. There will be times where you have to make spur of the moment decisions and times where you are curing a simple cold. There will be good days, and there will definitely be bad days and just when you think you have seen it all, something new will come up and hit you in the face. Every day is a new learning experience and you have to be ready for it all and very open minded. This field is not for everyone, but if you enjoy working and helping others, this will be a good fit for you. A good way to get to know if a hospital you are applying to is a good fit for you is to look at their mission statement. I chose KU because their mission is exactly what I look for in a hospital. Our mission statement is: “The University of Kansas Hospital will: …show more content…
You are the person spending most of the time with these patients, and sometimes other than the doctor you are the only one in the room with them at times, so it is so important to maintain a positive attitude. It is also important to be able to adapt to change. You will have several different patients each day with different issues that you have to attend to, so you better get ready. There will be patients that you get attached to. You’re going to work with many people of all ages. Sooner or later you’ll meet someone who you just really connect with, but you have to keep in mind why they’re in your care in the first place. They just be extremely ill, or God forbid dying. Although you want to do everything you can to help him or her, you also have to know when it’s time for their family and maybe even yourself to say goodbye. You won’t be able to save everyone, but that’s what becoming a nurse is all about.
Of course becoming a nurse isn’t all about the money. You will be working long hard hours with probably not the pay you would be hoping for, but that is not why we go into this field. We go into this field because we want to help people. You really need to have the desire and passion to want what is best for
Peace Memorial Hospital is a 600-bed, independent, not-for-profit, general hospital located on the southern periphery of a major western city. It is one of six general hospitals in the city and twenty in the county. After doing much research, the Board of Directors has decided that they should open an ambulatory location in the downtown area, to be known as the Downtown Health Clinic (DHC). The clinic will have 4 major objectives: “1. To expand the hospital’s referral base, 2. To increase referrals of privately insured patients, 3. To establish a liaison with the business community by addressing employers’ specific health needs, and 4. To become self-supporting three years after opening” (Kerin
A career in the field of nursing has a wide variety of different positions and is worth the hard work a person puts into it. Nursing is a great career choice option. It’s a career that allows you to help save people’s lives, bring cheer, and comfort to those in need.

From what I've read in in our lecture notes, many departments within the hospital require efficient work flows when it comes to EHR implementation. One really important key component that I learned about was SMART Goals. It is important in any setting in the hospital.
Another thing that draws me towards the career is the flexibility. A nurse is able to obtain a job in almost any state as long as they get the correct license for the state. Also, they are able to work in many different settings. A nurse can work in an office setting where the hours are set and they work a normal eight to five job. They are also able to work in a hospital setting, the hours differ when working at a hospital and some are required to work weekends and holidays. The physical demands for both setting would be different. Hospital settings would require lots of walking from room to room as well as running in certain emergency settings. In either setting though a nurse is required to be on their feet for long periods of time. It is not a job to where you would be stuck behind a desk.

Secondly, a nurse will have great health benefits. In the nursing career, wherever a nurse/doctor decides to work they will more than likely receive health benefits. Dental is even included at most hospitals/clinics. This would mean saving money on healthcare, which everyone would like to be able to do. When a nurse decides to start a family, the spouse and children will also receive healthcare benefits. If
The two values that best describe NSCS would be, people and teamwork. According to the slides “people” means fairness, supportiveness, and respecting individuals. People best fits NSCS because we respect each other’s suggestions and ideas. Also, the voting system we have in place ensures “fairness” for everyone. Team work is the second value which NSCS demonstrates. According to the slides, teamwork means collaboration and cooperation. The E-board collaborates on many different topics whether it be general body meeting ideas or the committees we want to implement into the organization. I believe the family oriented attitude we have makes it easier for everyone to cooperate and listen to one another. People and team work complement one another because without people there isn’t team work. Cooperation and respect within a group of people can make a big difference when decisions need to be made. The collaboration of people can take an idea from something that was just said to an actual thing or
This is one quote that make sense. Nurses do get underpaid for everything they do for people. Being a nurse is not just about the money it's about loving your job and enjoy taking care of people. People that look for the best jobs just for the money won't have much luck most jobs want people that actually care and is able to handle whatever comes their way. A typical day for a nurse is checking in with the patient and record their staus on how they are doing each day.
The purpose of this paper is to talk about University hospitals mission statement, vision values and goals. How I help strengthen my unit's goals by being on a commtty for providing better patient handoff. How my nursing department is decentrialized and how most decisions are based more by my nurse manager than upper management on how to reduce budget cost like cutting newspapers on the floor. the two pros and to cons of the organizations team nursing model. Ways that nursing could strengthen the mission would be is to heal and to teach the sick about their illness.
One needs to be there to comfort them and keep them calm when needed to. Caring for people come with the job of being a nurse. If a person cannot care for the people they are helping, they will not surpass as a nurse. In order to be a nurse, one has to have a great deal of patience. In a single shift, one may have to deal with aggressive patients, angry family members, a grumpy co-worker or supervisor, and even some patients who have many “intestinal accidents.” To get through all this, one needs to keep positive and have a smile on their face.
Nursing, a great pathway to go into it is a fun and learning experience to take because there are many things you can learn that no one might have ever known and just having the opportunity to save someone's life. The average annual salary a registered nurse can make is around $63,000 a year and nurses that do
There are certain characteristics that are very important of being a nurse. Becoming a nurse means to take value of the craft and work. A nurse should see this, as a “calling” and not a typical job that people usually do not value. The choice of becoming a nurse should not be based upon on the income or security, but the purpose that it comes with of becoming a nurse. The purpose of becoming a nurse is to value all human life, and provide accountability, professionalism and compassion to a patient. Part of
A good Statement of Purpose is a combination of thoughts and reasons, and with this belief, I choose to be candid and sincerely honest of who I am and what I plan to become. I have always believed that I have a desire for Medical Management. The way a business enterprise is managed, its specific and practical details have been a source of eternal fascination for me to manage the hospital organization. I have had a strong entrepreneurial streak in me. I have worked as a nursing staff nurse in medical and critical care department and also a team member and team leader in patient welfare and various organizations for management. Hence, with all these traits in me I now plan to apply for Post Graduation Diploma program in Advanced Healthcare Leadership from Lambton College, Toronto.
