The Hawthorne study used would have been referred to as the field study because the data gathered was taken from groups of employees within a workplace environment. The field study also looks at how groups and individuals behavior has an impact on the overall effectiveness of the organization and being able to gain the knowledge to improve the behavior. The Hawthorn studies focused on the employee’s conditions when their working environment was surrounded by positive conditions and they enjoyed the interaction with their coworkers.
