A community is an abode to many personalities, drives and lifestyles. Both the inhabitants within the community and the community itself benefit from the multiple personas. Florida State’s Community will benefit me by learning from brilliant, successful and innovative, teachers, fellow students and alumnus. On the contrary FSU’s community will benefit from me because I am resilient, a hard worker, and I interact with the community. These qualities have been acquired mainly by my parents and they are the reason I am the person who I am today alongside the volunteering activities I was able to be a part of.
Both my mom and my dad have taught me numerous life lessons they learned through their own life experiences. For instance, my dad’s abusive aunt kicked him out of the house at the age of fifteen. Luckily, he still graduated high school and moved on to join the Navy Seals so he would be able to afford and attend universities. Unfortunately, in one of the missions he sustained an injury, but he recovered and attended law school, even though the doctors thought that he would need assistance for the rest of his life. My mom immigrated here to the United States and vowed to herself that she would be successful and help people while doing so.

Through volunteer work I witnessed the effects of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and child illnesses. Unfortunately, there isn’t a cure yet for Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s in the future I want to be able to conduct free screening to be able to detect these illnesses before they occur to initiate a plan on how to control it. Eventually, I want to be able to work with neurologist to find a cure. On the other hand, if I lead towards the children aspect of psychology I want to make it more accessible to low income families, so they could provide support for their children who have mental/ developmental
My mother has always had major health issues, going in and out of hospitals all the time, but she wouldn't go down without a fight, and luckily, we still have her here with us. Any mother would want the best for her children, so one day my mom dropped everything in Reynosa and decided to move here, to the United States, in order to give us more opportunities and a real chance to succeed. Therefore, my parents have taught me to be the responsible, strong, and hard working person I am today.
The transition from being a child, dependent upon parents for everything, to an independent adult is one of the most stressful times a person will endure. Legally speaking, 18 is the age when you become an adult but the number doesn’t describe the responsibilities and independence you must take on. College is seen as the “big step” into the real world and many people struggle in choosing where to make their transition. I would like to take my “big step” by attending Florida Atlantic University.
Coming from a small town on the east coast, I would have never expected to fall in love with such a large and diverse college like the University of Michigan. The upbeat atmosphere of Ann Arbor alone was enticing enough before I even saw the actual campus. Upon visiting, I quickly realized the University of Michigan was a place I would not mind spending my next couple of years. From the countless students all around to the wide variety of shops in town, Ann Arbor seemed like a lively and exciting place to spend my college experience. While walking through the campus, I was continuously amazed by the large intricate buildings surrounding me. Some of my favorites included the Law Library, the College of LSA and the Michigan Union. While I do not plan on attending it, the Ross School of Business was also an incredible
As a transfer student, I want to feel California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) such as my home. Being ambassador, it is the best to learn about my school, share my experiences, motivate other students to work towards their goals, look for help if they need, show other students our school's resources, and make others feel special for being part of CSUF.
I have grown up on my family farm outside of Albert Lea MN for my whole life. I have always taken a special interest in the beef cattle on our farm. I currently manage all of the herd records, and own part of the business. Throughout my SAE project through FFA, I started my own herd as well. I work extremely hard on our farm with the beef chores. I also help out with the crop farming on my farm by running tractors and watching bins. Because I have such an interest in cattle, I started working on a dairy farm two years ago. I currently milk 150 cows before, and after school everyday. I take a lot of time with my school studies as well. I maintain a 4.0 even while taking numerous college classes, and working. One of my greatest passions while in school has been FFA. I have served as the historian and the President of our
As a child I learned about the world primarily by experimenting rather than asking someone. That being said, I have had my fair share of failures such as baking gummy bears in cookies. However, I have also had much success. While the rest of my class was growing crystals for our science fair, I was piecing together a coyote skeleton. In high school, I conducted scientific research on drought signals amongst soybeans at varying distances. This research not only took me to the State Science Fair, but the International Science and Engineering Fair as well. I fell into a fascination of science at a young age, and I have a desire to continue on this path. The REU program offered at Tarleton is not only superb in research, but a great fit to me as
As a senior in high school, I have been questioned about where I am going to school and what degree I plan on getting. Up until about November of 2015, I was very indecisive. I was torn between a career in healthcare and what I knew I was passionate about. I wanted to be a teacher. I have taken health care classes since my freshman year of high school.
Personally, I have always been indecisive in all my decisions. Entering high school I had planned to take extracurricular classes pertaining to nursing. I was not exactly the most interested in that field of study, but I has been told that is the career I would make money in. The first day of high school I was not looking forward to entering the nursing class. I was sitting in my home room class waiting on my schedule anticipation rushing through my veins as I waited on my name to be called.
A Community is like a family outside of home, and I always aim to do the best for it. I spent most of my time in the community at church and at school. At Church I assist in bringing planned events to fruition. I help create an environment in and out of school that is warm and welcoming, I accomplish this through music or actions. Tulare Western High School is a better place thanks to the joint efforts of everyone enrolled. At school rallies and football games wouldn't be same without people like me who love their school, and give it spirit. Without us they'd be nearly soulless, and erring. Not only do people such as I make school experiences more memorable, we contribute and thank others through our actions, for example in December our entire
List all your commitments, involvements, and organizations you will be involved with on campus and/or in the community during the 2015-2016 academic year.
I believe that TCU can be a great fit for me especially in the aspects of the major I intent to pursue. At this moment, I intend to pursue a degree for accounting, and I believe the Neeley School of Business is an excellent place to learn from. I hope to learn about concepts like cash flow statements or understanding deeper into terms such as liabilities, capital, and mathematics in economics. In a way, I believe I can find my passion in this school. Even if I would decide not to take accounting, I am confident in finding my passion in
My choice to attend FIU was one of the easier ones I’ve made so far in my academic career. I was drawn to the university as I felt a sense of community here that has only been further enhanced as a legacy, with both my mother and stepfather having completed their Bachelor degrees at this institution. The relationships and connections my parents were able to build here were a testament to FIU’s ability to bring together people from so many different backgrounds and create a family. I experienced an even greater connection as my stepfather found a lifelong friendship and mentor in an FIU staff member and honored him by making him the godfather of one of my younger brothers. Thus, FIU has been a special part of my life even before college was
As a UCF Knight, I’ve been given the tools to forge my path towards professional development and success. Prior to pursuing my Masters in Public Administration, I received my Bachelors in Legal Studies. However, I decided to go into a different route by returning to UCF and finding a career that I was passionate about and that was rewarding not only for myself but for the local community that I aim to serve in various leadership roles. UCF has given me an invaluable opportunity to become an experienced public servant with a global perspective to advance my knowledge and skills in local government, economic development, and urban planning.
My father has taught me to be a man, to be honest, to hunt, to work hard, and to treat others the way I want to be treated. My mother has been there for me in more ways than I could ever list. Some that standout are teaching me to be loving and caring, to know the Lord, to know right from wrong, to go after what I want in life, to clean, to balance a checkbook, and to be the best I can be at whatever I do. I had a couple of teachers in high school which helped me through some tough times in my learning. I struggled in school because I have a reading deficiency and I’m not a very good reader still to this day. One of those teachers was Ms. Carolyn who was possibly the greatest Algebra teacher in existence! I say that with the utmost sincerity. She made math learnable and fun. Another was Ms. Shawna who helped me pass the state English II test so that I could graduate high school. I had taken the test 4 times previously and not been able to pass it and I was a senior and only had one more time to take it. Lots of teachers had tried to help those of us who couldn’t pass it but had not had much luck with me. Ms. Shawna took the time out of her already busy schedule and tutored me one on one for several weeks and on the fifth try I finally passed it. I will always be grateful to her for showing me the material in a different way so I could understand it. I guess you could say she taught me patience. There have been others through my 20 years on earth thus far who have made lasting impressions on me which I know have made me a better person for having known them. I still have a lot to learn and know that I will make more mistakes along the way, because life is a learning experience, but I will use them as building blocks to better myself in the long
A community is a group of people who share a similar characteristic. While there are many different interpretations of the word “community,” from an emotional tie to actually being in the same physical place at the same time, most of us can agree that the people of a community share something in common. And I believe most of us know what it’s like to be a Kennesaw State University (KSU) freshman so we are all already part of the same community. We have gathered in this place to learn, seek out our dreams, and ultimately fulfill them.
