Film Analysis: Life is Beautiful How does Benigni convey the idea of creativity using coincidence in his film Life is Beautiful? Life is Beautiful was a film directed by Roberto Benigni that portrayed the journey of a Jewish waiter named Guido who, with his family, suffered through WW2 and its effects on Jews. The film first highlights how he meets his future wife Dora, and how the family, including their son Giosue, survived through the war. The film highlights the manner in which they were treated by the Germans and how Guido found his way around situations. He did this both by using coincidence in his favour and by using past events to creatively avoid sticky situations. The way that benigni conveyed this was quite remarkable. Benigni conveyed the idea of creativity using coincidence by employing cinematic techniques such as using repetition, fast cutting and the focus on relevant scenes and objects. Benigni was known for orchestrating great pieces of film that showed the reality of things, but with an element of humour. One way of showcasing this humour was by using coincidence as a planned convergence of events. An example of this is when Guido takes Dora home after the night at the cinema. Guido wanted to impress her and he did all he could do to change Dora’s view of him. Dora at one point said that the only way to accomplish this was by using the “key to her heart”. And she also mentioned that “heaven knew” where the key was. And as she said this, the camera

The vision Christopher Nolan had for The Prestige (2006) was to add to the outbreak of street magician film, whilst playing a large dramatic subplot equal in grandeur to the magical performances within the film. In the final sequence of the film, I will analyse how the cinematography and sound resolves the plot so that it summarises the themes present in the film, whilst also invoking a response from the audience. Nolan predominantly uses close up shots, non-diegetic sound (music) and dialogue collaboratively to convey the dramatic, personal subplot of the characters and their relationships, whilst appealing to the audience bringing forth an emotional response from the audience. The heavy, slow, dramatic atmosphere of the ending sequence uses various techniques to summarise and uncover the underlying mysteries of the events throughout the film and consolidate themes introduced during the exposition.
Overall, I believe “Loving” was a fantastic movie. I enjoyed watching it, and it was fascinating throughout. I was very interested to learn the story behind Richard and Mildred Loving and the pivotal struggle they had to face in their lives.
?Life Is Beautiful? shows one family?s experience in the concentration camp. Benigni makes the audience fall in love with the main character in the beginning by letting them see the way his life was and how truly happy he was. He shows him falling in love with a Christian woman and having an upbeat, curious little boy. By doing this, the audience experiences the sadness that the characters felt in the movie when they are separated. The audience feels sad when his Christian wife is separated from her family even though she wasn?t supposed to be at the camp in the first place. They also feel fear when his son has to hide every day from the Jews so that he won?t be taken to the furnace. At the end of the movie, when
Life can be very beautiful. In contrast, life for many people during World War 2 was not so beautiful. During this time, the world was at war. Gladly, during all the madness, in 1945 innocent people broke free, and concentration camps were liberated. The film Life is Beautiful, Guido demonstrated the three qualities; Inherent thoughtfulness and emotionality, expressive coherence, and wholeness and unity.
Benigni portrays the theme of love through hard times in the film Life is beautiful by using a range of cinematic techniques such as lighting, non-diegetic music and camera shots.
Paradise Now is a 2-hour film released in 2005, it depicts a perspective alternative in a highly controversial topic of suicide bombers or also known as a ‘martyr’. The movie takes place in Palestine during the Israeli occupation and illustrates the mundane life and frustration felt by the main characters Said and Khaled due to the oppression experienced during the conflict. A key feature that is also portrayed is the reasoning, and almost justification of an attack on that level. However, the perpatrators can be seen showing feelings of hesitance and even inquisitiveness in relation to the afterlife that they are promised and whether violent resistance is the last option. This paper, will discuss how “Paradise Now” provoked my views and
After enduring a string of abusive relationships, Jean arrives unannounced at her estranged father-in-law 's ranch in Wyoming, with her daughter Griff. Griff 's father and Jean 's late husband died years ago in a fatal car crash while Jean was behind the wheel. Her father-in-law, Einar, has never gotten over it and still blames Jean for his son 's death. Einar lives on the ranch with his business partner, Mitch, who was mauled by a bear one night when Einar was drunk. This film reflects on forgiveness and rebirth, as family members work through their problems related to various communication and relationship theories. The main characters in the film are interdependent with each other, often times seen interfering with one another in terms of conflict resolution. This paper will analyze how the main characters cooperate to keep the conflict in motion throughout the film An Unfinished Life through the use of systematic collection of information about the dynamics of conflict resolution (Conflict Assessment, n.d.).
Bravery is likely the most conspicuous theme in Life is Beautiful. It is exhibited throughout the whole film by the cinematography directed by Roberto Benigni. Cinematography includes the different angles, camera movement and editing. Camera angles can affect the audience in many ways. The most common camera angle used in this film is the wide shot - as it shows the characters completely - not only the main character but all the characters in the foreground and background. To portray the theme of the importance of bravery, Benigni uses a mid shot to grasp the attention of the audience which focuses in on Guido and a German Nazi Officer. In this scene, Guido offers to translate the rules of the concentration camp as he claims to speak German, however Guido only wishes to translate the rules for his son - making the rules seem like the rules of

When the subject of Life Is Beautiful (La vita è bella) became public knowledge, there was apprehension because of Roberto Benigni 's reputation as a comedian that he might not approach the subject of the Shoah with appropriate sobriety and respect. The film adopted a visual and thematic strategy contrary to the norm in
Benigni takes advantage of the lighting in the scene to help support the theme of love in the film. One example of how the lighting was used to express Dora’s love for Guido was when the two of them were in the hotel while Dora was with Rodolfo. As her family was speaking Dora was in darker lighting which showed that she was not happy and did not want to be there, but once she realised that Guido was there the lighting on her became brighter, expressing how happy she is to know that he was with her.

In Michael Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), the connections between people and memories become the focal point of a very unique romance. Through the use of new technology, the possibility of erasing memories makes painful relationships disappear like they never happened. The tale of Joel and Clementine allows the audience to rethink and question the process they undergo as beneficial or destructive. Though the process might be helpful in eliminating the pain caused from another person, four key scenes show how the lessons learned through relationship experiences are important.
