W. Bush’s position of being a member of the House of Representatives (Biography…George W. Bush). Additionally, it wasn’t until after his father’s successful win for President in 1988 when George W. Bush gathered a group of partners together to purchase the Texas Rangers baseball team (Biography…George W. Bush). Only after briefly owning the Texas Rangers did George W. Bush decide to put his name into the Governor’s hat and run for Governor of Texas. However, some of his private affairs were leaked to the public, including his early years of alcoholism before his marriage to Laura Welch. This, from personal perspective, played a huge role in how he was looked at during his career of public service as Governor and President of the United States. In all honesty, the lack of public service experience was the most likely result of his dismal eight years as president, which included getting the United States of America involved in an unnecessary war and leaving America in a recession once leaving office.

George Walker Bush was born a little over a year later on July 6, 1946. George W.'s father continued his studies at Yale after his son was born, and would graduate two years later in the spring of 1948. The day after graduation, the elder Bush set off for West Texas and a job at the International Derrick and Equipment Company in Odessa, Texas; his wife and son arrived two weeks later. Odessa was a blue-collar town, where pipe-layers and roughnecks lived. Odessa's white-collar sister city was Midland, where the oil deals were made, and the company headquarters were established. More importantly, this is where George H.W. aspired to be. But for now the couple moved into a small apartment in Odessa, where instead of dealing with oilmen they had to deal with another couple with whom they shared their bathroom.

It is widely accepted that George Bush Snr. was forced to play out his presidency in the mighty shadow of Ronald Reagan. Reagan's charm and personality was one of his greatest strengths and, even now, is widely revered for his time as President. Bush was reportedly always conscious of people's expectations of him in view of his predecessor and this burden seemed to weigh heavily. Reagan's achievements in Washington were considerable, if not in number then in impact. His political and strategic skills were impressive and Bush cannot be said to have equalled his achievements at home, and this is borne out by Bush's failure to win re-election.

In this first primary source, you can see an 1847 sketch of U.S. soldiers attacking Monterrey made by the “ONE-LEGGED SERGEANT.” This sketch served as a cover for the biography of General Zachary Taylor. It represented his life and character. After analyzing this primary sketch, I have learned that this was made by a person that went by the “One-legged Sergeant”, General Taylor was an American Hero and a “People’s man”. In the sketch, you see a superior man standing between the soldiers and -- what looks like -- a canon. By looking at this picture, you can tell that the man in the middle, who i’m assuming is General Taylor, displays leadership expertise.
Theodore Roosevelt: President, conservationist, man’s man, and an american hero. The things he did for our country before, during and after his presidency are beyond number. From his early days, he suffered from asthma and overcame it with sheer determination and regular exercise, proving his persistence (Cooper). He managed to get into Harvard, and was known to run for miles through the woods daily in order to keep physically fit. He used this same determination to enter politics and ascend to President, and also throughout his presidential terms. There is no doubt that Roosevelt contributed a great amount to society and had a lasting effect on the nation, effects that reverberate even to today.
