At sixteen, I packed up to move back to my hometown of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Deciding to finish out high school while living with my favorite aunt. I graduated with honors, I then decided to go off to Pearl River College. In high school, I had a serious boyfriend, we did everything together from fishing at the docks, to attending all the hottest parties. He was my best friend and going off to college where we couldn’t be together felt like a big dent in my heart. Being so in love while in college was more than a challenge. We went from seeing each other every day to seeing each other every weekend or every other weekend. School was the last thing on my mind. Depressed, lonely, all my time was spent in my dorm room. By the end of that semester without trying to succeed in school, I flunked out and quit.
Have you ever had a dream where you would do anything to follow it no matter the sacrifices? Going from being surrounded by all the people who love us in a place we are familiar with to walking into a new “home” all alone is a difficult change to adapt to. Moving to college has been a very hard leaving my childhood neighborhood and family but I’m willing to do anything to chase this dream of becoming a professional footballer. I’ve been chasing this dream most of my life, around age 7, and this dream still persists in my mind to this day.
Transitioning from a home of which most people spent 18 years of their lives with their parents, to moving to a completely new environment can have many effects on a person. For one, having a parent to cook or feed you most of the time can be very convenient. Personally, I have a mother who loves to cook. The refrigerator would always be stocked with healthy foods. However, as I moved to college, I must rely on myself to maintain a healthy diet as I would at home. This Is challenging because most of us college students are too focused on classes and school work, and don’t know how to cook or simply don’t have the time for it. This leads to easy mac, ramen noodles, and microwavable ravioli. Nutrition is a big health factor when it comes to college
Going back to school means getting all the back to school gadgets and this means buying them. The needs have changed now and the back to school gadgets does not only involve transformer trappers, notebooks and eraser heads, but it also involves E Readers, I Pads, laptops, net books and other gadgets. These things are now the new requirements of the students. With the costs getting higher day by day, it is crucial for the parents, college students and teens to think in a smarter way about how to shop. Instead of paying too much money, think of ways you can save money and still buy the things you need.

College doesn’t have to cost a lot of money thanks to scholarships you can get most of your college funds already taken care of. Also to help cut the cost down you can save money by not paying for a dorm and just travel to and from school instead of paying for that extra money for a dorm. To help with getting a scholarship you should do scholarship searches as early as possible to be able to get scholarships to the college of your choice. Also you can just attend a community college but that would most likely be a last resort.
Coming into college I was pretty calm overall, but once I arrived I started to think more in depth about what all is changing in my life. I had always heard how much harder classes are in college and how some people have to completely give up on their social lives just to keep a consistent GPA. I started to get nervous that once the ball started rolling, I wouldn't have time for any activities or relationships outside of class. I thought that even if I somehow was able to manage enough free time away from school that I wouldn't be able to find friends with the same personality or beliefs as me. The first few days coming in, all I could think about was how isolated and overwhelmed I would become. Even though it's only the second week of class, I have already been able to calm my nerves. I have realized that the classes can be difficult, but I can manage my time to keep my grades up and still have enough time to meet people. Once I realized that I do have and need time outside of classwork to relax, I noticed the wide variety of people I have been able to meet and how even though many of them are different from me that doesn't mean we can't become friends.

I have prepared myself for college by taking my academics very seriously and understanding its importance on the outcome of life. During my sixth grade year, I was invited to attend the North Carolina Math and Science Education Network at Elizabeth City State University. As a senior, I am still enrolled in this program and it has been a true enhancement to my academics as I have been selected to attend the State wide Competition every year and have been awarded a placement in Science and Math. My enrollment in college classes beginning my junior year in high school has helped me with increasing my writing and reading experiences. Honors English classes forecasted my development of a strong ethic in this subject as well as excelling in the required standardized testing for English. My Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores also show my hard work and dedication to school and my coursework.
As a current college student heading into my final year, I believe I would have some knowledge on this subject. A student will need many things to graduate college, most come from within yourself. But these things you can go and purchase at your local mall or shopping center or find around your home or hometown. First, you WILL need a laptop and not a desktop computer. Also, make sure your computer has Wi-Fi. It is the age of technology and almost every Professor is going digital. You will need to be able to write, print or submit a paper on the fly and laptop is the
It is the dream of everyone to join college with the hope of getting a better tomorrow and a foundation for them to make it in life.
