Friendship : My Best Friend

First and foremost, when a person is a true friend, he or she doesn't ever say, ¨Sorry, I can't¨ or ¨Maybe next time.¨ a true friend is one that when you feel depressed, he or she is already at your door to see what is wrong. Any person that knows about true friendship should know that betrayal is never acceptable. True friendship means to share, give and, stay when it's most needed.

In the article “What Makes A True Friend” by Alex Lickerman he discussed what it is that makes someone a true friend. Lickerman included four interesting things that draw people together. The author also listed three details telling the reader what makes someone worthy of the title “true friend.” Finally, Lickerman explained to the reader how to attract a true friend. One step was becoming a true friend yourself. I myself have my own definition of what makes someone a true friend like most people. I believe that a true friend is someone that is always there for you, honest with you, and supports what you do even if they do not agree.

Every single individual has a set of values that are dear to them and and as individuals we tend to live our lives by these particular standards or principals and we all find things to have different levels of importance. The values i chose include friendship, happiness, dedication, adventure/exploration and curiosity.

The word friendship is determined in many different ways. Webster's Dictionary defines friendship as a friendly relation, or attachment, to a person, or between persons. In order to have a friendship, a friend is needed. A friend is described as a person who has a strong liking for and trust in another. As there are many definitions for the word friendship, everyone has their own personal definition of what a real friendship is. My personal definition of friendship is someone who will be there no matter what the circumstances are. Also, a real friendship should have no judgment, trust, and equal effort. I would define a friend as someone who is loyal, dependable, and always there in a time of need. However, friendship differs between people. For example, the friendship between someone and their parents would be different with someone their own age. A friendship can exist between best friends, friends, acquaintances, lovers, children, parents, siblings, and much more. However, all of these types of friendships are different.

Friendship is universal. It can bridge societal gaps of gender, race, social class, and differences in abilities. College is a time of personal growth, and friendships have a tremendous impact on the development and experiences of an individual. Through Best Buddies, college students and adults in the community with disabilities have the opportunity to share friendships. These relationships bring people of all abilities, interests, and talents together, as equals and as friends. I chose to look at these friendships

Friendship is exceedingly imperative to me and has been an immense influence on me and my life. The way it has impacted me has changed dramatically, starting in fourth grade when I was accepted into Quest, the advanced program in my school district. In fourth and fifth grade I made friends with a majority of the other kids in Quest. We were all quite close. We hung out all the time. At recess the entire class played capture the flag together, apart from the rest of the classes in our school. We always stuck up for each other. We were like a family. The changes and continuities with my relationships have sculpted my outlook on friendship and how I feel about my friends.

Loyalty is a vital virtue in all relationships, especially friendship. A loyal friend will be need in order to share each other's secret, help for emergency, and advice for life when something happens suddenly no matter good or bad. It is very benefit for having a good friend. For instance, if we are angering, disappointing, or confusing about something, then we will have our good friend who will always be there when we need, listen to what we say, and back us up without any questions. Friendship is a relationship in which two people often share openly and equally with each other, it takes time and effort to build up a friendship. It is common in friendships to share moments of happiness, joy, grief, fear, and the list goes on. Honesty is the single most important component to a friendship because it creates trust. Honesty helps to build feelings of being connected. Honesty helps build loyalty. A friend does not always tell the other what they want to hear, but will always tell one what they need to hear. Friendship is not one-sided. An individual is not going to confide their deepest darkest secrets to someone whom they don't

My friends mean alot to me, as does my family. I try to mingle with different people and I try to avoid people who have a bad influence on me. The qualities that I tend to look for in a freind can vary. Honesty and reliability are all good traits. I also like a person who can laugh and have fun. I like friends who are there when you need them and I tend to gravitate towards people who are similar to me.

A true friend will always be there for you. No matter how immense or diminutive the problem may be, true friends will be the first ones there. If somebody is having trouble understanding their homework, a friend will be there to help that person understand that material. When someone is feeling down and not having a great day, a friend will try to cheer you up by acting silly. A great friend will always try to be the first ones there, regardless of the situation. This is what separates a friend from a genuine friend.

This means backing your friend no matter what others think or consider about and being authentic in all circumstances of life. Being authentic strengthens the relation. To have faithful friends, being faithful is the first and foremost quality, which lays foundation for true friendship. Even though you stay together or apart, faithfulness is of high priority in any relationship.

A sincere and truthful friendship built in virtue leads to an honest, good life. The author Vernon said friendship brings a happy life to both parties (“The Philosophy of Friendship”). A good friendship brings love, peace, joy, and justice not only for each friend but also for society. Friends enjoy a sincere and faithful companionship. Wei Tu said trust between friends is sustained by a long lasting commitment that aims to mutual flourishing (Slote 128). In order to have a true friendship, one has to commit himself or herself to truthfulness in words and actions. A perfect friendship brings forth harmony, peace, love, and justice during someone’s life and allows society to flourish.

A genuine and loyal friendship can change a person for the better and it can help them set goals which they can accomplish together. Friendship is also a meaningful thing for people because loyal friends share each other’s emotions, problems,

Would you prefer your friends to be more similar or would more diverse? Regardless of what the answer most the time people that are similar tend to stick together. This however is not the case with my best friends there are as many differences as there are similarities if not more. Isaac and Aric are cousins, but also my best friends also becoming best friends with each other after the three of us started hanging out. The different aspects of them both is what brings the three of us together.

The first blessing of a best friend is also seen as a bit of a curse: an honest opinion. One can always count on a best friend to state their true opinion on a matter. Whether it is telling one that that outfit is terrible or say that that guy one is talking to is a jerk; They are there to to give constructive criticism on problems regarding all aspects of life. When one finds a friend not afraid to tell the truth, no matter one's feelings, one must keep them. An honest opinion can stop one from doing something they will regret or make them more confident going into something. This works both ways. One must also be truthful to one's friends. Being truthful is an important thing for friendships. Honesty will allow for happiness to fill the friendship and continues to strengthen the friendship. In addition to an honest
