Electronic cigarettes (EC) are dominating the community at a faster rate. There are some users in some parts of the world such as the United States and Europe. Electronic cigarettes are powered by batteries. The nicotine released EC is limited as compared to tobacco cigarettes (Farsalinos et al. 1). Additionally, it lowers addiction to smoking. EC has extraordinary feature making it be the best substitute for tobacco, and it is harmless to health. The liquid that is used in the EC contains the certain substance, for instance, propylene glycol, and glycerol, nicotine, and flavorings. There are some varieties of flavors: sweets, fruits, and nuts. Similarly, the flavors added are compounds of foods that have been recommended by health organizations. …show more content…
It was developed due to enhanced technology in batteries. The battery provides enough energy to vaporize the liquid. The battery used in the EC cigarettes has a long life span, making the device real and applicable. That is the fundamental principle behind EC. The largest producer of EC is China, and it is the first country where they were first produced (Bates & Gerry 3-4).
The number of users of e-cigarettes is increasing rapidly. For instance, 2.1 million adults use it in Great Britain according to study done for Action on Smoking and Health and 4.2% of adults use it in uniting states about CDC figures (Bates & Gerry 4). The use of EC is spreading to other countries such as Australia. Unfortunately, the use of e-cigarette was banned in Australia by 2013. There are three generations of e-cigarettes: the 1st generation that is similar to normal cigarettes, and 2nd innovation that has features like a pen, and 3rd invention that is similar to a mod (Bates & Gerry

Additionally, other health lobbies said that EC can make people restore to tobacco smoking (McNeill et al. 100). It is true that small amount of nicotine can lead to consumption of more quantities of nicotine. However, some campaigns have been done on the effects of nicotine (Schripp et al. 30). Therefore, anyone taking a large amount of nicotine is doing so at their risk. First, the groups are against prevention measures that are taken to eliminate the risk caused by tobacco. Tobacco contains harmful substances that have diverse effects on health, for instance, it can cause cancer (Schripp et al. 25-25). Additionally, some studies have proved that EC has reduced health risk by 95%. Hence any effort to ban the use of e-cigarettes is posing a major health risk to the population as opposed to the risked caused by EC (McNeill et al.
Electronic cigarettes have been around for about a decade. No one is sure of what havoc they can cause yet because of how new they are in existence. Throughout the past years more and more issues have been arising from this product that was originally assumed to be harmless. Now we are faced with the question are they really as safe as we thought or should increase investigation to see what they are really capable of. So far researchers have discovered many issues with the electronic cigarettes and every month more and more issues begin the surface the air. From explosion to toxic material. These issues will not only affect their
The e-cigarette format, however, does not eliminate concerns regarding public and individual health risks. The World Health Organization has called for e-cigarette usage to be monitored in the same way as more conventional tobacco products,(23) the US FDA is advocating for more research,(24) and there has been a dramatic increase in analyses of the chemical, physiological, psychological and socio-cultural aspects of e-cigarettes.(2-7,9-12,14-21,24-52)
The popularity of e-cigarettes and vapes has grown exponentially within the last couple of years. These two alternatives offer a “safe” way to consume nicotine or just a substitute to regular cigarette smoking. These products omit water vapor instead of tobacco smoke, constructing it as less of a health risk. Nicotine can be added to the mixture to help quit smoking or offer a healthier option to those with nicotine dependence. There has not been widespread research on conventional e-cigarettes, in addition to data on vapes been relatively premature. These smoking devices have not be regulated by the FDA yet, but the FDA has looked into e-cigarettes and its contents (FDA, 2015). Many e-cigarettes that are thought to be free of nicotine, have
The profitable business of electronic cigarettes has raised over $3 Billion dollars annually, vastly spread across over 466 brands which have joined the ordeal. Above all, known as a “gateway drug”, electronic cigarettes have claimed the once-ordinary lives of people, specifically to those who have turned from tobacco cigarettes. What is more, scientists have determined that not enough research has been executed to automatically assume the healthiness of e-cigarettes. Despite this, many have claimed that e-cigarettes, are, and will be the new “healthy” drug, so to speak. Provided that e-cigarettes do not release harmful smoke, they are still not safe for one’s health given that not enough research has been performed on them.
An increasing number of physicians and scientists agree that e-cigarettes are a healthier alternative, and they say these products could end a major health problem. The Royal College of Physicians say, "Electronic cigarettes and other nicotine-containing devices offer massive potential to improve public health, by providing smokers with a much safer alternative to tobacco" (Jen Christensen, sec. 4).
An electronic cigarette, or E-cigarette, is a new form of tobacco product that is increasing in its popularity; it allows one to inhale a vapor in the same way one would smoke a traditional cigarette ("E-cigarettes and Lung Health"). Some people believe that E-cigarettes are better than cigarettes for various reasons, and this belief may be true. These claims do not mean, however, that E-cigs should be welcomed with open arms because of the risks still involved in them. E-cigarettes are dangerous, like tobacco, and their risks should be evaluated being that they are not a good choice for anyone. They should not be made accessible to teens because of the many dangers one can see just with a quick glimpse into E -Cigs. The first red flag one
On the contrary to the general concept and motif behind the production of e-cigarettes, several studies have proven that these electronic devices that were created as an unassailable and riskless alternative to derail and overcome one’s cigarette addiction and dependency, happen to be equally as harmful and destructive as the nicotine infused drug. Maria Mironidou Tzouveleki, Evanthia Tzitzi, and Panagiotis Tzitzis stated “The vapour of e-cig contains toxic and dangerous substances as the smoke of conventional cigarette but in different quantities.” (Mironidou Tzouveleki, Tzitzi, 2015, p. 235.) Ever since e-cigarettes made their debut in the market back in 2003, researches had their doubts and implications about this particular substitutive
Electronic cigarettes, more commonly know as e-cigarettes have taken the 21st century by storm. They are handheld devices that have evolved dramatically since they were first introduced to the U.S. in 2006. They have a variety of models ranging from the traditional cigarettes, to different sizes, shapes, and features. The battery-powered device is not regulated by the FDA and does not use tobacco. Instead they deliver nicotine to the user through the conversion of various chemicals such as nicotine, propylene, glycol, glycerin, and flavoring chemicals in to vapor to be inhaled. The battery on the device heats up to produce the vapor that the user inhales.
About 42 million Americans smoke spirits smoking is one of the leading causes of preventable death in the United States and the health benefits from stop smoking outweigh other smoking interventions. Existing smoking cessation programs have high failure rates if no nicotine replacement is being used, however, smokers who use nicotine replacement therapy or more likely to stop smoking than those without. So that brings us to electronic cigarettes a new growing trend which may prove to be an alternative to current replacement therapy products. In the United States electronic cigarettes are being advertised as a safe alternative to tobacco products, even though they are not currently regulated by the FDA. Although, electronic cigarettes have not been proven as a viable alternative to other smoking cessation products, there is evidence people are using them for nicotine replacement therapy. It is estimated that e- cigarettes have become more prolific than any other traditional NRT product. The goal of this research paper is to look at:
Imagine if there were an alternative to smoking cigarettes. Imagine this alternative could help millions of people quit smoking and comes with only a fraction of the harmful chemicals that cigarettes do. The electronic cigarette or e-cigarette was created in 2003 by a Chinese pharmacist. It works by heating a liquid until it turns into vapor which is then inhaled. Since its creation, it use has grown exponentially worldwide. Its use in the US, however, was not regulated by the FDA until August 2016. This regulation deemed e-cigarette devices to be tobacco products, which means it must comply with all the rules that tobacco products do such as, marketing, labeling and companies must register and comply with FDA regulation. This makes the production
Cigarette has been a topic of debate ever since its existence. Whether it’s the health issues of cigarettes or the negative impact of cigarette advertisement, it has been in our culture for the longest time. Recently, a divergent of cigarette called E-Cig had entered the market and have seen some unexpected success. In 2014, studies showed that electronic cigarette revenue has topped more than 500 million US dollar. With this huge industry appearing out of seemingly nowhere, many people has begun to question its health and safety effects on us, specifically is E-cig better than normal cigarette?
Ever since this new, exquisite device, called E-Cigarettes, made and was bought from stores, it has become really addicting around the United States, especially children and teens. Because of its new abilities, people, mostly teens, thinks that it’s a lot safer to use. But it’s not. Risk factors are still acquired from these cigarettes because they have nicotine gas and other chemicals that causes cancer. Due to legalized tobacco, you have still have to follow the age rule, +18 years old, but teens still buy these products because of their taste and its fastidious abilities.
Electronic cigarettes are devices, which deliver a nicotine containing vapor to the user. This popular new product, is entirely unregulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, with little known public health effects. With no warning labels, most users think that vaping, (inhale/exhale vapor from electronic cigarette), is safe. Originally electronic cigarettes were intended to be used as a device that users would use to help them quite smoking. But instead not only do they keep people hooked on its use, but also appeal to the younger users. Once manufactures started adding flavoring to the e-juice, (liquid substance used in e-cigarettes), many people accused the companies of using these flavors to attract and appeal the teens. Unlike
so popular? By 2013, the major multinational tobacco companies had entered the e-cigarette market. E-Cigarettes are marketed via television, the internet, and print advertisement as healthier alternatives to tobacco smoking, as useful for helping people quitting smoking and reducing cigarette consumption, and as a way to circumvent smoke-free laws by enabling users to “smoke anywhere. Contrary, to the E-cigarette advertising on television and radio is mass marketing of an addictive nicotine product for use in a recreational manner to new generations who have never experiences such marketing. Awareness of e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes trial have at least doubled among both adults and adolescents in several countries from 2008 to 2012. .
E-cigarette is believed to greatly reduce on the health effects associated with tobacco smoking. However, e-cigarette has been criticized as a leading cause of smoking among the youth due to its flavor as well as its novel appearance and campaigns. It is also believed to pose some health risks. Despite such drawbacks, e-cigarette has recently gained a lot of popularity and subsequent growth.
