Coronary Heart Disease (CHD), is when plaque builds up in the arteries in the heart. Being over weight increases the risk of plaque in the heart. The plaque then can eventually lead to heart attacks or even heart failure. Being obese can increase the risk of a person’s blood pressure rising. High blood pressure occurs in the blood flow, and can cause strain on the heart. An individual being overweight or obese can increase the risk of a Stroke, because of the plaque build up in the arteries. Eventually the artery ruptures from the plaque buildup, and a clot could block the blood flow to the brain. Type 2 Diabetes is also a major concern in Americans who are overweight. It has shown that there has been an increase in the number of kids with type 2 Diabetes as well. Diabetes occurs when the body is not able to create insulin on its own. Although people may not die from diabetes it is linked with CHD, strokes, and kidney disease. The American lifestyle is that people are in such a hurry all the time. They do not have time to cook a healthy meal. The increase in pressure thickens the heart muscle, which makes it work harder, while as the heart, muscle thickens the harder it is to contract and relax. This strain on the heart over time could lead to heart failure. High blood pressure is a very common effect obesity has on the body simply because the more a person weighs the blood is being pushed throw the body. Of course, there are medications that can lower high blood pressure, although losing weight for an obese person with high blood pressure is a more recommended remedy. For some citizens, obesity is not a choice, rather genetics, but for the majority of the population, obesity is caused by an unhealthy diet and lazy lifestyle, and for these certain individuals, through a lot of work and discipline, the return to a healthy lifestyle is not as impossible as it may appear.
