Michele has over 26 years of experience playing the game of tennis, 5 of those years coaching all ages and levels in tennis, basketball and soccer.
Michele was born in Washington, DC and raised in Burtonsville, MD. At the age of seven, her love for tennis developed after participating in a tennis camp during the summer. Along with her twin sister Renee’, they continued attending camps and receiving lessons in Hilton Head, SC during summer vacation. Upon entering high school, Michele became a Panther for Paint Branch High School, where she was a star tennis player. She recently received her certification as a 10 and under coach through the United States Tennis Association. Michele continues to participate in leagues and tournaments in the Washington, DC area and win. She enjoys teaching sports because she is afforded the opportunity to not only help others reach their goals through athletic player development, but to continuously give back to her community. She feels that tennis is a great outlet to not only maintain physical fitness, but to meet people and build lasting friendships.
Off the court, Michele partnered with her twin to publish their first children’s book, “Have you ever!” She also manages and coordinates events with her business partner, Yolanda Mike of Bcreative Events, LLC in Germantown, Maryland.

Once they both accomplished their dreams, things didn’t stop there. They both had gotten many awards as an effect of that. Althea Gibson had won lots of tennis games and championships, and got recognized a lot for that, while Barbara Jordan had gotten a lot of degrees. Dinahlee Martinez has a loving personality. She puts others before herself and makes sure everyone around her is well. She is funny, outgoing and can be sensitive at times. For the amount of time we have live with her, we seen how a good of a mother she is. She never gives up on us. She continues to push us in every way. She currently lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey. When she is hungry and wants food from the cafeteria in the student union building, she gets oreo ice-cream and a cheese burger, sometimes even two cheeseburgers. Her mother, Noelia, makes good empanadas and she loves them as well.
Ms. Smith reported she grew up in Colorado Springs and was primarily raised by her mother. At age 7, I met this man, Dr. Robert Walter Johnson Jr., who started teaching me how to play tennis. He worked hard, and he got me to excel (Arthur Biography ¶5). By age 16, I appeared at the U.S. National Championships. Then eventually, I won a tennis scholarship to UCLA (Ashe Britannica ¶2) and won the NCAA doubles and singles title (Arthur Notable ¶1). In time I also got to play on a winning U.S. Davis Cup team (Evert ¶1), be the first African-American to win both the U.S. Open and Wimbledon, and be the first African-American to be ranked Number one in the world (Arthur Biography ¶1-2).
From a very young age, I have loved being involved in sport and fitness. My earliest memories all involve me running around with a ball or a bat of some kind either in my hand or at my feet. My love for physical activity has remained and since then, I have becoming increasingly interested in coaching and the more theoretical side of sport. I asked Emma Nuzzi what she thought her biggest accomplishment was, she replied with “I would say becoming a very good tennis player.” Emma Nuzzi started playing tennis at age twelve, which she thinks was a late age. When Emma was in the seventh grade she told her gym teacher that she wanted to play tennis she then replied to Nuzzi with “Maybe.”, this did not encourage Emma at the time because her gym teacher was the varsity tennis coach. Emma did not let this get to her too much because she practiced and became the player that she is today.
As a Professional Tennis Coach I want my students to be the best they can be in tennis, i use that mentality to try their hardest in everything they do. I also want to create future tennis pro’s, by training them everyday they can develop their game to get at least a college scholarship.
The coach tirelessly pursues personal education, formally and informally, both in the performance related sciences and in liberal arts. He sees the journey to coaching excellence as a never ending story; seen not only in terms of a chosen sport and coaching theory and practice, but in understanding how to successfully live a balanced and full life, while facing tougher and tougher challenges in the chosen field of endeavour.
Purpose Statement: The purpose of my speech is to inform my audience about the history of tennis and about tennis itself.
