Gender Inequality In Society

Living in peace needs equality of men and women because humans don’t fight if all humans have equality. Everyone has a chance to get peace and happiness, but some people cannot because of custom. For example, in the past, women had to work for men, and there was a gender discrimination. From 19th to early 20th century, women fought against women’s issues such as education, economic, violence, and abortion because women’s position is very low and weak, so they couldn’t have decision rights. However, the society became better as the years went by. The comparison between past and present history shows the current situation of gender issues in the workplace and in education, and results shows how gender equality is important for peace.

In the world, there is inequality in everything. But there is a ton of inequality in the work force. The tension that this inequality causes is brought home to the family. The resentment that is felt toward male workers is brought into the house and causes unnecessary arguments among married couples. Now if there is inequality in the home as well as at work, the probability for fighting is more likely to increase. These fights maybe just verbal fights, but it may lead to physical violence. I’m going to use my personal experience to explain inequality and marriage.

Today most children in the United States attend classes where gender equality exists. Students have classes in which both boys and girls are treated equally and are friends with one another and that is all that they have ever known. However, this is not always the case in every country. As of 2015, 53% of the children who are not attending school throughout the world are female ("11 Facts About..."). Gender inequality is an important issue that needs to be focused on and fixed throughout the world, especially within the education systems. Although many people are aware of this issue, most people do not see it as a priority in the world right now. The gender gap in education systems throughout the world needs to be closed because gender equality is a necessity in the world and this is where it all starts.

Throughout history, women's roles in society have been different than those of men's. Women’s jobs were generally connected to their traditional roles of caring for the home, raising children, making clothes, and cooking food, while men were the breadwinners in the families. Women had been brought up to become mothers (as well as nurturers) while men were brought up to become entrepreneurs and businessmen. It was not until the 1950s that women began to protest and fight for equal rights. In an ideal world, America is the land of opportunity, promise, and freedom, but in reality, American society is dominated by a materialistic, prejudiced, isolated, and consumerist culture. The atmosphere surrounding the nation promotes a social hierarchy, separates individuals into collective identities such as gender, race, religion, and wealth, and distorts our national identity. In essence, the privileged status of being an American entitles us to a false sense of superiority resulting in animosity, distrust, fear of foreigners, and egocentricity.

Politically, I believe that for men and women to be equal, women need to be proportionately represented in government, from local offices to the oval office. I personally discovered the importance of this issue when I realized that women make up less than 20% of Congress, thus making men the primary deciders of women’s issues. This is a

Question #3 – I would tell my friend…yes, we are all equal. However, history hasn’t always showed men and women being equally treated. Even though society has made a lot of progress, we are still living in a patriarchy, a system that privileges men over women. Furthermore, some would even say we still live in an androcentric society, a culture that places masculinity at the center. Even worse, our country is full of sexism. Compared to the 1950’s, you might believe men and women are treated pretty equally in society. Notwithstanding, there still is a lot of gender injustices in our current society, especially in America, and there is proof to back it up. For the following reason, this is why studying gender is still extremely relevant.

Many societal problems persevere by allowing ignorance from those that have the power to make change. In a society, which prides itself on its regard for equality of all persons, gender equality is problematic because the social phenomenon creates a stratified system where one gender is regarded as being superior to the other or others. Understanding Social Problems 5th ed, by Holmes et al. (2016), provides insight into how this stratified society allows scholars to identify many different perspectives from which to examine social problems.

For centuries issue of gender equality continues to be predominant in today’s society due to the prolonged gap between male and female opportunities. I personally believe gender is major equality right that all human being is entitled to despite their background such as ethnicity, race, religion, and sexuality. In all cases, women and men are equal because they both play an important role in society. Many people believe that feminism is the belief that women should share the same equal amount of rights as men. Stereotypically, women play a domestic role in a relationship. On the other hand, men are out in the working world making money. However, gender roles in society are constantly changing. Change constantly occurs because women no longer want to be dependent on men for their basic needs. Also, the biggest influence against women equal rights is the media. The media portrays females as dependent and uneducated. Despite it all, as time goes by females are more acknowledge.

Gender inequality is the preference or favoritism against an individual completely or even halfway because of their gender. This belief system begins from the socially built traditions as to who belongs where in the family and workforce since the old days. Now as possible as it is that people of all genders are vulnerable to it, in the present society, it is evident that a man is preferred over a woman to take lead or handle the situation with poise, strength, and vigor. It can be seen almost every situation where men are treated as the main or head within a group of people and women are slighted over almost unwittingly. This unequal treatment can be seen in different social conditions and places like learning establishments, colleges, holy places, workspaces, recreations, and occasions to give some examples.

Gender inequality is a worldwide issue that has been affecting both men and women for ages. The separation of men and women has played a big role in the development of the genders which in turn, brought about a major setback for women because it created men superiority thus putting women at the lower spectrum of society. This issue has affected the way women are being paid, how much political power and voice they own and has placed restrictions upon their actions. Gender inequality is a socially constructed principle that has deprive women from having the same opportunities and rights as men. The only way this could be stopped is if the world changes the way both men and women are taught in order to change current views, but instead society chooses to continue to shrink women’s ambitions because it would be considered ‘a threat to men’, without understanding that is not only affecting the women of today, but also the women of tomorrow.

Our American Society has a pattern of gender stratification. There is an unequal distribution of wealth, power, and privilege between men and women. Gender has been a means of categorization for constructing a hierarchy throughout American history. Gender affects the opportunities and constraints we face throughout our lives. An important pattern of inequality that exists on the basis of gender is profession.

It is undeniable that gender inequalities issues have become a centerpiece within global politics. Despite efforts in the last decade by feminist activists and politicians to reach gender equality in politics, women are still underrepresented within governments worldwide. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said it best when he was questioned as to why he considered gender parity within his Cabinet to be a necessity : ‘Because it’s 2015’ (Warzecha). The aim of this essay will be to defend Prime Minister Trudeau’s decision to implement gender parity as it purports to decrease gender inequalities and because gender parity in itself fulfills the basic values of a democratic state. In order to determine the possible implications of this new policy, it is necessary to determine whether institutions ought mirror society in their political representation. The case of the Rwandan government will be reviewed in order to determine the outcome and implications of a female-majority government so as to determine the benefits of gender parity. Finally I will evaluate the possible flaws behind the establishment of gender parity and how despite those flaws, the Canadian government and governments worldwide ought to establish gender parity as a duty to democracy and future generations.

The mass media has been stereotyping genders and misleading the minds of children for ages. Children's books present a plethora of ideologies, beliefs, and values from the dominant culture, including gender ideologies. The social constructs that society has invented is being taught to children as they mindlessly watch a television show or read a book, not knowing the propaganda of what they are consuming. The gender inequality in children’s television shows and books teach the minds of young adolescent’s, societies impression of family gender roles, relationships and the different levels of importance with physical looks in men versus women. These reasons help highlight how children’s media is promoting gender inequality and distorting the minds of young children.

As we are all birth equally throughout the world, there is still contingency that causes a barrier between human kinds. What barriers are we talking about that can’t be changed through our DNA? That is our gender. When each of us are born into the world, we are labeled as male or female due to our genetical DNA and different types of organs (WHO). Yet, society still isn’t as balance enough and there are still so much discrimination in gender in even today’s society.
