Even though there can be better centers, Travis Frederick is one of the best centers in the NFL because he has so much experience as a center and makes a big impact on the Dallas Cowboys offence. Political advocacy organizations have historically played a big part in securing political rights for minority groups in Western Liberal Democracies. Whether we look to the now infamous Boston Tea Party to the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, we observe the importance of political organizations in their quest to ensure equitable rights for the people whom they represent. In context of the early twentieth century, the most prominent group to represent African-American’s in the United States was that of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The NAACP, as it is more commonly called, was founded on February 12, 1909 by a mixed group of individuals including but not limited to Ida B. Wells, W. E. B. DuBois and Archibald Grimké with the goal of creating a civil rights organization that would help assist in organizing for civil rights for blacks. Gregory Mears Sr., my grandfather, was born on October 20, 1945 in Baltimore Maryland. His mother Myrtle Elizabeth Dalton Bailey and father Henry Saile Bailey were also born in Baltimore Maryland. Growing up Gregory had seven brothers and sisters Eddie, Myrtle, Matthew, Del, Mildred, Melvin, and Marie all of which were born in Baltimore Maryland. Although at the moment the occupation for Myrtle is unknown, Henry worked as steel worker for Armco Steel. Gregory left high school under the direction of his mother to get a job. He left the twelfth grade leaving only a few credits short of his diploma to become a steel worker for Bethlehem Steel. Sam Houston, one of the most illustrious political figures of Texas, but that is not all he was. Along with politics he excelled in being a business man, the study of law, a solider to the Texas army, and a family man. But how could a single man play such a significant role in the building foundations to the state of Texas? On the cold, snowy evening of March 5th at approximately 9:00 pm, a group of local colonists gather by the Boston Customs House. British Redcoat Private Hugh Montgomery is on duty guarding the Customs House. The group of colonists are angry, and the number of colonists casually start to increase. Dr Herbert Vere Evatt was born on the 30th of April 1894 in East Maitland, NSW to parents publican John Evatt and his wife Jeanie Evatt. “Bert” as he was nicknamed, was the fifth of eight sons. John, Bert’s father died when Herbert was seven leaving him to play a major role in the upbringing of his three younger brothers. Roger Sherman (April 19, 1721 - July 23, 1793) was lawyer, statesman, and one of the Found Fathers of the United States. Sherman was born into a farm family in Newton, Massachusetts near Boston. When he was two years old his family moved to Stoughton. When he was young his education did not extend pass his father's library and grammar school. Also he had a Harvard-educated parish minister that took him under his wing. In 1743 his father died, so him and his family moved to New Milford, Connecticut on foot. Topeka Shiner a small minnow (family Cyprinidae) has been on South Dakota endangered list since January of 1999. Topeka Shiner is a small minnow that was found in a river near Topeka, Kansas in 1959. This minnow has a shiny silver color and has a black colored stripe that runs along the side of the body. According to Game fish and Parks (GFP), the shiner grows to about 1 to 2 inches but can get as big as three inches. Small aquatic insects, especially midges make up a large portion of the Topeka shiner’s diet.

What do you imagine when you think of Kansas? When I think of Kansas, I think of a very dry, flat state with lots of farming. Just because we are not the most popular state in the United States, it does not mean that we do not have cool history. Most people do not realize that Kansas has had some very successful people. One individual that inspired me is Fred Harvey.

In the eyewitness account encountered by Dr. Elwood Harvey, he saw a brutal auction of slaves in front of him. He saw how the slaves were clueless when walking in but when they realized it was an auction they all panicked. Walter Schirra is an remarkable astronaut, who, along with his other remarkable missions, was a commander of Apollo 7 (one of the most succesful and famous space missions in space history). Before he became an astronaut, he was a test pilot for the Navy; when he first learned about the Mercury mission (which would be his first space mission), he wasn't that interested in going, which I found very interesting. But as he heard more about the idea, he became more and more interested in going. I thought this related to me a lot, because I have many instances where when I first hear about something, I'm not interested at all. I chose this entry because, I strongly felt I would benefit from learning more about when to use the two terms. Much like other people, I use both of these words a lot when I’m speaking or writing a paper. I believe both terms are very common in a lot of writings, because they are fundamental when making a comparison. In my opinion, it is very tricky to know when it is appropriate to use either one though. A lot of times, they both allow a sentence to make sense. These two simple words have so much meaning. For example, we learned in elementary school that these two words can represent simile sentences, which I think give even more of an importance to them.

effrey “Jeff” Corwin was born in the small town of Norwell, Massachusetts on July 11, 1967.
