The Fire in My Father's Hands
When I was a kid, about 5 to 8 years old, my hands would always get cold whenever the surrounding air is chilly. My dad would always tell me to rub them together, like you would in order to make fire. And so I did it. I rubbed and rubbed and rubbed. My fingers grind against each other from the tips of my little fingers to the base of my palm, but none of this worked. My hands still are cold, stone cold. Then my dad said after watching me rub for a whole 3

Then I thought to myself. Well, this is rare, mother is giving me free time.
Home Ruler
In German my name means home ruler. It means king. It is like the wind; strong, yet soothing. An energizing gust that one would welcome on a hot sunny day. It is like the symphonies that Beethoven conducted, vivid, strong symphonies.
Henry was my father's name and now I have it. Before that my father's name is Eric, then he changed it to Chief during college years. But now he is Henry, and I am Henry Jr. On that lazy afternoon when he told me that he changed his name twice, I asked him why he wanted to be called Henry.
He replied "Because I like the sound of it."
"What?! You chose your name and my name only because you like the sound of it? Isn't there some kind of symbolism behind it like Chinese names do?" I pressed.
But he just simply said "Nope."
Personally though, I do not dislike my name. It's alright, though it could be confusing when people just say Henry when both Yu and I are present. That's pretty much it, after all names aren't good material for bullying anyways.
All Alone
On lazy days when I'm bored, I daydream a lot. Just staring into space or look at the sky and the clouds or whatever that catches my intrest. I imagine various things, from the future, to the past. Sometimes I think of of the possibility of having a brother or sister since I am the only child in my house. I think of other people and their relationships with their siblings
I like my name, but if my name was color, the color would it be is blue, because is the color of trust and peace. It can suggest loyalty and integrity as well as conservatism and frigidity. If my name was a song, the song would it be is “Me enamoras” from “Luis Coronel, because is my favorite song I love this song because I remember so much memories. Let me explain If my name was made of something, would it be made out of metal because is very strong and all my family said that all family are very strong. Now that if my name was could speak, would it say is “wherever ” , because all the time I said this phrases and all my friends tell me that when somebody said this phrases remember to me.
would associate my name with something they loved or even remembered fondly. My first name
The origins of my first name can be traced all the way back to ancient times in the Old Testament. Jacob is a translated English version of a Hebrew name, Ya'aqov. In the Old Testament Jacob is the son of Isaac and Rebecca and the father of the twelve tribes of Israel. Additionally, these tribes are traditional divisions of the ancient Jewish people. Later on in England, Jacob was used as a Jewish name until the Protestant Reformation, making it a general Christian name. My mother most likely decided my first name because she has much faith
To produce this book, I asked not “What you are going to name your baby?”, but rather “What is your name? How does it make you feel? Who named you? Why did they choose that name? Would you change
My father named me before I was born. Before the thought of me even existed. Ever since he could remember he wanted a son, and he wanted him to bear the name Zachary. He can’t explain why he had that desire,
I was not named after any other person. When I asked my dad and mom they said “We try to come up with a unique name that nobody else had”. My mom came up the name Adam and dad seemed to like it, so he added his middle name in there and it sounded like it fit. So, from there on I was Adam Joe Alexander. There was no disagreement when coming up with my name. The funny thing is, they said I had this name before I was even born, they named me Adam a little bit after they found out she was parget. My dad said “If I was a girl, I would have been named either Serra Jane or Brandy
"So, your name is Pyra. Well, mine's Jacob!" I was glad to hear a human call me by my real name. The last human I met insisted on calling me Spike.
I totally understand where he is coming from because I have the same problem with my name as well. No one can say it correctly unless they are Mexican, and I always get asked where my name is from. I always get ready to correct the person when they say my name wrong, or I just forget about it and just say that’s my name and don 't even bother to correct them anymore.
My full name is Miranda Ruth Hall. Miranda is derived from the Latin word mirandus meaning admirable and wonderful. The name originated in a 1611 Shakespearean play called “The Tempest”, where Miranda was a great heroine. Ruth was one of the great women in the Bible in fact, she was the great-grandmother of King David . Ruth is a Hebrew name meaning companion, friend, and vision of beauty.
I am one of those weird kids who goes by their middle name, which I totally blame on my mom. Victoria Lilly Myers. That’s my name. The story behind it is kind of cute though. My mom and dad both agreed on Victoria but could not agree on a middle name. My dad wanted to name me Victoria Secret! Holy cow! How embarrassing would that be? According to mom, she was big fat pregnant laying in the bed and dad was like, what about Lilly? Mom said a light bulb went off and she immediately knew that was it. When I was born she actually named me Lilly Victoria but when the forms came to fill out she said this did not flow right and named me Victoria Lilly. She made this decision knowing that she would call me Lilly because I reminded her of a beautiful delicate flower. The fact that Lilly’s are her favorite flower was an added bonus.
Mum was the one who picked my name, or so I believe. However, there was no deep sentimental meaning behind it, I was not named after a passed relative like my sister had been, Mum just thought the name sounded pretty-which admittedly it was.
I do, in fact like my name because I believe it has a superb ring with my last name and it is always on keychains and other objects like that. But one thing I don't appreciate about my name is how common it is. I just recently learned that it is the commonest boy name in Texas and one of the most popular in the United States.
Remember the bully in the first grade who made your name sound nasty, no matter what you did? Consider what you call someone. Contemplate the case of Jeff Oddesky. Oddesky means ‘man from Odessa’. His name was correctly printed on his badge, yet people call him ‘ski’. He has no positive feelings on this situation.
The word common would not be a word that describes my name. Actually, the name Devanshi is probably the most rare name you’ve ever heard. Almost every teacher I’ve had has found a way to pronounce it incredibly wrong, and it fills me with embarrassment each time. The kids on the playground would call me “Devan-ishi” or “Leonardo da Vinci.” Therefore, I go by my middle name Anisha. It’s simple and common enough for people to recognize the name, but infrequent enough for me to not be confused by someone else. My dad started telling all the preschool teachers to call me by my middle name, and so I’ve been Anisha since then. I happen to really like that name, but it just makes life more complicated. Every year, I tell all my teachers
One night, my parent’s received an email titled, “You Are Having Three Baby Boys!” and soon began to research names. They wanted our names to sound official, as they believed that an official name would allow you to hold important positions. Every night, my mother scanned through baby books hoping to find names. When my mother went to St. Peter’s Hospital for her first ultrasound, she noticed that I was holding my two siblings up, making her believe that I was very strong. Unlike my siblings, my name had to sound official and strong. After another month of researching, my parents ended up with the name Alex. Alex might sound strong, but my parents chose this name as it represents Alexander The Great (King of Macedon and his strong willed actions
