George Washington Middle School has a fairly large population of special education students ranging from lower to higher functioning students. The teacher of the special education students at the middle school, Ms. Jones, had a difficult job in creating lesson plans and activities that would be engaging and on the appropriate level for all students. Ms. Jones found a new computer program that she knew all of her students would be able to enjoy and learn from. The mobile computer lab was a very hot commodity in the Middle School amongst all the teachers because they were new and they supported all the software that was coming out. Ms. Jones tried to see if the new computer program would work on the older computers so the class would be able
My eighth grade classroom is set in a Jr-Sr. High school and is located in the Jr. High hallway, in the rear of the high school. I have thirty-two student desks situated in rows and two small tables at the front of my room used for paper pick up. My desk and computer are in the back corner of the room. The students all have their own Chromebooks and I have a desktop computer as well as a Samsung Tablet. Google Classroom is used daily as well as many other applications suited for 1:1 schools. I also have a projector hanging from the ceiling and two large white boards located on the front and side walls of my classroom. The class that I will be focusing on in this paper is made up of 26 students, 15 boys and 11 girls. One student with learning disabilities, another is an ELL student. This class meets for 55 minutes.
Last year, at Kingsland High School’s Graduation Ceremony, Josie Hinze not only receiveed her High School Diploma, but also her Associates of Arts Degree before even attending any college or university. Fast-forward to one year later, and seven Kingsland students will be graduating high school with both their High School Diploma and AA Degree thanks to the collaboration of Riverland Community College and Kingsland High School for allowing high school students to take college-level courses in high school and receive college credit for them. Not only that, but there are several others who will be graduating Kingsland High School with transferrable college credit so their first few semesters might
Park Middle is located in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and is one of two middle schools within the town. On average there are 930 students enrolled at Park over the past three years (See Appendix A, Table A1). Additionally, Scotch Plains’ population consists of 77.4% White citizens, but is also composed of 11.1% of African Americans, 7.7% Asian, and 6.7% Hispanic citizens (see Appendix B, Table B1). The town’s population is largely representative of the school’s demographics (see Appendix C, Graph C1). When referencing the school’s performance on district benchmarks and state testing, Park Middle School has met most of their established targets. However, even with most established targets met, certain subgroups are in need of further attention
On September 8, 2015, I was assigned this case to follow up. This case involved Mr. Oswaldo Javier Flores a fifteen year old Francis Hammond Middle School student. I contacted Milagro Estela Flores (mother) and asked her permission to speak to her son at school. Mrs. Flores gave her permission to speak to her son. Mrs. Flores expressed her frustration as Oswaldo refuses to follow rules at home and has been caught with marijuana in the past.
Gulf Shores Middle School- On January 13th, the students of Coach Cobb’s eighth grade classes did an experiment to see how far a barbie doll would drop based on the amount of rubber bands placed on its legs. The students were to bring barbies in, the Coach Cobb gave every group of students a barbie doll to use. Then the students were to tie a rubber band around its legs to keep them still, then tie more around that until there was a group of bands from two to six. After that the students were to put the last band on a ruler and drop the barbie, in the same way every time, off of their desks to see how far in meters the barbie would fall. Then on the next day the students dropped one barbie off of a (FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENS)
At 1:05 pm students at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL gather their books and valentine’s day gifts as they make their way laughing and having fun with their group of friends to their last class period of the day while waving goodbye to the one friend whose class is in the opposite direction.
On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, I, Officer McDaniel #147, while at James Coble Middle School, located at 1200 Ballweg Rd, Arlington, TX, I was approached by Assistant Principal Myers, Laura, W/F, DOB 02/16/1968, in reference to a cell phone screen that was broke by another student.
On February 22, 2016, I was assigned this case for follow up. I was assigned a second case on February 24, 2016. The person involved in both investigations is Ms. Kassidy Pullara a fourteen year old T.C. Williams High School student. I contacted Doris L. Stanley (Guardian) and was granted access at school to interview Kassidy Pullara in school.
Saegertown has a new sheriff in town, and his name is Mr. Brian Lipps. On Friday, Dec. 16, Mr. Lipps was announced as the new Dean of Students for Saegertown High School, and his first day was Monday, Dec 19. It is expected that Mr. Lipps will officially be announced at the next board meeting on Jan.12. Most students have already noticed his presence. “It’s different. They [students] are more aware they can get into trouble and have to follow the rules more so they will behave,” said freshman Meadow Campbell.
Ridgeway Junior High School faculty and staff alongside some parents of students of Ridgeway find themselves in the throws of a heated debate against other parents on the permissibility of providing students attending this junior high with contraception through the school. Ridgeway Junior High is a low income school located in Maryland, where black, latino and other students of color are in majority. In many recent years, Ridgeway has seen the increase of teen pregnancies, last year alone there was a district record high of 25 pregnant girls, which didn’t include students who didn’t report because they for example, secretly had an abortion. Franklin Junior High which is just outside of Lincoln Heights, where Ridgeway is located, is predominantly middle class white families and sees much lower instances of teenage pregnancy without having to provide contraception at school. The health class at Ridgeway is not that comprehensive, abstinence is preached, but not extensively, it warns of the dangers of teenage pregnancy and STDs,
Assistant Principal (AP) will be entering the community on October 01, 2016 to partner with parents of students that attend Silverado High School. The AP would like to communicate with parents that Silverado has an educational competitive environment that needs to stay healthy and safe. I agree with you that change does not come easy and will take plenty of positive motivation. Data can be disturbing and scary at times. Like Kim, I have to ask the question, who is listening and what can be done to change this trend?
My idea for this project in EAST would be to get a Therapy Dog for our school, Greenbrier Middle School. Mrs. Buchanan and possibly Mrs. Wilcox would be the handlers for this dog, since we think it would be a good fit to definitely have one in the counselor’s office, and then one with Mrs. Wilcox, since she has special Ed classes.
The first recommendation for Lacy Elementary would be to split lunch into three groups since the cafeteria is too small and the number of students exceeds capacity when split into two groups. This would ensure that no more than 220 students would be in the cafeteria at one time, making managing the population easier and reducing the amount of pushing and shoving. Students would be able to get through the lunch lines with less wait time. The expectations of cafeteria behavior should be posted in an area visible to all students and staff. Procedures for dropping classes off, student routines in the cafeteria, and dismissal of students from cafeteria need to be established and followed by all staff and students. Students should be required to enter the cafeteria, grab their lunch and sit in their assigned are of the
The events that took place at Washington High Schools have caused a division between the students, teachers and administration. While some support the decision the principal has made to suspend the students for their untasteful talent show performance, others question its effectiveness. Shortly after the suspension, the students began segregating themselves and exchanging racial comments. The situation has escalated out of control and it has become a political one; leaders of the African American community want to discuss the talent show protest and are demanding a meeting with the principal.
