They have Girl Scout troops and branches all over the United States. There are also similar programs all over the world, for example, there are Girl Guides in Europe. I think that Girl Scouts has a big impact on the world. According to GSHH, “Girl Scouts are more likely than non-Girl Scouts to embrace new experiences and overcome failure, to self-identify as leaders and take on leadership roles, to practice resiliency and persist through challenges, and have stronger female networks of all ages, just to name a few.” Girl Scouts creates strong girl leaders, which is what we need. We need to teach young girls that they are just important as any other person or gender. Girl Scouts also teaches girls to clean up after themselves and make the world a better place, and this will have a big impact on years to come as these young leaders grow up and help the world improve. According to the WAGGGS official website, “The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts reaches 10 million girls and young women in 146 countries across our five regions.”. It is an anti-bullying club at our school. We talk to the elementary kids about bullying and other things that go along with that. We were able to hold a food drive, coat drive and money drive that have been very impactful to the community. We also were able to go to the salvation army a couple of times to help them during the holidays. Rachel’s Challenge is something that I am very proud to be apart of because it helps kids everyday.

Why do you want to be a Diamond Darling and what past experiences qualify you to become a member of this organization?

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is a nonprofit after-school program for the inner-city youth of America. The organization was founded in 1860, and is still in existence and evolving in the modern day. The company exist throughout all 50 U.S. states throughout the country and is considered to be a fun and safe place for children to learn and grow while having fun. The national headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia. However, there also service centers located in Chicago and Dallas. The BGCA serves more than 4 million youth in over 4,100 facilities throughout the country (http://bgca.org/). These facilities include more than 1,140 independent organizations and national organizations, the headquarters, service centers, development programs and services, etc. According to the President of the BGCA, Spillett (2016) claims that there are more than 50,000 employees and 200,000 volunteers that work for the BGCA. The BGCA is a large organization; however there is a limited number of workers in head leadership positions.

Throughout this paper, I will discuss the importance of giving positive alternatives to the youth of America. We’ll talk about the roots of the “Boys and Girls Club of America” and the successful tactics used to promote positive outlook and guide kids onto the successful path. Members of the National Honors Society have always been revered for the work they do in our community. In a small town like Fenton, volunteer work has a larger, more personal impact. It would be a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to the community as an NHS member. An individual with an extensive amount of volunteering develops a multitude of valuable traits. One important element to portray when representing a community service group is selflessness. When helping a town, a person must have the ability to put the needs of others ahead of their own. She learns that women can and should look at themselves as equal to men. She learns what makes a bad relationship and a what makes a good one. She also learns what can bring a community together and what can tear it apart. It is through these different lessons that Janie starts to figure out who she is. these are all factors that help shape her identity.

The western United States has always been associated with masculinity, especially during the late 19th century and early 20th century. From the mining operations to harsh winters in the mountains, it is mostly men out on the west. Since the west was not as organized and stable as it is today, it was general consensus that only me could handle these conditions. Due to the lack of credit given to women during this era, I found it appropriate to choose a woman of impact to Colorado. This woman specialized in the field of philanthropy. She did many things for the state of Colorado. In 1987 she was inducted to the Women’s Hall of fame as a result of her work during the late 1800s. this woman is proof that woman can have just as much impact as a man. Not only was she a woman, but a Jewish woman. She was part of a minority. One would think these two factors would bring her impact to a halt; that was not the case.

I am happy to write on behalf of Gabriela Queiroz Miranda to show my support of her National Honor Society application. Gabriela left a lasting impression on me in the three weeks I got to work with her through Notre Dame’s summer leadership program (iLED). She was a leader throughout the whole program and exemplified qualities a leader must have. Gabriela displayed qualities a leader should have: commitment, focus, a positive attitude, confidence, accountability, and approachable. As a former NHS member, I recommend Gabriela for the society as she excels both inside and outside of the classroom.

The Charity Organization Society was based in the scientific movement of organizations. Workers believed that charity work needed more definition and organization and that charity should be focused more on individual need rather than as a whole population. Focusing on individual need was intended to improve relief operations while making resources more efficient. They also intended to eliminate public outdoor relief. With the promotion of more organization and efficiency the new Charity Organization Societies were born. As a non-profit organization, our company has been profoundly doing well in helping raise money for families. Being with an organization which is committed to providing assistance to families in impoverished towns is very generous. Although, there is a concern I would like to address regarding using certain data we are using in our annual reports.The company uses pie charts to display data and prefers one type of pie chart over the other. I feel that we should use the pie chart which demonstrates the percentages.
