both the principle and a teacher, it didn't change the effect it had one some kids. The principle sent out an email to the forty-five students who attended the session and encouraged upset families to reach out to the office. So far, three families have done just that. To correct his mistake, he not only personally called a few of the upset parents
I’m pretty sure Craig Spencer felt the exact same way when he ate at a public restaurant, rode the subway, and went bowling in Brooklyn and look where that has gotten him. Troops who are returning from West Africa are being quarantined just like the astronauts of Apollo 11 were quarantined and no one thinks or thought any less of them for doing so. I believe that it is more heroic of them to have taken the necessary precautions to protect even more people than they already have rather than to just puff out their chests and say they’re invincible. In an article called “Ebola-Quarantine Objections are Frivolous,” Law Professor Eugene Kontorovich elaborated on the fact that courts have continuously advocated for quarantines for infectious diseases like tuberculosis and smallpox.
Professor George Frisvold develops his argument by illustrating the facts through graphs. His use of statistics supports his point that current agricultural systems are insufficient in conserving water. Because of the current climate change, water conservation has gained importance. Frisvold presents analyses of current strategies and suggests how national level changes in order to provide the change in the government’s involvement in water conservation in agriculture. The intended audience is readers that are interested in the environment, and more specifically interested or involved in the conservation of natural resources. The issue of agriculture’s involvement in the environment has many different effects. In this precis writing process
In my search to find an argument for omnivores, I found, despite typing in the exact opposite, that pro veganism articles outnumbered most them. Nevertheless, I discovered a piece about reverting from veganism on the blog of Aaron Moritz. The author’s reason for his renascent into his former meat-eating ways were primarily for health purposes. Ironically, health was a motive for converting to his vegan lifestyle. Differing is Moritz’s argument for as to why he completely renewed his sentiments on consuming meat.
On June 6th 2015, Lee Siegel wrote an op-ed piece titled "Why I Defaulted on My Student Loans" which should cause one to wonder how the New York Times allowed such an irresponsible article to be published. Siegel encourages impressionable young students to take loans with the intent of defaulting. He gives advice, based off of a "moral" argument, to accumulate large debts and effectively steal from the government in order to pursue your dreams. Since when did pursuing one's dreams validate committing crimes? Siegel attempts to validate his irresponsible behavior through these types of faulty arguments.
With following Krauthammer and his opinion editorials for the past few weeks, there seems to be repetitive writing patterns he enjoys to utilize. In every article of his, there is always a humorous tone present like “he’s the best baseball player on the planet, probably in the entire Milky Way” or “God created baseball as a relief from politics”, and usually it is the main overall tone for the piece. In addition, every single opinion editorial discusses politics with the 2016 presidential election approaching. Krauthammer addresses the significant candidates, like Hillary Clinton or Ted Cruz, and with doing this he typically tries to support the candidates he prefers and disregards the ones he does not like. For example, he says this about
Evaluating arguments for logical consistencies was proven through my oral presentation on El Chapo along with the research paper. Encouraged to analyze the arguments, I was able to pin point the consistencies the media was portraying to the public. I also had the chance to listen and analyze two of my fellow peers’ oral presentation on the current issues regarding the confederate flag and the argument on whether or not to keep it. Evaluating key points on the history of the flag, we were able to evaluate the fallacies behind the flag. Consistencies were identified in El Chapo’s current issue with news channels like CNN, Vice News, and Fox using similar headlines describing his escape. “El Chapo’s Escape”, “mile-long tunnel dug” “escape from
Amidst the political chaos America is currently in, some people may find relief in comedian Bill Maher. At times his political-comedic rhetoric may be hard to swallow for both parties, he remains unapologetic for all that he’s said. During this fantastic interview, Tracy Smith engages well with Maher and even seems a little stunned by some of his responses. Smith began to reminisce the origins of Maher’s career: performing on the late night show with Johnny Carson and his first show ‘’politically incorrect,’’ that premiered in 1993. Maher made controversial statements on his show a week after 9/11 and consequently, ABC canceled the show in may 2002. However, Smith seemed a bit shocked when she proposed the question if he regrets the specific
As you may know, Donald Trump is running for the role of the President of the United States. There is a lot of controversy over the subject, no one seems to approve of Trump. There are many articles I could have read over the topic, but I read an editorial written by Ross Douthat of the New York Times. This is a very recent article, being written on the 29th of August, 2015. Douthat’s article is titled, “Donald Trump, Traitor to His Class”, it is about how non-traditional of a republican that Trump is. In this essay, I will give you a brief history of the author and point out any biases or assumptions made by the author. I will prove to you that his argument is based on no fact and only what could be or could have been.
I enjoyed reading your post; you made such a remarkable comment on the subject. I especially liked the fact that he brought attention to advertisement and drugs. He had such a personality of humor which made the clip interesting. As a matter of fact he was able to keep the audience attention focused upon him in a humor manner. I also have very little knowledge of Bill Maher, but he conducted himself in a professional manner, causing it to very interesting and educating. I think overall his speech was outstanding and everyone respected him. He did show concern for his
You would never believe what happened to Zara. Before College, Zara was always a docile kid. She always did her homework, was in national honor society, went to church every Sunday and would never think of doing anything illegal. As a typical good girl gone bad story goes, she became a bad seed once she came to Rutgers. Going into Rutgers, Zara expected to make friends who were good influences, get all A’s, and join many clubs and organizations. Surprisingly, for Zara, this was not the case. The first night of college, she was introduced to alcohol. Zara thought it would be a one-time thing. Eventually, she became a regular social drinker and had no desire to join clubs. All of Zara’s friends drank every weekend (including Thursdays) and so
