Track 1 residency really taught me so much about myself. We had so much time to ask questions about how to counsel people. We did some relaxing exercises, and we had the chance to learn about other people. I learned that it is important to be aware of how you are handling what you are experiencing in that very moment. This was a time to ask questions, and to learn how to ask people questions. In track 2, I hope to further enhance my skills what learning how to use the skills that I already have.
The Goals that I would like to set for track two are:
1. Get comfortable with asking more questions. I would like to get more comfortable with asking questions to people. To do this, I need to think of the question, and understand about my intent for

Learning more about group therapy. Group therapy can be very beneficial to a community. Group therapy can help many people all at one time. This is something that I would like to learn more about and get more comfortable while working in groups. I chose this goal because groups can be extremely effective. This is something that I would like to learn more about to get more experience in, so that I can lead group counseling in practice.
3. Another goal is to learn more about patient care. I am interesting in learning about how each therapist works with patients. The best way that I can do this is to observe counselors as they handle patients. I do not know that this will be handled at residency. However, I can still observe how clients work with clients. This can be beneficial in practice. I chose this goal because residency would be the perfect place to gain this knowledge while we observe counselors working with their clients.
4. There is one more goal that I would like to build on. Therapists network with other therapists. When therapists know the strengths that other therapists have, therapists can network with other therapist and refer to other therapists if they need to. So, my goal is to simply to get to know other people and begin networking with others. We all need others! We need others for assistance, guidance, and to seek help of topics that we do not know. Networking can be such a powerful tool that we all have to share our strengths with other people so that together

During residency, I learned so many things about myself. As I matriculate through school, I have been thinking about my goals. My goal is to ultimately own my own practice. Individuals attend group therapy for different reasons. Some may attend because they are mandated and others may attend because they are wanting help. Nevertheless, a screening process must take place to properly select individuals for the appropriate group. However, there is still a chance that the individual doesn’t make it for the duration of the group. While employed at New Horizons Behavioral Health REACH program as a psychotherapy rehabilitative group leader, I have experienced a few to drop out. Initially, I thought it was something I did. Later I found out it was the individuals’ personal choice to leave the group. According to Yalom, “ Clients will fail in group therapy if they are unable to participate in the primary task of the group,
The opportunities that residents get to hone their clinical skills through a variety of clinical settings and excellent supervision, the broad approach that the program takes
These training programmes advanced my knowledge on a lot of issues that health professionals and residents face in a care setting. This taught me how much responsibility the nurse and carers have in order to provide high standard care to the patients. With experience I will use my knowledge and skills have gained on clinical placements, by following principles of practice such as confidentiality, respect, how to deal abuse, incidents, recording documents and many more issues that take place in the work place. As a student I have learned how to prepare and plan to meet the deadlines.

Be able to identify and understand situations/feelings that arise in therapy sessions pertaining to self-of-therapist and enhance my professionalism. My professional development goals have been established along the DPT program. As I was taking classes I had defining moments where I could clearly see my career direction moving forward. I have become more conscious about the importance of pursuing high quality continuing education courses and professional development opportunities, beneficial not only to me, but to the over ninety therapists working at our practice and the 20+ Level II students coming for their clinical internships at our agency every year. As we all have been instructed, we are accountable for learning and change (American Physical Therapy Association, 2012). Also, under the core value of professional duty, we are called to mentor others to
My experiences have allowed me to learn about the industry and about the profession. I have learned about the variety of therapy techniques, equipment, and practices used. I have been able to experience the different techniques that therapists use to communicate, motivate, and interact with a diverse population. These experiences have allowed me to gain knowledge that I will be able to use in my career. Additionally, seeing clients connect with their therapists, set goals, and build their self-confidence to improve as they progress with therapy has been motivating for me.
My bachelor’s in communication has brought forth the significant role that interpersonal communication plays in life which I intend to embody in my nursing profession. At Mount St. Joseph, I aim to broaden my knowledge and experience as well as to receive training that will allow me to be an effective caregiver. Upon completion of the MAGELIN, I intend to successfully pass NCLEX-RN and find full-time position that will allow me to translate my theoretical and clinical knowledge into patient-centered care. My core professional values integrate the need for empathy and ethical conduct while evidence-based practice is necessary in effective
This group allowed me to be a member of a group and to experience how a group setting actually works. Group can be very beneficial as therapy for some clients. Some members may not have anyone and group therapy will provide that support system for them to have. Personally, I do have friends, family, parents, and a sibling. However, sometimes it is difficult to express to them what exactly is going on in my mind. This group gave me a feel of what some members actually feel in groups. It makes you feel less alone and like it is okay to have the thoughts that you have. Sometimes your family and friends do not know how to relate to you, but a group therapy can help you feel that acceptance and bond. I learned a lot from this group process. It is important to be able to trust, have open communication, to be a supporter and lend an encouraging ear to someone else. It not only will help other members, but also will help you as a member and individual personally grow and gain better perspective and coping skills for themselves.
Ms. Crockett said that one of the most challenging issues in group therapy is the client who literally talks too much. The facilitator must be good at setting boundaries to redirect the focus politely to another group member.
My first goal is having a better vocabulary and wide range of words I can use while in conversations as well
