Founded by Jack Daniel in his home town of Lynchburg, Tennessee, in 1875, the Jack Daniel’s Distillery is home to probably the most well known brand of whisky in the world. The distillery is located in a hollow known as Stillhouse Hollow, where a natural spring filters through a limestone cliff which removes the iron and makes it perfect for distilling whisky. Jack, born Jasper Newton, was orphaned at a young age and was taken in by a local preacher and moonshiner and it was he who first introduced him to distilling. By 1875, after receiving his inheritance from his father’s death, he purchased the hollow where the distillery is still located today. The famous Jack Daniel’s square shaped bottle was introduced in 1897, with the thought that

After the initial creation of Dr Pepper, Charles Alderton stepped aside to focus on his pharmacy work. He then handed over his creation to Morrison and a beverage chemist named Robert S. Lazenby (History of Dr Pepper). In 1891, Morrison and Lazenby formed Artesian Mfg. & Bottling Company in Waco. Eventually, the firm became Dr Pepper Company (History of Dr Pepper).

Rum was created by distilling sugar on large plantations in the Caribbean Islands. Rum was heavily used as payment, however, in this case it was used for slave workers. Rum is different from beer and wine in the fact that it doesn’t spoil and it also has a much larger alcohol content. Like beer, rum was used for medicine, known to have therapeutic abilities. Sailors drank very watered down versions of rum, known as grog. The popularity in all of the colonies led to New England to begin distilling which also led to wars. The Whiskey Rebellion then occurred, putting a tax on all distilled

Who or what is the first thing that comes to mind when the word whiskey is mentioned? Jack Daniel’s or a fun Saturday night out? Perhaps, but most likely not the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791. This Rebellion resulted from the passage by Congress of an excise tax to be applied to distilled liquor and was led by Pennsylvania farmers. Occurring from 1791 to 1794, the Whiskey Rebellion ended when President Washington sent close to 13,000 soldiers to the relatively small area to stop the protesters.(Page 141) This event is a classic example of the struggle between States’ rights and Federal Authority, which Joseph J. Ellis illustrates in the book Founding Brothers. Even today, the battle of power continues between the States and the Federal Government

How does one person expect to leave an impact on society? Well some people just do, sometimes it just works out like that. Although for Mark Twain he worked vigorously to be remembered. He taught lessons, was extremely wise and now people are fighting for him and his honor, now if that's not leaving an impact than what is? People may say that he only “wrote little books” or “books cannot leave that much of an impact”, they still left an impact on society because they were and still are phenomenal.
Today, the "Coke bottle green" color is nearly as synonymous with the drink as the bottle shape itself.
In 1886, a pharmacist named John Pemberton invented a dark bubbly drink to try out the beverage market. Sold at 5 cents a glass, the drink did not sell well until after Pemberton’s death, selling at nine servings per day. Afterwards, a businessman named Asa G. Candler took the brand and expanded the drink beyond Atlanta, introducing the drink with the famous trademarked contour bottle. Today, Coca-Cola has risen to become one of the most recognized brands in the world. Its beverage, the number one sparkling drink, sells 1.9 billion servings per day on a global scale. This profound success is predominantly due to Coca-Cola’s ability to create a strong brand that the global population can relate to and love.
