ABSTRACT
This project deals with the calculation of the energy meter billing with prepaid facility by using Smartcard based on the load consumption with GSM communication . The microcontroller calculates the rupees that will be consumed by the loads as per the amount inserted in prepaid recharge card ,which acts as input and displays it on the 16X2 LCD interfaced with the microcontroller. This project thesis is also covers the recharge option on every insert of card in smart module and the power is continued to process. This project is powered by an on-board power supply takes the ac power and converts it into dc power that is fed to on-board devices and integrated circuits.
2. INTRODUCTION TO EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
What is Embedded system?
An Embedded System is a combination of computer hardware and software, and perhaps additional mechanical or other parts, designed to perform a specific function. An embedded system is a microcontroller-based, software driven, reliable, real-time control system, autonomous, or human or network interactive, operating on diverse physical variables and in diverse environments and sold into a competitive and cost conscious market.
An embedded system is not a computer system that is used primarily for processing, not a software system on PC or UNIX, not a traditional business or scientific application. High-end embedded & lower end embedded systems. High-end embedded system -
Nowadays, with the influence of free economy system, large numbers of competition are bring out because of huge numbers of companies, such as Pepsi cooperation and The Coca-Cola Company. Two product of these two companies, pepsi cola and coca-cola always have competitions in the market place for its very same types of products. This report will describe the background of PepsiCo and its competitor The Coca-Cola Company, besides, the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats will be identify, SWOT analysis will also be discuss and explain in this report.
Operating System is a main computer program that communicates with the hardware to help the computer run.
An Information system (IS) is a system made of computers and people that processes or explains information. The term is also sometimes used in more restricted senses to refer to only the software used to run a computerised database or to refer to only a computer. The key to successful businesses success, is from the heart of the business which is ran by information systems. Hotels are no exception to this, hotels around the world have adopted information systems to make sure their businesses run as smoothly as possible. Information systems are referred to within the hotel sector as HIS (Hotel information systems).
System software (systems software) is computer software designed to operate and control the computer hardware and to provide a platform for running application software. System software can be separated into two different categories, operating systems and utility software. The operating system (OS) is the best-known example of system software. The OS manages all the other programs in a computer.
Operating system is a part of computer system software program. The operating system acts as an interface between hardware and software. It contains instruction that work together to coordinate every file, device, main memory and processing time. It includes 4 essential subsystem managers which is memory manager, processor manager, device manager and file manager.
An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs. First let’s look at most commonly used operating systems, like…
An operating system has the ability to manage both the hardware and software of a computer or device. It is the most important part of a computer and controls every action and task which is carried out. Computers and devices require both hardware and software for it to operate. Without one, you will not have a functioning machine.
An operating system is an interface between a user and the hardware of a computer. It is just a set of software that manages computer hardware and controls the operations on the computer. Operating system is the base of the application programs because they cannot contact the hardware directly. It does not do any work itself, it just provides an environment in which the other programs on a computer can run. Therefore, when a user enters or sends a command the operating system makes sure that the command is executed or not, if not it displays a message explaining the error. Without operating system a computer is of no use it is just a metal block.
“Operating system, n. The low-level software that supports a computer 's basic functions, such as scheduling tasks, controlling
• Closed system: has no connections with other systems • Open system: interfaces and interacts with other systems
A set of instructions that cause a computer to perform one or more tasks. The set of instructions is often called a program or, if the set is particularly large and complex, a system. Computers cannot do any useful work without instructions from software; thus a combination of software and hardware (the computer) is necessary to do any computerized work. A program must tell the computer each of a set of minuscule tasks to perform, in a framework of logic, such that the computer knows exactly what to do and when to do it. See also Computer programming.
An operating system is a system software that manages and control all interaction between a computer hardware and software. There are several types of operating systems, for example, multi-user, multitasking, single user and more. The first ever created OS date back in the 50’s. As computer and technology progress over time operating system kept evolving. Among the commonly used operating systems of today is Linux, a Unix-like type of OS. Linux creation begins in 1991 as a software kernel and part of a small project developed by Linus Torvalds, a student from a University in Finland. Under GNU (general public license), the software was available as a free and open source and gave everyone the right to access, change and modify its original design. Because of the way it is designed it can run on multiple platforms such has Intel, Alpha and more.
This project was coordinated by our senior associate professor Mr. D. Krishna, under his guidance I have finished my project.
I would also like to thank Mr. Kapil Munjal, Mr. Rajan Goyal, Mr. Amit Arora and Mr. Rashmikant Mohanty for their useful advice and expert guidance, which helped me in completing this project successfully.
The project “GSM BASED VEHICLE THEFT CONTROL SYSTEM” deals with the design & development of a theft control system for automobiles which is being used to prevent / control the theft of a vehicle. The developed system makes use of an embedded system based on GSM technology. An interfacing mobile is also connected to the microcontroller, which is in turn, connected to the engine.
