We humans need food in order to survive. You believed your food choices are healthy and are average sized, but is it really? Some of my food choices weren’t as healthy as I thought they would be. Proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy is healthy, it’s just how much you serve yourself that people have to be cautious about. In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, consider eating the five nutritious food groups and choosing the right servings for yourself. The protein group is the group that includes meat, beans, nuts, egg whites, tofu, seafood, and poultry. Some people believe that meat can cause cancer ("Protein"). People believe this because what it is in meat. This is gibberish though some of it is true because the …show more content…
These two ways will give you a healthier life by just these little things. The nutrients inside the proteins we eat are sodium, saturated fat, and fiber. The servings of protein should be taking ¼ of my plate a day ("Healthy Eating Plate" ). One fourth of my plate would be 5 ounces of protein ("All about the Protein Foods Group"). I will not be changing my eating habits because my plate is always having either tofu, beans, nuts, a veggie burger, and egg whites. I am not a carnivore, I am a vegetarian and I am required to have amino acids and I do, with help from the egg whites. I’m always eating enough protein because protein is my most important food group on my plate since I can’t get it as easily as others. A problem with how I eat is eating nuts, I can’t eat too little or too much, because I won’t get enough protein or I’ll get too much calories. Nuts and seeds are very high in calories also very high in sodium because of the salt in them, but I could fix this problem by taking unsalted nuts and seeds and eat very small portions ("Nutrients and Health Benefits"). Next, kiwis, oranges, bananas, apples, and pears are known as fruits that we eat from the food group. Fruit contains sodium, potassium, vitamin C, and fiber. A misconception that people have about fruit is that all fruits have dirt and surface microorganisms ("Tips to Eat Fruits"). This is a believed, but an amiss idea because

Good nutrition is a critical part of preventing obesity and chronic disease. What people eat is one of the most important determinants of whether they are overweight or obese.
A healthy meal is more than just calorie intake, there is also looking at the correct servings of proteins, vegetables, fruits, and grains. The nutrients and vitamins these foods provide are vital for a learning mind and growing body. Without a correct diet, which is what is happening today, obesity becomes a problem. Although I’ve never thought about foods being “nutritious,” rather than “healthy,” I agree with Michael Ruhlman, the author of “Why no food, not even kale, is ‘healthy’” and take the stance that our foods are not healthy, but we will be healthy if we eat nutritious foods. American’s today often misunderstand the difference because of the wording on foods and the way the media portrays foods through diet fads and magazine articles. I think often the connotation of certain foods confuses us and foods that are often rich and nutrient dense, are considered fatty or “unhealthy” because they are “too high” or have more nutrients than another food. We have been taught to look at foods that have less calories and often think that foods that are lower
All human beings require certain essential nutrients in order to survive. The concept of a healthy, balanced diet is to eat a wide variety of foods because all foods contain different nutrients therefore the wider the variety eaten, the more nutrients provided.
A healthy diet is the result of calories that come from fresh fruits & vegetables, whole grains, low fat dairy
Healthy eating is described as regularly consuming foods high in nutritional value such as fruits, vegetables and fish. Eating these foods typically result in overall good health. Undoubtedly, it is safe to assume that these foods should be an integral part of every daily diet. However, it is the cost of these foods, the availability, variety, and options of healthy foods, and the proclaimed health benefits that raises the most questions and concerns. Not only can these concerns be dispelled, but making healthy choice food can be life changing.
Eating a healthy diet is your main way to get good nutrition. Most people know that a balance of good nutrition and physical activity can help them reach and maintain a healthy weight. But the benefits of good nutrition go beyond weight.
In a study conducted by Cheryl Perry, Dianne Neumark-Sztainer, Mary Anne Casey, and Mary Story, the researchers analyzed adolescents’ perceptions about factors influencing their food choices and eating behaviors. The study included 141 males and females in two schools located in St. Paul, Minn. These participants were in 21 focus groups and were divided into these groups based off of gender and classification. The focus groups were held in the school setting with each group in a different classroom. The participants were audiotaped, and the tapes were transcribed verbatim to ensure systematic analysis of
Learning how to eat healthy was hard. Our daily meals consist of rice, beans, tortillas, oil and avocado. The problem might not have been what we ate, but how much we ate. Our daily meals consisted of starch and fats which made learning how to measure my food the first step.

It can never be said enough, you are what you eat; and those who don’t have a daily balanced meal are at risk of developing all kinds of diseases. Eating healthy should be something you do from an early age, because it should be a habit and not a constraint. If you’ve lost that good habit, it’s never too late, you can still regain it. The same applies to those who have never had a healthy meal in their lives; change is still possible. Did you know that a lack of certain nutrients, like fish oils or omega 3s, can expose you to mental diseases such as mental depression?
My usual food intake is very random and sporadic. I have a very busy lifestyle and I often forget to eat so when I do get hungry I usually grab the first thing that is around. These things tend to be snack foods like granola bars or gold fish. If we have it I try to grab things that are a little healthier such as cheese, fruit, or vegtables. The problem with this is that the healthier choices are more expensive and don’t stay fresh as long so it is hard to buy in bulk. I have two children so I almost always have one good meal a day because I know it is important for them to have all the nutrients that they need. I am very careful about portion sizes and making sure there are fruits and vegetables especially unforunatly the fruits and vegtables are often fresh, but instead frozen or canned. Also, I make sure to add grains, protein, and dairy into their diets. One of my families favorite foods are cheesy mashed potatoes. However, we do not have this often because often we are already have starches in pastas that we are haning, However, it is a nice treat once in awhile. Proteins in a simple explanation, are bulky intricate molecules that play a major role in cells and are essential for the function, construction, and regulation of the body’s organs and tissues. Proteins are comprised of thousands of smaller components named amino acids. Proteins are commonly found in a plethora of foods including fish, beef, pork, dairy products, and chicken (“Lipids and proteins”, 2012). The RDA for protein is 46 g/day for women and 56 g/day for men. Other than the fact that vitamins (macronutrients) in general aid in normal body functioning, growing, and developing, each one has a special role to play in the body. Protein is such a crucial and useful component in one’s personal diet plan to maintain proper health because it is an important building block of skin, blood, muscles, cartilage, and bones. Therefore, this explains why working protein into a personal diet plan is so crucial (McGuire & Beerman, 2013).
