In my opinion, Internet killed Television. Ever since 2009 so many things on the Internet have changed. For instance, YouTube has evolved greatly. Before 2009 it was mainly used for uploading videos once or twice for laughs. But now being on YouTube has become a full time job for some. One in particular that almost everyone knows of now is Justin Bieber. YouTube could also be known as something that is Hellenistic because it is something that has spread across the world. As well as so many of the other social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc. In fact, Facebook is often used to keep in touch with people from other countries. Research Question is; What role does YouTube play towards the representation of interracial relationships? What primarily set it apart from the others was its ease of use---people could watch a video by simply hitting the "play" button and post one just as easily by sending an email with an attachment (“Steve Chen and Chad Hurley,” January 5, 2007). The film “ Digital Nation” is an exploration of diverse people's views on digital media, in today's world. Some of the most important topics were on the virtual world, and the pros and cons of technology within different groups like gamers, students, families, teachers, administrators, children, military and businesses, as well as the experience of general people. In the movie, Prof. Sherry Turkle said, “Technology challenges us to assert our human values. Over the past years, social media in particular have spread worldwide; from Facebook to Instagram. There is constantly something new, extra advanced and creative. Many years ago, people gathered around the TV-sets and later on families together with friends met up and watched their favourite shows. Nowadays, due to the availability of low-priced technology as well as various channels and programmes, people lock themselves in a private space watching TV. (Harboe cited in Nicole C.Stephan W.Brenda B.Christine G. 2015). As a result, people have multiple preferences in TV programmes but nowhere to express their opinions. “One-way” communication in television industry is facing a big challenge. Ever since the emergence of humans, the demand for amusement was prevalent and constantly evolving. From watching gladiators brawl in an arena, to attending operas and plays, to channel surfing, people have continually desired to be entertained. Today, there is another alteration that is changing the way people absorb the content that they want. Streaming, the most productive way to receive internet content, has skyrocketed in our society as the internet has become a “universal medium” (Carr 573). It started with Netflix, and then it was adapted by other platforms. More and more people have gravitated towards their phones and computers as outlets for entertainment and news instead of their televisions, causing traditional media to race to conform to the innovative technology (Carr 576-577) of streaming. For example, there are presidential debates that have been live streamed, and are said to be the most popular stream in internet history. Streaming has become a trend that has yet to lose momentum, and has consistently stayed at the top of the consumer food chain.
The worth of media is a very controversial topic. Media has given us the ability to do things in new and creative ways such as how we learn and accomplish our everyday tasks. However, we do not always know how to interpurate this information. The technology available today is constantly impacting and influencing society in tremendous ways. Many of the impacts that are accocated with media are addressed in negative ways, but can be seen from a positive perspective as well. In the current generation, media and its influences can be found everywhere. These influences widely impact today’s adolescents and maturing teenagers because they are still developing into adults. Medias purpose is not only to inform us, but to allow us to mold ourselves in how we want to be perceived online. Also, it allows us easy access to unbelievable amounts of information. Living in an era known as the “information age” is riveting, but what are we suppose to do with all of this new technology and information?
