Finding Myself People think it’s so easy to change. They think it’s so easy, but it isn’t. Sure, things don’t always stay the same. You get a new couch, boys come and go, you gain a new scar, discover a new song, or you find a new passion. But in the end you’re still just you. Always spinning and turning in awkward beautiful shapes like a ballerina on a floor, spinning and spinning only to come back to the same position. A conflict I’ve always had to face a lot in my life is myself. I’ve always had a problem with accepting myself for who I am, what I’ve done, and what I can become. Self-esteem was my greatest issue. From the time I was in fourth grade I didn’t fit in. I probably didn’t fit in before that either but I noticed myself …show more content…
It was a long hard process and it sent me home some days with the end result of an anxiety attack. Those were never fun. Sometimes I wanted to just quit my job and go back to my comfortable shell where I didn’t have to see people and talk to them. But I couldn’t do that. Not when I knew so many people counted on me out there to do a job that I signed up for. So I pushed on. I smiled at everyone I saw. I went up to people and started a conversation and actually made friends. I was still cautious but I eventually got out of that and now I feel as if I can go up to people and talk to them without a care in the world about anything. I went places with people, hung out with friends, and finally felt better about myself; I was happy. It took a little over three months to get myself to where I dreamed of being and to where I liked myself. So I believe that, getting that job has changed me a lot and was the best decision I’ve ever made. I had the best summer in my entire life and I couldn’t be more proud of myself for facing my problems head on instead of dwelling on my inner demons and letting them win. It changed me for the better and I never feel melancholy anymore. Self-esteem is a hard thing to conquer, especially when you’ve been let down a lot. All you have to do is smile and say to yourself, “I know this, I can do this, I can figure this out!” And you’ll soon be the best you can be. I
Self esteem is how an individual evaluates their worth as a person. It is not a person’s talents or abilities or how they are seen by others It is seen as the feeling of not being good enough. However, that does not mean people with high self esteem view themselves as
I wanted to do better, until I get the most unexpected news ever. It was happening again, but this time wasn't just another house down the road, it was back to Maine. Even though I grew up here I honestly didn't want to come back. I felt I was doing great but really I was comfortable. I complained but in the end I had to face it. This unexpected move took two weeks for us to leave and get to Maine. We stayed with my aunt for about six months, then moved right back to the same old house in Alfred. I'm glad to be back, but I wonder what it would be like if I stayed but what matters it what happened and what it did. I thought through those three years that my life was ruined and my future was ruined, but in a way, it's helped. I hate to admit it, but it showed, because I now have more confidence and passion than ever.
I feel this was a good experience, as it has enabled me to develop and become more independent to further increase my skills, as being out of my comfort zone allows me to explore new depths, which allows me to push past my boundaries in the future, and embrace new changes and challenges.
Everything started to look up as I changed, tweaked and learned more. I became friends with so many great people as they helped me beyond measures to adjust to such a big change. On another note, my family began to get in a routine as my dad also gained a better paying job in Danville, as well as both of my parents becoming less stressed out. Eventually, everything began to flow smoothly
It’s the realization that things can stay the same that brings the sense of transformation, even if nothing has
Nothing is more important in life than having positive self-esteem and a positive outlook on life. With positive self-esteem, a person can accomplish just about anything they put their mind to. Developing self-esteem starts from the day a baby is born and continues throughout their life, but unfortunately, this development is not always complete for some by the time they are adults. If we have low confidence in ourselves and our ability to succeed, it’s time to take another look at how we can build confidence. First of all, it’s important to recognize and believe that positive
To better establish your self-worth, focus on the positives. Consider keeping a journal and writing down all the things you’ve done right and all the greatness you have to offer. This can help improve your confidence and dispel feelings of social rejection.
Life is a chain of changes that puts people in different situations and every change come with its struggles and we have to move along with the change.People might take the changes in different ways and everyone has their own story that makes them unique from other people and changes make people live through same story again and again or never.Going through changes and adapting to them is the real challenge that you have to go through and how you handle it gives you the identity but it is not an easy path to take for everyone some give up;some don’t even start to get on the path to achieve what they want in their life.
Sometimes you have to take changes, jump into your life without looking back, and sometimes without Looking down or forward.
During my time off I realized who I am and who I want to be for
You and only you are responsible for your fate. Life is no fun if you spend it hating yourself; this stifles any progress you hope to make. Once your confidence is up, you will stop making the terrible mistake of comparing yourself to others. You will already be comfortable and happy with who you are.
Even though I knew it was a big change in careers. I also knew it would make me happy to be able to one day open-up a business that can help employ people with no jobs and be able to give back to the community, while doing something I enjoyed. One thing I also took from that experience is to always be open minded about new experiences. I judged the job prior to doing it and ended up loving it and even currently working in the field until I obtain my
Change is complex. Change requires sacrifice in order to gain; things we are so connected to have to be given up, but ultimately it is a choice to sacrifice those things. Andy Law, a distinguished author, portrays this concept perfectly in his book Creative Company. He states, "Unless you are prepared to give up something valuable you will never be able to truly change at all, because you 'll be forever in the control of things you can 't give up." Human nature tends to lead people to hold on to what they are familiar with--things that help comfort them in unfamiliar circumstances. When holding on to one 's past so tightly, it is hard for them to move forward. Jumpha Lahiri, author of Interpreter of Maladies, writes stories about people

These are some experiences that have shaped my self-esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let these experiences either motivate you or de-motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de-motivate until I came to the realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve.
