I interviewed Steven ___ the case manager of the food bank. His job involves helping stocking the shelves, help preparing the bags of food that clients get, and he enters the clients who the food bank has helped into computers. This is done so they cannot get more food then allowed and to keep track of how many people the food bank is helping. When asked about if the food bank provides the same services as advertised on its mission statement. He responded " we provide the exact services we say. We open and close at the same times just like the website says. Also, the people get food that will help them last through a week or too." He also stated that the services are very assessable because it doesn't take long to sign in and since it is

During my summer breaks I volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank. I do specific shifts such as labeling meat products and packaging them or storing food boxes with non perishables (food cans, cereal boxes) and boxing them for one family. I am a current member of Key Club, it also partnered with Second Harvest. Every Thursdays, I help out in Key Club by cleaning the campus and recycling to make the school more environmentally friendly. Outside of school, I attend Aktion Club and monthly car washes to help fundraise for DCON and grow relationships with people in our community that are disabled. There were occurrences where I had to take a role in setting up events like in the Diabetes and Breast Cancer Walk, I was responsible making every
Almost twenty percent of Americans are receiving government money(Welfare Statistics)(Population). That statistic may sound bad already but to put that into perspective that means one in every five people are obtaining some form of financial help from the government(Morin). Too many people in our society rely upon government money because most government benefits are better than the ones they would receive from working. Financial aid, including welfare, unemployment, and food stamps, should be harder to apply for and obtain.
I had various choices to put to a charity of my choice and i have so many choices because of this new thing called the progressive era there are so many new social reforms it’s amazing it's like an amazing social justice fight , I don’t know how you got all this money i remember you being poor but whatever, anyways I chose a food safety charity for my 600,000 dollar donation, for my 300,000 dollar donation i chose a child labor charity, lastly I chose deforestation for my 100,000 dollar donation.
The food stamp entitlement program is the largest entitlement program in the United States with nearly 43 million people using it (Pflaum). “The Food Stamp Program is an integral component of the social safety net in the United States” (Gunderson). It allows people living in poverty to lead somewhat normal lives when it comes to food and daily meals. All 43 million people have passed the three required tests to qualify for the program. The three tests being the gross income test, the net income test, and the assets test. All of these tests combined determine if that single person or family can receive the card to purchase food (Gunderson). If a single person passes all three tests, the Colorado state average amount of money given is $15,444.
We the United States Department of Agriculture have seen that the so called Food Stamps program, also known as SNAP is being abused by irresponsible adults that use the money provided by the government to buy junk food. Not only are the people of the United States buying none-nutritional food, but they are being misinformed on how to use this government help properly. We as the leaders of the United States must put a stop to this growing problem that is filling the American homes of this nation.

want them to take classes they enjoy, which also helps keep these struggling students in school. It is really a catch 22 for a lot of these kids.” She allowed that 5th period was making a difference and teachers have been really helpful during this time. She also said that we have so many students with IEP’s that “it is overwhelming for both the EC staff and the teachers.” In looking over the SIP there are no goals that specifically address increasing these scores for EC students.
Coming into my second year of high school I was so tired the first day of school not wanting to get up just wanting to sleep forever and not having to worry about school. Unfortunately living in a Mexican household that was not an option. So forcing myself out of bed and heading to school I could say I was productive over the summer. When Mr. Jarashow asked me what I had done over my summer I told him I finished all my community services hours. This helped me grow as a global citizen by taking action because I devoted my time to helping out at my local food bank (valley food bank) by helping hand out food to those who needed it, during my time at the food bank I meet a lot of new people. They shared their reason of being there and some valuable

Describe the program’s Theory of Change: The Salvation Army food pantry believes that though their programs that their clients would eventually in the long run become educated on resources and knowledge that would help them overcome poverty. The food pantry provides monthly food services and other resources for clients. From those their hope is to provide low income families, individuals with one hot meals for families of 4-5 people a month. They also hope to offer other recourses that could be hindering families from saving enough money to buy groceries every month. Their end goal is to improve food insecurity in the community.
Bean I should be aware of the issues of conflict of interest. I need to make sure that our law firm has never represented Ms. Bean’s spouse. If this is the case at all I will need to inform her that we are unable to represent her. If I know Ms. Bean personally at all this would potentially cause a conflict of interest. Especially if I personally know her spouse as well. By carrying on this interview it will give me a great deal of insight into hew case and if any type of conflict of interest may occur I need to be very honest with Ms. Bean, as our potential client, because it could cause a change in the outcome of the case all together if she chooses to have us represent her (ABA, Rule 1.7). Of course I need to keep in mind the ethical rule of confidentiality. Whatever Ms. Bean shares with me is confidential, so it is only to stay between the firm and herself and she should be comfortable in knowing she can tell us anything and it will never leave the law firm (ABA, Rule
On August 4, 2015, Vivian Cu and I chose to volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank located on 700 Edwards Ave. in New Orleans. Our Tuesday morning of service started at 9AM and ended around 11:30AM. In preparation for my first time at Second Harvest, I wore comfortable clothes that were easy to move around in and that were possible to get dirty in. The man in charge of all volunteer services, Vince, quickly gave me my duty for the day. There is a huge case of canned goods and my job was to put as many canned goods as possible on a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt would carry these cans to many aisles where other volunteers would put them into smaller boxes that had to weigh from fifteen to thirty pounds. After packaging these boxes, Second
