A teacher must provide a safe and supportive learning environment from the onset of learning at induction stage - which will cover ground rules and appropriate health and safe practices the learner must abide by. It is also normal practice to repeat prior starting of a task that has the potential to cause such as use of knives in a catering environment. Such instruction makes the learner aware and promotes safe practice. The teacher also has to ensure the physical learning environment is set up to be appropriately supportive and safe for learning to take place.
I believe that each child is unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invite a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment namely, the teacher acting guide, allowing the child’s natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, promoting respect for all the things and all the people.

It is important to establish appropriate behaviour and respect for others in order to fully realise the potential of all within and to ensure each student is safe from both physical and psychological harm. Appropriate behaviour must apply to both student and teacher. I, as a teacher, must follow a Code of Practice in order foster individual growth and learning. The principles of Good Practice are to treat people with care, respect and dignity. To recognise that I, as a teacher, am a trusted representative of my work place. I must ensure communication with students is open and clear and assess the risks to my students of the activities by carrying out a thorough risk assessment before each session.
Using my personal presence, presonal example, charisma and tools such as ground rules, I need to create the right first impression to ensure that my learners are aware of their responsibilities within the learning environment. I try to create an environment of support, collaboration and mutual respect. I am responsible for ensuring inclusivity of the learners and celebrating their diversity. I have a duty of care in respect of my learners and should get advice and guidance from my fellow professionals in areas I am unsure of. The environment should be in accordance with Health and Safety requirements allowing free movement and access, no trip hazards, safe, tested electrical equipment. I need to create a psychologically safe environment without intimidation or disrespect. I would do this by challenging inappropriate behaviour and encouraging positive behaviour. I could also refer learners back to the ground rules. Depending on the learning needs / progress of individuals I might need to adapt and target some parts of the course content. I need to minimise jargon and adapt my language and style to the needs of the participants. I need to create opportunities for networking, self-development and experimentation. I must also be aware of any perceived or real barriers to learning and make appropriate interventions. To do this I would confer with teaching assistants or ‘privately’ discuss any issues directly with learners.
As a tutor, I have many responsibilities to make the learners of which I teach, feel safe and supported in their learning environment.
It is my strong belief that each child is entitled to a safe, secure, stimulating and caring learning environment. I always believed that each child is a unique individual with much curiosity and many academic, social and emotional needs. Children need our support in order to mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As a teacher, one should aim to help students in fulfilling their dreams to become successful and educated individuals. Providing a safe and secure environment enables students to explore and participate in learning. Students will volunteer answers and ask questions when they feel safe. When students feel safe they are more willing to talk about themselves to others and the teacher. Establish relationships with your students and build a sense of community within your classroom. Students need to get to know each other as well as experience the “human” side of their teacher. This will allow for a safe and trusting classroom environment.
The first step in classroom management is to create an environment where students feel cared for and valued. To do accomplish this, teachers need to build positive student-teacher relationships. Related to my role as a teacher, I have to make sure that learner have to be safe in leaning environment, I must prevent, remove or use with precaution anything that wouldn’t affect the learner’s health and safety. If the student are doing some kind of test in a science lab, we must make sure there is nothing on the floor, all the bag and chairs have to be remove an put in safe place, they have to use gloves if necessary and wear a goggle for eyes protection, and always wash hands at the end of session.

2) Create a safe classroom environment. Develop rules and procedures which provide a structured environment rich in routine and shared expectations. Develop and enforce rules prohibiting sarcastic, degrading, and berating remarks and comments by students directed at other students. In my classroom I implemented a "No Hunting" rule. No student may physically or verbally hurt another. Additionally, learn to use positive reinforcement instead of negative reinforcement to correct student behaviors. Lastly, provide copious amounts of praise and reinforcement for student risk taking. Become an advocate for each of your students. Take time out to let each student know how well they are doing. This could take the form of a short handwritten note on their papers, or verbal comment. The key is to focus on the students ' positive attributes and aid the student in developing an increased level of self-esteem.
