Friar Lawrence finds out about Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other but does not tell the two families about this. If he had told the families maybe Romeo and Juliet could have been able to date because both of the Lords are wise and would have consider let them get married to end the fued. However, if the families disapproved of Romeo and Juliet they could have ended their relationship in the beginning so that they would stop seeing each other. He also knew Romeo's love for Rosaline and how quickly he changed his mind he could have slowed him
Friar Lawrence, goes against the accepted ways at the time, by not informing the parents of Romeo and Juliet, of their intense and blossoming love and their intent to marry, the Friar also fails to get the consent of both Romeo and Juliet’s parents before deciding to marry them: “For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone/ Till holy church incorporate two in one.” (II.vi.36-37) Friar Lawrence’s assistance in Romeo and Juliet’s marital union was an act of rebellion against societal expectations of members of the
Each character in the play,Romeo and Juliet, does certain things based on what they think and how they feel. Most of the other characters’ actions are based off of love, hate, and wealth. As for Friar Laurence, he has different motivations compared to the other characters. He stands up for peace in Verona between the two rich rival families, the Montagues and the Capulets. Everything he does is mostly centered on creating peace.
The character that should be blamed the most in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence should be blamed because he was the one who married the couple after only knowing each other for like an hour. But what the Friar was thinking was a really good idea about marrying the two to maybe end the feud between the families. Then the Friar would be famous for the one who ended the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets.
Even though some people may see Friar Lawrence’s involvement with the two star-crossed lovers as a way to provide them with the happily ever after they had always wanted, once you look at the facts you will be able to see that he is the reason why they are both dead. Some key events were when Friar married Romeo and Juliet in the first place, he made poor decisions, and he gave Juliet the idea to fake her own death. Friar Lawrence is to blame because he knew that he would face dire consequences if the Capulet’s or Montague’s were to ever find out that he married their enemy’s kids.
Friar Laurence intended to bring the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues to an end. To accomplish this, he secretly wed Romeo and Juliet and lied to their parents. Friar Lawrence was trying to accomplish something good, but in the end, people died as a result of his actions.
William shakespeare does a great job connecting each and every character to the book. The book has it's own characteristics to the tragedy.the play has it's fair share of love and hate but like every tragedy it dosent fair week for any.3 characters that play integral roles in the tragedy are Friar Lawrence,Tybalt, and the nurse.
Near the middle of the story, Romeo and Juliet fall in love. Romeo requests that Friar Lawrence allow them to marry and he secretly marries them, representing the “holy church” (2. 6. 35 - 37). If the Friar had not married the couple together, they might have not been so attached to each other and not have wanted to suicide when something bad happened to the other. Friar Lawrence’s intention was to end the fued between the Capulets and the Montagues, but this only created more issues in Verona.
Friar Lawrence is the reason for the death of Romeo and Juliet. The reason being very few people know about the forbidden love of Romeo, and Juliet; the Friar being one of which to know. Friar Lawrence is just trying to be helpful; in doing this he manages to mess up their lives even more.
Friar Lawrence is a character that has a hand in most events in his story. He is a character in Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare. I will be explaining what events the Friar affects by making decisions based on emotion. The Friar did not ask or tell anyone about him marrying Romeo and Juliet.
I know exactly who murdered the couple Romeo and Juliet. The blame is on a man that goes by Friar Lawrence. He faulty plans,he’s irresponsible and does everything secretly on his attempt to bring the couple together but instead tear them apart.
Many people could say that the protagonists of the story Romeo and Juliet have side figures that act as their true parents that help them accomplish their goals in life. In this case, people identify Friar Lawrence and Romeo’s father and the Capulet’s Nurse as Juliet’s mother. By blood these people are not related to either character but many people say that the things they do for these children act “parent like”. Truly, in the book, Lady Capulet suggests that the Nurse mainly took care of Juliet as an infant and Romeo was guided by Friar Lawrence to be the best man he could be. Overall, I believe that Friar Lawrence and Nurse capulet are the “true” parents of Romeo and Juliet.
In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, there are themes that jump out while reading. While some themes are obvious, there are still a few themes that Shakespeare puts in that requires a little bit of deeper digging into the text. A less-obvious theme that Shakespeare was trying to get the audience to notice, was you should compromise with your enemies. Friar Lawrence is one of the characters that captures the theme really well, especially with two major actions that he did during the play.
“Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”-Murphy’s Law. This is awfully true when it comes to the story of Romeo and Juliet, and to think, it all could have been avoided if one person was a little more cautious. Being an intelligent man and counselor of the people, you would think Friar Lawrence would be less inept when it comes to giving a young, impressionable, foolish, naive, teen girl consultation over a boy she can’t be with under normal circumstances. Friar not only tells the girl to kill herself to be with a guy he married her to 3 days ago, but he tries to tell the dude about this through a third party. All of Friar’s decisions are poorly made right from the get go. The most wise and noble man defeated by teenage drama.
In certain situations, Friar Lawrence doesn’t seem to care about the disposition or the emotions of others; he tends to disregard the consequences of certain decisions and follows through with them anyway. When Friar Lawrence walks into the Capulet house on the day of the wedding, he is well aware of the situation at hand but decides to act like all is well. As he is walking into the house, he exclaims, “Come, is the pride ready to go to church?”(201). He knows that Juliet took the potion and he also knows that Juliet appears to be dead but he acts as he is unaware of the situation. Once he arrives and sees the effect of Juliet’s death, he is hesitant to comfort the family; instead, he scolds them for being upset. While many are sobbing at
In reading critical analysis of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" I found that many people call Friar Lawrence a moderate man who elicits to others his voice of wisdom and reason. An example of this sort of conclusion is George Ian Duthie's opinion that Lawrence is "A very worthy man", "prudent" and "worldly-wise"(xix.xx). G.B. Harrison views him as "sympathetically treated", "wise, grave, patient"(6). Due to this continuing interpretation, the view of Friar Lawrence has not really changed through the years. Mutschman and Wentersdorf followed the herd when they stated in their book that
