As the spring semester quickly approaches, many of us have one thing on our mind: formal sorority recruitment. While the overall idea of wearing high heels and small talking for an entire day can seem intimidating, here are some tips and tricks to make this week worth it. Start each morning with a strong breakfast (& lots of coffee!) Our moms have kindly reminded us our entire lives that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" It really is, though! Having a well-rounded meal with fruits, veggies, and protein will give you the energy that you need to endure long days full of parties! Talking all day is a lot more work than you would imagine it would be. Staying up until 2 AM messaging in your PNM Rho Chi group chat will leave you feeling exhausted in the morning. With an early wake up call and hair, make up, and an outfit to choose, mornings can seem like a rush to get out of the door. Plan ahead and make some easy breakfasts to grab and go! Some favorites are yogurt and fruit parfaits with granola, overnight oats, acai bowls, and pancakes with peanut butter for extra protein! A healthy breakfast and caffeine boost will give you the energy that you need and a mood boost for your first parties of the day. Though you 're not typically allowed to bring purses into a party, pack snacks, a water bottle, and some mints for later in the day. You 'll have moments where your stomach is growling mid-conversation, or you 're patiently waiting to be offered a glass of
My passion for my sorority grew exponentially during the fall of my sophomore year. Recruitment season had started and I was meeting loads of sweet, freshman girls. I loved getting to know the new faces, showing them the ropes and making them feel at home. In high school, I had never been close friends with underclassmen, so the experience of being an older “guide” was new for me. I loved it and I loved my freshmen friends.
Joining a sorority is not just four for years but for life. Going through a week-long process of meeting thousands of girls can be intense, overwhelming but intriguing and exciting as well. Recruitment to many is known as a terrifying process where girls come from all over with matching shirts, bright smiles and dreams that at the end of the week they will receive the white envelope that incases the 4x6 card with the sororities crest inviting them into their sisterhood. By preparing ahead of time, which includes building a resume, searching for recommendation letters and extensive research on each chapter, sorority recruitment doesn’t have to be an intimating process.
My most meaningful accomplishment is finding my inner leader and learning to believe in myself. For many years I was extremely shy and I let this deter me from enjoying activities outside my comfort zone. Growing up I never really believed enough in myself to find my leadership abilities. It was not until early in my college career that I began to truly see my potential. My freshman year of college I began to open myself up to the possibilities around me by joining clubs on campus and making connections with those around me. The one organization that truly changed my outlook forever was Phi Beta Chi National Sorority. Within my sisterhood I began to open up and see myself as the leader I knew I could be. Once I had this new found outlook I
The Truth: Sorority recruitment is a very exact process, one that requires the PNMs (Potential new members) to meet all of the chapters on campus. Chapters also have a "total" number of girls they can give bids to. Sororities also recruit based on values, not based on who can get the most boys. Sisterhood means that the other girls in your chapter don't care what you look like, and your chapter can still be extremely successful even if you don't go out every weekend and have the boys all over you. Believe it or not, sorority women can be happy and thrive, even when they aren't the "hottest."
Sorority recruitment at LSU is a long, strenuous process. Rushing involved a week long of many hectic days starting with the first round, Ice Water. Not knowing

I've been trying to follow up with Savanna for 2 weeks now and finally was able to speak to her yesterday. What she offered as a solution was very disappointing. She told me that she spoke to the eBoard members prior to Spring Break and this was quite alarming to me because I was treated so poorly at the last General Meeting. There is no statue of limitations in regards to this matter and being told by Savanna, "look, there are only 2 weeks in the semester" gives a great impression that this serious matter is just not serious enough from the perspective of Student Life.

My target area began as a focus on eating more in general. The food available at PSP was not always ideal, many times the food was either unhealthy or there simply weren’t enough options that I enjoyed. As a result, I noticed that my weight began to significantly decline and I desperately wanted to allay this problem. After completing my log sheets over three weeks, I came to the realization that the bulk of my missed meals came in the morning. Breakfast. The most important meal of the day. This is something we all have heard. Eat your breakfast so the day can begin right. Breakfast is indeed a vital part of the day. However, I personally don’t care for breakfast food, I never have. Grits, oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc. have never been my “thing”. I think it is the textures that get to me, or it could just be that I dread getting up earlier than I have to. I am not a morning person at all. Most of the time I just skip breakfast. I know overall that is not a good thing. I would soon learn just how important it is not to skip this meal one bitterly cold winter morning.
