Sasenarine Tomby Graduation Speech 2011 Good afternoon [name of members of the head table], teachers, parents, students, fellow graduates and distinguished guests. I must first and foremost thank God for this blessing and honor to stand before you today as Valedictorian of the Class of 2011. Yet, today is not only my day to shine. Every graduate present here is deserving of high praise and recognition and I would like to congratulate each of you on reaching this milestone in life. We are honored and grateful to have you as educators and to say we were once your students. Lastly, I would now like to take this time to thank my family for their endless support and love. Mom, thank you for your encouraging words, your advice, and for always believing in me even at times when I gave up on myself. Just as you have stood by me and helped me accomplish so many goals, I hope to be able to fulfill many of your dreams. To my little sister, thank you for keeping the child inside of me alive, for always finding a way to put a smile on my face, and for your honesty. Last but not least, I am proud to share this moment with my father, thank you for your support, guidance, and for the lifelong values and morals you have instilled in me, a person whose wisdom and spirituality I deeply admire. I am extremely grateful and thankful to be the first child in my family that my parents will witness graduate from secondary school. To my family, I may not say it enough, but I love you all more than words can express and without your presence in my life, I don’t know where or who I would be. Maya Angelou said, “But nobody, no nobody can make it out here alone” and I think my fellow graduates will agree with me when I say that this moment would not have been possible for each
First off, I want to say thank you to my parents for supporting me. Mom, Dad, thank you for being there with me during difficult times. You support and understand me, this gives me the strength to continue fight through the challenges in life. Without you being here today and by my side, I would have given up. Next, I want to thank the administration. You have all contributed to making this school run smoothly but also have allowed us to have a good time. I, as many others, have enjoyed the monthly walks and fundraising activities, the cultural fashion show and the fun and exciting cultural festival with the live steel bad and African drummers. These are some experiences that some students have never been exposed to. Therefore, thank you for bringing new and exciting initiatives to PS/MS124. Mrs. Babb, you are a very loving and an easy person to talk to. You have made so many positive changes to PS124, one of which is allowing us middle schoolers to have student council. I would also like to thank my teachers, for sharing their knowledge. You have taken the time to explain assignments, make class interesting, challenge us beyond our knowledge, and inspire not just me, but all of us. I want to Mr. Heaton for granting me the position of secretary for National Junior Honor Society last year. This was a great opportunity and that allowed me to play a key role in the National Junior Honor
First off I would like to congratulate everyone for making it this far. I would like to thank my classmates, my friends, and my family. I especially want to thank our teachers, for always supporting and encouraging us. If it weren’t for the people who support us daily, we would not be where we are today. I would like everyone to turn to their families, and teachers to thank them for all that they have done for us.

Good evening, thank you for having me here. I’m honored that I have been chosen to give my commencement speech and I’m glad to be here. First off, I’d like to thank the superintendent, also thanks to the administration, staff, the graduating class, and to all of you attended here today. The next generation, gathered here today, I’d like to tell you something very important that (I hope) you will consider sometime in the future. life is extremely difficult and challenging unless you work for your dreams and what you wish to achieve. Reach for the sky, because nothing is impossible unless you make it. I wish I had done certain things to my best ability, but that is in the past and time stops for no one. The future is what you should look forward
