What is the most influential motivator?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us” (Marianne Williamson). Tragedy and love can motivate us to do very crazy things, but the fears we face on a daily basis and our very own personal fears are the most influential motivators. Fear makes us feel uncomfortable, the media uses fear to bring attention to things, and people use fear to influence you to do things.
Fear can make life intolerable, there is a variety of fears one person can have. For instance, fear of being alone, fear of dying, fear of being an disappointment, fear of animals, even fear of life itself and the lists goes

An example of this is, the commercials for medical alerts and house alarm systems, show the scary consequences of not getting or using their services. For example, they’ll have videos of elderly people falling down stairs and people robbing houses, while their children are at home. Also, commercials will say things like “Feel safe and secure with Medical Alert.” (Medical Alert Commercial). In the short story, “A Sound of Thunder” (Ray Bradbury), there is a man behind a desk stating that, “If you disobey instructions, there’s a stiff penalty of another ten thousand dollars, plus possible government action, on your return” (Bradbury 1). This demonstrates how ads and people can try to change your opinion on something. The man behind the desk, was placing fear in the main character; Eckel to encourage him to follow all the rules. Another example is when people “clickbait” things in the media, which means to say something you know will attract an audience, but that isn’t actually the point you’re trying to get across. Most Youtubers use clickbaiting on their story times to get more views, by titling something “I almost died!!”, when sometimes in reality there video isn’t remotely close to the title. It places fear in their audience to be concerned, so they end up watching the video as a chain reaction to …show more content…
Your parents use tactics, for example, telling you to do chores or your phone will be taken. Parents are very persuasive and very talented as using fear, for instance you know that “look”, that every mother gives when their child? Well, that is a way of fear encouraging you to stop or do something, because your mom is the one that carried you for 9 months, it gives her authority and places fear in you, so you’ll ultimately do what you’re told. Employers and bosses also use fear to influence you to do what they instructed you to do. For example, they’ll threaten to fire you. After these tactics are used fear can control you to make you do what your first instinct tells
Most people simply think of fear as what people are afraid of. However, it is so much more than than. Have you ever been afraid of something? This was likely shaped by past experiences.
Fear is a common human emotion, but the way some people react is different than others. Although, it is harder on some humans unlike other people. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said,” Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.” I think that means that fear harms more people than anything else does in the whole world. Also that people can scare themselves way easier than normal and it’s not healthy.
Fear is a feeling we’ve all felt before and it’s completely humane to feel that way from time to time. Mainly, people have great fears that interfere with their daily life and it becomes a problem. The issue with fears is
Fear is one of the most basic and vital aspects of human behavior. To our ancestors, it was often the only thing that kept them alive, but today, with less and less things in the natural world people have to be afraid of, it usually just keeps them from working towards their goals. Fear can prevent one from pursuing their dream in that it forces us to be afraid of the future and can act as a catalyst for people giving up.
Everybody has a different perspective on fear and everybody is affected differently. The Mental Health Foundation stated that, “Fear can last for a short time and then pass but it can also last much longer and stay with us. In some cases it can take over our lives, affecting appetite, sleep, and concentration for long periods of time. Fear stops us from travelling, going to work or school, or even leaving the house.” This quote shows that fear does not affect people as much as it does to others. Although, fear can affect people for a long time which can cause them to stay isolated from others. There are many types of fears and some examples of fears include: the fear of the number 13, the fear of spiders, the fear of heights, and many others. There are hundreds of fears and many people have these fears and everybody is affected differently.
We humans especially, fear many different things: death, disease, old age, commitment, noises in the night, pain, responsibility, work, being too fat or too thin, or any number of other things. Some of our fears are reasonable and rationale, like the fear for our safety so we lock our doors at night, never walk alone on dark streets, and
Fear is a powerful human emotion. It can make you do things you wouldn’t normally do, like risk taking and bad choices. Fear can spike your adrenaline. For example if someone was to lift a car off a run over child, that would be caused by adrenaline, which is caused by fear. According to several studies done by physicians
What is fear? Fear is that pit in the back of your stomach, your anticipation to do something, overwhelming yourself for no reason or a nightmare you might have. Most of the time people blame their fear on other people. This is inaccurate; a person only controls there own fears. A person's brain can
Fear can motivate you to do something or stop you. One way is when doing something you know someone will do it. Why do people treat people different based off your tragedy Based off the movie Cool Hand Luke’s mom died, his partners gave him respect by leaving the room and the one of boss workers locked Luke in the box to grieve. People just don’t know how to react But we shouldn’t let fear stop us. Like going back to Antigone when Ismene burried her family relative she really didnt know what to do and she just did what was suppose to be done, what her mind told her to.
Fear can change people in many ways. Three of them are by making people afraid of change, by making them avoid possible death, and also by staying away from what they fear.
We are forced to do what we don’t want to or maybe it is something we want to do. These things only happen because of fear. Fear can either be a dangerous or precious emotion. Fear is, for sure, an emotion that we can not live without. Without fear, we would be mindless machines without a care in the world. Although our other emotions would be heightened, life would not be the same without fear itself. Fear changes what we actually see and feel, it makes us rethink every single thought and decision we come across, and it propels our minds to blame others for something that we originally did. Fear comes into play during many occasions: when you are communicating, when you are in a certain situation, and also during our daily lives.
One thing I learned about fear is that it can basically act for us. With fear humans can make critical decisions that they wouldn’t dare make without fear edging them on. A story that particularly shocked me was the story of a young woman named Kelly. She followed her
Another cause for people having fear is the past experiences they have had. Generally, if something bad has happened to somebody, they try to forget about it and/or they try to make sure it never happens again. However, in doing so, they still have a subconscious fear that something similar to the terrible event they’ve experienced may somehow manage to happen again, especially if there are a few similarities between the past event and the current situation. For example, if a man had surgery for his heart to perform better and he nearly died, he may be very reluctant to ever have surgery to his heart or any other body part(s) again.
Fear is a feeling created in a response to a perceived danger. Fear can produce pleasure, heighten awareness, be in the form of phobia, a fear of the unknown and an instinctual response to danger.
Fear is the number one obstacle everyone must overcome at some point in their life. When the word fear is brought up I like to think of past situations that I experienced. There are many different methods used to conquer and learn from our fears such and exposure therapy, having a growth mindset, and thinking positive. For example, when I was younger fear was my worst enemy, School was the main reason that caused my fear. My fear of failure was my biggest obstacle growing up so I used that as a method to learn from my fears.
