Halloween experiment “The day has come” I thought to myself while lying comfortably in one of the three couches in the living room as I monologue. I lay there well imprinted in my own couch. The very fact it was Halloween somehow for some unknown reason gave me the motivation to go, and join along with the many others in trick or treating. “Oh wait right…“ I said abruptly as the realization hit me. Now there were two lingering complications that nullified me from actually celebrating the Halloween spirit. One of them was probably being too old to even go trick or treating. The other being that I was currently not in possession of any costume whatsoever which basically defeated the intention of even going trick or treating. I sat up …show more content…
The familiar sound of metal clacking was a sort of trigger for him. Whatever reasons he had for retreating into his doghouse was apparently thrown out the window, as I watched him make a 180-degree turn half way already in his doghouse. “Well that was easier than I thought...” I thought to myself as my still very much clueless companion was eagerly jumping on my leg hoping I would take him out for a walk. Now for the first step to be in effect was going to prove a bit difficult with a dog that can hardly sit still considering how energetic he usually is, especially with the walking leash in my hand. I knelt down and placed the leash aside using my free hand to attempt to keep the dog still as I also simultaneously attempted to put him in the costume. If I were to describe this it would be like trying to wrestle an alligator or ride a bull even though which I never did… But still he’s a small poodle how can it be this difficult to stuff him in a costume?! “Dog please comon don’t do this to me! You always do this to me!” I exclaimed at the dog in a slight joke-ful tone, knowing that he doesn’t really understand what I’m saying as I continuously struggle. “Alright that’s it” I say as I quickly stood up as I lift him off the ground knowing this would make his squirming lessen. I slightly dug my fingers into his spongy dirt covered fur to make sure he wouldn 't squirm out of my grip. “Are you done squirming?” I asked as I squinted my eyes
Every year millions of kids get dressed up, knock on doors, and beg for candy. With Halloween just around the corner, you all are probably wondering where this strange tradition came from. Every year I have experienced this holiday and have done research on this topic. According to a 2014 Smithsonian.com article, stated by Natasha Geiling, in just one year Americans spent over six billion dollars on candy, costumes, and ghoulish decor in anticipation for Halloween. Many people think all Halloween is about dressing up and going trick or treating but there's more to it than that. The roots and variations from all around are what makes Halloween what it is today. In order to understand this holiday, we will go into the history of Halloween, how it's celebrated around the world, and superstitions revolving it.
It is present day in a small town known as Salem, MA. Its getting closer and closer to Halloween. I see the leaves are beginning to change, the nights are getting cooler, the sounds of tractors in the field harvesting crops, the sight of pumpkins everywhere decorating houses with faces and designs carved into them surround the neighborhood. Salem, MA is a very quiet town where everyone knows everyone and everyone gets along, for the most part.
“Wait for me,”I said dashing towards my best friend, Megan and her mom, crunching all the leaves beneath my feet and trying to catch my breath.I will admit that Halloween is phenomenal but do you know what the best part is? Trick-or-treating.Ever since I came to know about Trick-or-Treating, I want to do it since it is my first time. Not only do I like Trick-or-treating because you get to have a lot of candy but also because it is a reunion of my friends and me, the cold weather gives me chills, and I get to see a lot of scary and beautifully decorated houses even some with fake graves.
Finally…. Halloween was here. I have waited all year for this day. My all time favorite holiday. School was finally over and I slipped on my costume and jetted out the door. I was ready for the spooky scares, chilly air, and crazy dares that happen on halloween night. My friend Kayla and I walked to each door chanting “trick or treat”, but one house appeared to be kind of peculiar. The house was big, white, and the tiles were falling off. Nobody dared to step on the property of the house.
The doorknob turned and a tall man in black clothing stood glaring at them. The two kids gazed up at him shivering in their shoes. Jesse elbowed his brother forwards. “Ummm ahh trick or ...... treat?” Waylon said.
Each year that went by I began to notice a difference in the amount of candy that I collected during Halloween. The first year I went trick-or-treating, I came home with a bulging pillow sack full of delicious candy. Every house in the neighborhood would be brightened with Halloween decorations and
At, first it seemed to be all fun and games, but then suddenly until the door opens without anyone touching it. After that occurred, Raheem whispered “what's going on,why are we here and we should probably just leave and do this another time”. “Today is Halloween shouted Travis, Darkness, Spooky and frightfulness is in the air, this is the time when the
The voice is deep, "I didn't know it would be this easy. You practically fell in front of me to get me. I ain't saying no to a hot creature begging for a crazy night." I can feel the smirk form along this dog's face. I shove him off me, or attempt to. His weight is unbearable compared to my arm muscle, instead I had simply shifted him so that his face was on my chest. His eyes lit up, just as my anger did. As if it was an instinct, my knee jerks up and
On a dark and creepy day on Halloween night some kids were going trick or treating but not all of them. Except the three Jameson kids who decided to stay home this year. The oldest boy’s name is Tommy, the middle child is a girl and her name is Sara lastly the youngest boy’s name is Tyrone. Before the permission from their mom, she has warned them about the missing kids who didn't decide to participate in Halloween last year who went off to do whatever they wanted and were missing so she is hopeful that they are not planning on going anywhere this halloween. An hour passed by and they realized that it was only 11:00 and Halloween wasn’t over yet. On the other hand, they were not even receiving candy so Tommy has come up with an idea that instead of staying in the house empty handed; he has something else in mind. Maybe we can sneak out the house and go to the haunted mansion by the gloomy corn field. Sarah did not agree, but it will be better than staying in the house. Tyrone agrees with anything but he just wants a piece of candy before the night is over.
The two deer stopped for a second. One after the other they turned around and started walking back into the woods. After seeing them start to leave, the dog went wild. He yanked me down the hill, catching my jacket on the pole to the right. I yelled for him to stop but it seemed he was in a blinding rage. I felt like he was on the verge of dragging me down the hill into the woods if I didn’t let got. Then I realized what he was doing to my brand new jacket. I began pulling the leash back with all my might and once the deer took the last step back into the woods, Dino calmed
One day a little girl that lived in the neighborhood had been murdered. So they can’t go trick or treating alone and they had to go in a group with a parent
“Oh, that’s just like my dog!” said Pat. “She’s always dreaming she’s chasing rabbits or something like that. She starts kicking and making little barking sounds; it’s the cutest thing. She’s only a terrier, but sometimes I swear she thinks she’s a mastiff.”
It wasn't until Ashley pointed out a light down the road did we start to notice the sound of barking. I was so nervous that it was a guard dog to notice Abby escaping my grip. She was running to the light, hollering at the top of her lungs, 'puppy'.
“Grrr, woof, grr.” Oh no this wasn’t good, the dog was back! But it was not behind the fence, rather with an owner holding its leash! “I’d figured it’s about time I introduce you to my pit bull Stella she’s a sweetheart isn’t she?” an elderly woman said to
“So kids, every Halloween, it is said that her ghost, roams the empty hallways of this very school, searching for another female student to take her place.” The students were now on the edge of their wooden seats, eyes wide, listening to every word Mr. Morris said. All of a sudden the loud bell breaks the silence, making each one of them jump.
