As a kid, I loved arguing and debating; whenever I went to summer camp, I played a game called 'Fish Bowl'. We had to debate on any given topic. My points of argument were unrelenting, and I became filled with joy as the game went on. My love developed into a passion, and years later, I aimed to attend law school. My goal is to one-day work in family law. Becoming a part of the College of Arts and Sciences will push me as I strive to reach this goal. I would major in PPE. This would teach me how to apply the skills I learn in this program to my field of work. With my passion for the things I love, I know I will be able to achieve this goal along with the guidance of some of the top professors. I could also further my studies by minoring in one of the PPE fields. I would be working with Dr.Sen who is there to help those with anything PPE related. …show more content…
The rewarding feeling of helping others is something I look forward to. If accepted into Civic House, I would be fulfilling this feeling. I truly believe a small group of people can change the world. Working alongside a diverse, close group of people satisfies that rewarding feeling. I know we would be able to bring about change in the community if a part of this life changing experience. Every year I volunteer at the clothes closet in my city. We give school uniforms to those in need of them. It feels good being able to help others and put their needs first. This keeps me grateful and humble for the things I
I believe in contributing to the community. I am a member of the National Honor Society and we do volunteer work for the school and through the community. It seems every other week there is an opportunity to volunteer in which I am eager to take part. In addition, as a Third Party Representative for a civics class called Project 18, I spend at least two hours a week emailing and calling potential guest speakers and creating PowerPoint slideshows that I will present. .

Many people find hobbies that they enjoy; some people find hobbies that they love and make them lose track of time. What I have come to realize is that when you truly have a passion for something, whether it be good or bad, you tend to put it ahead of other things in life. You become so skilled in this one area because it is something you truly enjoy doing. But you can take what you have learned from this and apply it to the real world. What drives me is bass fishing, to the average person this just sounds like a lazy man's weekend activity. When I was young there wasn't much to it just put bait on a hook and wait but the possibility of potentially catching a giant has kept me hooked. As I have grown older I've learned how complicated what seems to be simple task
It’s a beautiful day at the beach, the sun is shining down on you as you float and drift on top of the waves. As you lay there without a care in the world, you are suddenly interrupted by a massive swarm of jellyfish; also known as a bloom. Not only does this send you into sudden terror, it also causes a much bigger threat to the ecosystem below you. The excessive growth of jellyfish swarm drastically lowers the population of fish eggs in the ecosystem. Because of this, fishermen lose millions of dollars. People in local communities are figuring out ways to solve this mass production.

The California State Fish: the magnificent golden trout. It flawlessly glides through the water, its golden underbelly and blue-green back cloaking its body, making it one with the water. Appointed in 1947, the golden trout, or Oncorhynchus Mykiss Agua Bonita, are native to California, having populated only a handful of icy streams in the Sierra. However, this concoction of color is threatened, and every year, their population lessens.
At New Melones Reservoir, despite the continuing snow melt, the water level dropped another foot last week. The water clarity is good and the temperature is slowly coming up, now averaging 76 to 81-degrees. Trout are showing signs of schooling over deep water and feeding on shad minnows. Trollers have been finding trout at 40 to 60 feet with Speedy Shiners, Needlefish, and ExCel lures. Night fishermen have been doing well by anchoring over fairly deep water and lowering their light to about 20 feet. This attracts plankton, which in turn, attracts shad, which will attract larger fish. Live minnows and nightcrawlers are choice baits. The kokanee numbers may be down, but the quality is good with some going 15 to 18 inches. Bladed lures may work well in deeper water as they create vibration which will attract fish. Scented corn on each hook is important. Big trout winner at Glory Hole Sports was, again, Bob James, of Murphys, with a 2-pound rainbow caught at 55 feet in the main lake. Big catfish winner was John Tennant, of Twain Harte, with an 11-pound, 15-ounce fish caught with sardine bait in the main lake. Bass fishing is good for those who specialize in that type of fishing. Hayden Lee, of Angels Camp, recently caught a 10 pound Largemouth Bass on a topwater lure and he had no net in the boat. He and a friend were able to boat the fish for photos before release.
Bass fishing can easily be compared to art and ballet because of poise, color, and technique.

The alligator, even more than the alligator gar, represents the ultimate of “big game” bowfishing within the confines of the United States. These large, sinister-looking reptiles look exactly like what they are – the ancient, unchanged survivors of a world millions of years dead, still gliding through the muddy waters of the American South after countless other species have perished. Quick-moving when necessary, dangerously aggressive on occasion – especially when provoked – heavily armored with thick, knobby scales, and instantly recognizable, alligators are rapidly becoming a favorite target of sport bowfishermen, who appreciate their unique challenge.
Albert Fish was born, as Hamilton Fish in Washington, D.C. Fish was the youngest of his three siblings. Fish told everyone to call him Albert after a dead sibling and to escape his nickname “ham and eggs” (Murderpedia, n.d.). Many people in his family suffered from mental illnesses, one suffered from religious mania (Murderpedia, n.d.). Albert’s Father Randal Fish was a riverboat captain but then by 1870 he was a fertilizer manufacturer. He then dies of a heart attack at the Sixth Street Station of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1875 in Washington, D.C (Murderpedia, n.d.). After Randal’s death, Albert’s mother put him into an orphanage, where he was frequently whipped and beaten. This is where he discovered he enjoyed physical pain, the beatings would arouse him, and the other orphans would tease him. In 1879, his mother had a government job and took him out of the orphanage.
As the sun starts to go down an angler stands waist deep in the murky green waters of the Mississippi River. He anxiously awaits for the right moment to grasp onto his next big catch. All of the sudden, he reaches into the water and he feels his whole arm being swallowed by a massive fish eating machine. The angler struggles as the fish fights back and wants to let go but not on his watch. He lifts his arm up in the air and there it is, a massive 60 pound beast clamping down on his arm. This hand fishing method is better known as noodling. It is a common fishing practice used to catch flathead catfish in southern states such as Alabama and Mississippi. The fish eating machine of the North American freshwaters is known for devouring all fish it encounters to the point of
The springlike weather has brought bass into shallower water in some foothill lakes, perhaps getting ready for the pre-spawn. At Lake Camanche, near Ione, a recent "lunker" catch was made by James Vella, of Oakdale, who boated a 15.75 pound largemouth bass which measured 28-inches, with a girth of 23.5 inches. The big fish was caught on 6 pound test line and was released.
With all the deadly and dangerous things how do helpless plants and animals like a beaver survive? Animals use the ecosystem, which is, “an area where plants, animals, and other nonliving things live and
