Five Themes Of Geography

Los Angeles is the biggest city in the southwestern part of the state of California. Every city has the five themes of geography, which are location, place, human environment interaction, region and movement. Just like every other city, Los Angeles has them too! The location of Los Angeles is 34.05 latitude and -118.24 longitude.

The Five Themes of Geography are: Location – Absolute points on a map or grid or Relative to where something may be; Place – The physical and/or human characteristics of a locations; Human/Environment Interactions – How humans have impacted the landscape or environment; Relationship between places Movement – How humans interact on the earth (i.e. how they communicate over distance (short or long)) and Regions – a unit of space that has commonalities defined by physical, human and environmental geography. The Explorers of the New World may have not known what the Five Themes of Geography were but they quickly learned. Of the five themes the ones that they all took advantage of was the physical Location and Place as they learned to navigate

Egypt is a land of rich culture, society, religion, customs, and prosperity. Tourists flock over in floods to marvel at the wonders of Egypt: the pyramids, the temples, the Sphinx, and the fortresses. But if the Egyptians hadn’t been lucky to stumble upon the land of Egypt, there would not be much left to see. Egypt’s unique geography separates it from other lands. Each of the five themes of geography, which are location, region, place, interaction, and movement, are distinctly different from the others and have shaped Egypt’s environment throughout the ages.

My name is Elijah Holdeman I was born in Wailuku, (Maui) Hawaii. Today I would like to visit the five themes of geography in Wailuku. We will look at the location, the place, the region, the human/environment interactions, and the movement.

In this essay I will be outlining the five themes of geography for my assigned country which is France. The first one of the five themes that I am going to cover is the location. The absolute location of the capital which is Paris it is forty degrees north and two degrees east. However the relative location of France would be described as north of the Mediterranean Sea and south of the United Kingdom, and east of Spain and last but not least west of Germany. It is located in a very wet spot. With many mountains surrounding it and man mountains located inside it. It is very old (the oldest woman lives in France) and has many castles about 40,000 castles to be exact. Although the official name of France is French republic.

Mapping is not just about knowing the latitude and longitude of a specific place, but it can help us to learn how we can improve the world around

Physical maps show governmental boundaries, but also show the physical features, terrain and landforms, such as mountains, deserts, lakes, rivers, and forests. The map is shaded according to the landforms and type of terrain.

Seventeenth century maps may seem to be simple drawing but they had a big impact on explorers and traders of the time. The expansion of trade and colonization of the New World brought the need of accurate maps to help empires control as much as the world as possible. During the Age of Exploration these maps were important to explorers trader ships to navigate the seas to the new world and its colonies (Dempsey, Caitlin)

Geographers use something called the five themes of geography, this idea helps them fully understand a particular area. The first theme is location and the second and third is physical characteristics and the interaction of the environment. The movement of people, goods, and ideas is the fourth. The final one is the regions that makeup of an area. For the sake of the essay, I will be studying my grandmas and grandpas house by using the five themes.
