I believe that Friar Laurence is responsible for the tragic death of Romeo and Juliet. If the Friar didn’t make the potion would Romeo’s life had been spared. Wasn’t it the Friar that decided this was the plan that needed to take action. After all, Juliet thought about this plan and trusted Friar Laurence In a sense that everything would be turned out as planned. The Friar should have also made sure Romeo was in full correspondence with the plan as well. Balthasar should not have been the wingman on the trip. Friar Laurence made the mistake of putting himself on the line and he has to fully acknowledge that this was his fault. Most of Friar Laurence’s faults start in act four scene one. At this point, he shares his plan with Juliet and she
Friar Laurence is responsible for the tragic, but avoidable, death of Romeo and Juliet. He went behind the two feuding families backs and developed a plan that killed the two lovers. To enact the plan, Friar Laurence willingly gave Juliet a vial of poison that helped her fake her death,“ Take thou this vial, being then in bed,/and this distilled liquor drink thou off” (IV.I. 93) and when she would awake from her slumber Romeo was supposed to be at her side, “Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift” (IV.I. 114) but Friar Laurence didn’t get the message to Romeo in time.
Even though some people may see Friar Lawrence’s involvement with the two star-crossed lovers as a way to provide them with the happily ever after they had always wanted, once you look at the facts you will be able to see that he is the reason why they are both dead. Some key events were when Friar married Romeo and Juliet in the first place, he made poor decisions, and he gave Juliet the idea to fake her own death. Friar Lawrence is to blame because he knew that he would face dire consequences if the Capulet’s or Montague’s were to ever find out that he married their enemy’s kids.
In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet there are always questions about who is to blame for
Friar Lawrence, a flawed man who had caused the deaths of two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Friar is the most to blame because he wanted to end the feud between the two families but used to young lovers as his servants to end this feud. Both families The Montagues and The Capulets are also to blame because if the feud never even happened Romeo and Juliet wouldn't be dead and resolved their issues after it was too late. Friar knew that Romeo and Juliet liked each other, but he also knew that their families were each other's enemies. He wanted to end this feud and failed because he managed destroying their marriage and having the couple kill themselves due to his Romeo and Juliet is a romance story by William Shakespeare about how two families the Capulets and Montagues were in a feud that has killed multiple people in both families.
I have been grieving for weeks upon weeks because I have lost my beloved, Juliet. I know you must be going through somewhat of the same situation because two of your kinsman have been slain. Although Juliet was not one of my own, she was the closest to it. I have raised this miss since she was a child and I would have liked to see her children as well. This devastating event has hurt a number of people. Friar Lawrence is responsible for the deaths of the adolescents who were just blinded by young love.
In Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, both protagonists Romeo and Juliet, strive towards making their love complete with the help of Friar Lawrence. Both Providence and Friar Lawrence have the similar goal of ending the feud through the love of Romeo and Juliet but with different conclusions. Imagery and devices used to help further emphasize providence’s role in this play. In this play, providence manipulates the characters in order to end the feud.
In the play The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare, the author illustrates the tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers whose love is forbidden due to the everlasting family feud between the Capulets and the Montagues, however, they are secretly wed by Friar Laurence. Romeo is then banished from the city, leaving Juliet, a soon to be wife of Paris, so in order for her not to get married again, the friar gives Juliet a poison that would put her into a death like coma. Unfortunately, Romeo was not given this information, so when he found her “dead” in the chamber, he committed suicide, leaving Juliet to wake up, only to find her lover dead, thus leading her to also commit suicide, which finally ends the Capulet and Montague
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, a longstanding family feud and many swept up emotions cause rash decisions from some characters and in the end cause the death of Romeo and Juliet. But some characters had good intentions. Benvolio was a kind a caring cousin to Romeo, trying to take his attention away from his love, unfortunately he was the one who made him go to the ball in which he fell in love with Juliet. The nurse motivated and supported Juliet to marry Romeo, but as the nurse lost faith in the marriage, she pushes Juliet to marry Paris but this only pushes Juliet further away. Friar Lawrence arranges their marriage and creates a plan to let them escape, but as his plan fails they both die. All these characters had good intentions,
Friar Lawrence and the Capulet family were most at fault for the tragedy between the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. His intentions were in a good place, he wanted them to be together. He had plan, that should’ve worked, but with the events that occurred, like the plague, it did not go as planned. When the plan failed it made a big impact to their lives. He confessed his whole plan and the marriage between Romeo and Juliet. He took responsibility for what he had done when he said, “All this I know; and to the marriage her nurse is privy; and, if aught in this miscarried by my fault, let my old life be sacrificed, some hour before this time, unto the rigour of severest law” (scene 4 act 3). Balthazar did not receive Friars letter so he didn’t know Juliet was alive, while everyone believed that she was dead.
In William Shakespeare’s “The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” many factors add up that eventually lead to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Such as the two constantly going out in secrecy, or even the Nurse encouraging them to continue. This helps play into their deaths. However, there is one main factor that helps to reach the conclusion of their deaths. Friar Lawrence is the main factor and cause for Romeo’s and Juliet’s deaths.
In the face of unexpected challenges and difficult decisions, people’s values will naturally guide and shape their actions and choices. For instance, the presidential election requires that people vote for the candidate they believe resonate with their values. Though many may have America’s best interest at heart when casting their vote, sometimes their choices can create unforeseen harm in other people’s lives. During the 2016 presidential election, many unreasonably voted for Donald Trump in hopes of making America great again, but some may not have realized that they could have caused massive damage to certain people’s lives before it was too late, yet still, the only way for society to be at peace again is to forgive and forget. Similarly, in the Shakespearean play, “Romeo and Juliet,” Friar Lawrence, guided by his values as a holy priest, intends to marry Romeo and Juliet to bring them happiness and end their family’s feud, but his plans do not work out as smoothly as he expects. Although Friar Lawrence
In certain situations, Friar Lawrence doesn’t seem to care about the disposition or the emotions of others; he tends to disregard the consequences of certain decisions and follows through with them anyway. When Friar Lawrence walks into the Capulet house on the day of the wedding, he is well aware of the situation at hand but decides to act like all is well. As he is walking into the house, he exclaims, “Come, is the pride ready to go to church?”(201). He knows that Juliet took the potion and he also knows that Juliet appears to be dead but he acts as he is unaware of the situation. Once he arrives and sees the effect of Juliet’s death, he is hesitant to comfort the family; instead, he scolds them for being upset. While many are sobbing at
Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence plays a large role in their romance, and makes multiple controversial decisions through his involvement. While he has only the best intentions, his decisions wind up being quite detrimental to the protagonists. As the stakes begin to rise within Romeo and Juliet’s relationship, Friar Lawrence can see the dangers, but stands by his decisions to follow through with his plans and ideas. However, in various cases, he is unable to look past the present time in order to see the consequences, as he is more focused on his good intentions. Additionally, as he becomes increasingly more guilty for the tragedy of the young lovers, Friar Lawrence begins to blame his missteps on others, lacking accountability.
